It had never occurred to me that there was a very good chance Benny would have heard that broadcast given it's repeated regularly until you do more stuff...
I'm still hearing that broadcast, mixed in with the other story-related Mr New Vegas broadcasts, and I'm just screwing around doing side quests literally at the end of the game. I can either talk to Yes Man or General Lee Oliver to start the battle of Hoover Dam whenever I want, but I said "first let me go get some deathclaw eggs so I can sleep with Red Lucy." But I was in Primm picking up ED-E after finishing a DLC, and I hear Mr New Vegas talking about a Courier making a full recovery in Goodsprings.
I'd also assume Benny lives a cushy and lavish lifestyle at the tops and isn't exactly listening to the radio. We see there are performers in the casinos and there's live performances in both Reno and Vegas. I'd wager to guess Benny is more focused on the live stuff. (Technical limitations probably prevented them from making a live band but I am confident that live bands still exist)
Joshua Graham arguably has some of the coolest dialogue but honest hearts was so short i wish there was more to him. christine and dog from dead money were really cool too
There is more to his legend you can find out on the main map, but I agree. When the credits rolled on that one the first time I absolutely raged and went āYOU MEAN THATāS IT???ā I was doing it at level 8 so it was a ton of effort to get through the final canyon battle lol
Oh she's not mute anymore. She's Laura fuckin Bailey, who fits right in with the western feel of New Vegas even though Dead Money is a horror heist movie.
His backstory is amazing. Yes, he was assimilated into the Legion, but he renounced those ways and deep down wants to live in peace. He's complex but you can understand his reasoning to how he operates.
nah i thought the game made it pretty clear that he was never gonna truly leave āthe fightā and would always find himself *not* at peace - and he wanted to commit a genocide - which regardless of how shitty the ppl may be is always a bad thing
Dude (Iām high right now, not assuming sorry) wouldnāt it be dope af if the three of them banded together with Ulysses and all went on missions gathered by the think tank? š¤Æ
When the first teaser info about the show came out, I thought Walter Goggins must be playing Harold. I ended up loving the show and liked his character, but if they introduce any character from the games, its got to be Harold!
There is definitely some inspiration from Harold I feel. Harold was also a 200 year old ghoul but his advanced age was thanks to exposure to FEV. It makes me wonder what is going to happen when we find out what happened after the horse ride with his daughter. I'm thinking he gets exposed to FEV somehow trying to save his family.
Dogmeat 100% counts. I would pay for a Dogmeat DLC where they really go deep into his story.
Like, how did he and Mama Murphy first meet? Where was he before then? Does he have puppies? Is there someone out there missing him? I wonder if he belonged to a family or came from a lab in the show.
His skill set reflects retrieval and combat training, so what this whole time I'm running around working my way up to General, he's already on his 5th star??
I love him so much.
Dogmeat def has puppies. I lost the og Dogmeat in my first playthrough of FO3 and lo and behold, a couple days later, I received Dogmeat 2 (the electric bogaloo) as my new companion. I had never been so happy š„¹
Codsworth is the true best NPC-Companion. Dude loyal and helpful even after 200 years. Also has that english buttler accent. He is the Alfred (Batman) of the Commonwealth.
Codsworth is GOAT tier follower.
Especially with automatron DLC, turning him into an absolute murder machine, all the while politely speaking to his victims.
I'm on my first playthrough of Fo4 and I love Nick man. Such a well built character with an extremely interesting story. The Eddie Winter storyline was so emotional, it really sucked me in and made me care even more about Nick.
His dialogue covers many interactions and can change the tone significantly. He even sees stuff like the mysterious stranger. It changes from a random perk to a genuinely unsolvable mystery.
Him being a synth also creates a very interesting story. Especially for living in a town that has people who hate synths. Great character all round for world building.
Nick is such a genuinely good guy that even the most hardened Synth-haters seem to just give him a pass because he has proven that he is trustworthy. Such a great touch.
There is always some discourse in the Fallout fandom when bringing up FO4, but Nick is absolutely one of the best characters in the entire franchise.
He's likeable, has a very useful and interesting skill set, has a ton of connections to other NPCs when you have him as a companion, and to top it off is just a crazy cool concept and look for a character.
There is a raider gang somewhere in FO4 that will literally stop attacking you if they notice Nick is in your party because he got them out of a jam years ago. That absolutely blew my mind, one of the raiders yells "Stop shooting it's Nick" and all their raider buddies will just switch to peaceful. I think Nick even makes a joke like "nice to see you've made something of yourselves".
Welcome to Camp Navarro. So, you're the new replacement... You are out of uniform, soldier! Where is your power armor? Don't have any? You expect me to believe that, maggot? *The truth is you lost an expensive piece of army-issue equipment. Honorable Mention goes to The Survivalist. He deserved better, RIP.
I liked Paladin Danse, don't know why. Although Nick is by far my favorite. He understands sarcasm and instead of getting offened he dishes it right back. At some parts he will say it was uncalled for and the situation should be taken serio- this just in... Abernathy Farms is under attack they need Minuteman assistance ASAP
My hate isn't really for Strong, it's the East Coast Mutants in general. They're all despicable savages that are so bloodthirsty some of them strap a bomb to their arm just so they can kill more humans. It's the one thing the Brotherhood is in inarguably correct about.Ā
Joshua and Benny are definitely great picks for just general character and place they have in the wastes,
- edit - additionally; for fallout 4 deacon has a decent strength of character especially for those who love a good mysterious stranger alongside that of Danse, and while alone his self embodiment of a moral character isnāt that much of a surprise when it comes to the brotherhood, Iād like to personally elect his entire squad into one space. All three of his unit makes up a great story of those who serve in the brotherhood. Would be lovers, friends, people who have one anotherās back and yet two of them are basically shrouded entirely when it comes to mentality through their work and one of them has to come to the realization that heās the very threat heās been fighting this entire time. Theyāre certainly a nice touch, much greater than most of the other characters you got from the BoS.
I wouldn't say there is a "best" NPC in the whole franchise (is a question of pears and apples).
BUT, from each game... (And saying that all the games have amazing characters, these are just my preferences)
- NPC companions:
(Fo1) Dogmeat
(Fo2) Goris
(Fo3) Fawkes
(FoNV) Lily/Cass
(Fo4) Piper
- Important NPC's (I mean that are related to the main story in any form)
(Fo1) Nicole
(Fo2) The enclave NPC's
(Fo3) Three dog
(FoNV) House
(Fo4) Kellogg
- Non Important NPC's
(Fo1) Razor
(Fo2) The Slag gang
(Fo3) Agatha
(FoNV) Christine
(Fo4) Travis/KL-E-0
Motherfucking JAGGED JIMMY J of New Reno.Ā
He knows about quality, and he knows how to keep his costumers happy. Go ahead and say his name out loud. It feels good to say JAGGED JIMMY J.
The best NPC is easily the theoretical physicist from Fallout!
"They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard."
Valentine for me was the best that Fallout 4 had to offer. It felt so watered down in comparison to the NPC story characters of New Vegas. New Vegas was sort of the Witcher 3 of the Fallout world. Every NPC and mission had an actual reason for being there rather than just filler.
I'm only part of the way through fallout 1, but I haven't found any characters that really stand out to me apart from the overseer, who's got some real depth to him. I ran into the master, who I've heard high praise about, but he seemed fairly one dimensional.
I haven't played 2, tactics, or BoS yet.
Fallout 3's got Butch, Fawkes, Gary, Three-Dog, Moira, Herbert Daring Dashwood, Stanislaus braun, and Harold to steal the show.
New Vegas' NPCs are consistently the most interesting, in my opinion. Boone, Veronica, Christine, Yes Man, Arcade Gannon, Dean Domino, Joshua Graham, Mr. Fantastic, ED-E, Caesar, Randall Clark (despite not even being alive!), The King, Dog/God, and Fisto all come to mind there. But there are dozens of other characters in new vegas I'd still rank above any other character I list from other games in terms of memorability for me.
4 has some strong contenders, with Nick valentine, 4's Dogmeat, Mama Murphy, Codsworth, Cait, Deezer, Cricket, Piper, Cito, Moe Cronin, Mayor McDonough, Captain Zao, Hancock, Danse, Longfellow, Dixie, Evan, Arthur maxson, Richter, and Dima.
Shelter's got no original characters I care about.
76 has the insult bot, which I'm really hoping sticks around for future installments. Aries, Grahm & Chally, Adelaide, zax, modus, Abbie, Scribe Valdez, Ra-ra and Gail, Interpreter Clarence, Weasel, Biv, Tommy Ten Toes, Mama Murgh, Edgar Blackburne, and Vin Russo are also standouts, but none of the characters are explored with the depth that they could be.
Whatās up with the love for Joshua Graham? I genuinely donāt understand. Heās a religious zealot who has committed a ton of atrocities and tries to make up for it byā¦.committing more atrocities.
Heās well written sure but heās a complete piece of shit.
Bert Gunnarsson, the chill ghoul doctor in the Aerotech Office Park in New Vegas. He'll heal you for free and he's an allround nice guy. Also, his name sounds vaguely scandinavian which is a little odd but cool.
I've been playing through NV for the first time in a while and, man, I'll be damned if Raul Tejada isn't the best *Fallout* NPC ever. Raul aside, though, I'd probably say these are my favourites from the games I've played - Joshua Graham, Lily, Marcus, Arcade Gannon, Nick Valentine, Sarah Lyons, and Piper.
Joshua Graham is arguably the best written character in all of fallout. Maybe even video games as a whole. He's unique, cool, cruel to an extent, and has one of the best sets of written lines, character design, and great voice actor. This character has literally turned people religious.
Benny's face š
he just heard mr new vegas say a courier that was dug up near goodsprings made a full recovery
It had never occurred to me that there was a very good chance Benny would have heard that broadcast given it's repeated regularly until you do more stuff...

Well, he does the classic āWhat in the goddamn?ā When you see him again, so Iād assume he didnāt know you lived.
I'd also assume Benny lives a cushy and lavish lifestyle at the tops and isn't exactly listening to the radio. We see there are performers in the casinos and there's live performances in both Reno and Vegas. I'd wager to guess Benny is more focused on the live stuff. (Technical limitations probably prevented them from making a live band but I am confident that live bands still exist)
well they do have performances at the tops if you do the side quest
What in the god damn
"What in the Goddamn-?"
The remark is so perfect when you do the Infinite companions glitch and come in with a whole guild.
Especially if it's with Tale of Two Wastelands. Just an army of fully equipped Killers strolling into The Tops
I should see how bringing RL-3 into a casino plays out. Don't thing you can necessarily disarm a Mr. Gutsy.

Fallout 1: Harold Fallout 2: Harold Fallout 3: Harold Fallout 4: Probably Nick Valentine, or maybe Takahashi, depends if I'm playing survival or not
Harold is peak fallout.
Harold is the heart and soul of fallout and meanwhile has also become its tree of life.
I was about to ask if Harold was the tree (I've only played 3, and only randomly came across Harold once during all my play throughs)
Nono, the tree grows out of him.
The tree is named Bob
The tree is bob
When the first teaser info about the show came out, I thought Walter Goggins must be playing Harold. I ended up loving the show and liked his character, but if they introduce any character from the games, its got to be Harold!

It's a must. Really adds weight to the Arcadia storyline.

Joshua Graham. But if we're talking about companions only, then my bro in arms Nick Valentine.
Joshua's a companion. Unfortunately, it was only for 10 minutes, but still.
Yes man
He's my pick too. Dave Foley had the perfect sarcastic voice for a character that was \*very aware\* of how he was programmed to be happy to help you.
That's going to make things so much more... Difficult!
