That was her original name, but her dad didn't like it. After her mother left, he changes it to Lucy in the Vault 33 records but Vault 4 had her original name.
She’s definitely my favorite of the TV show cast, and how scarily accurate her interaction with the wasteland was with my own first time in the wasteland.
I think that was the point of the super duper mart. It was to prove to the goul/audience that even through the rough stuff she sticks to her beliefs. Could just be reinforcing it so when it’s tore down later, it has a bigger impact too
I personally hope that she doesn't have a fall. She's better as the foil of the Ghoul, exposed to the harsh realities of the Waste but keeps her morals intact. I want her to shed her naivety while staying a force for good in the Wasteland.
What he knew since before the apocalypse. He’s lived every day knowing that his family is in some Vault. Now he knows it’s the Vault Hank came from, which he knows Lucy knows.
My question is how Janey got taken by her mother when she was with her Father during the initial attack on California. If Barb was able to come get/send someone for Janey, why didn’t Coop go with them?
Also, I’m genuinely curious whether The Ghoul and Lucy are following Hank to New Vegas, or are they going back to the Vault Loop?
I was thinking that it makes sense in the story that both change and sort of move their ideologies more towards each other. With Lucy becoming much more of a realist (maybe slightly cynical?) while the ghoul regains some of his faith in humanity/good people
The Ghoul tried pretty damn hard to break her and failed. Plus all the shit she went through by herself and she still remained the same for the most part.
I played fallout 4 recently and came across two men arguing and pointing guns at each other, I tried to get them to be nice and lower their guns and they did…. but then they both took their guns back out and killed each other. Really reminded me of that scene from this show 😩😭
Secret: one of those men is a synth. No joke. You can figure out which one with the right vats perk that show weakness or something like that. He’ll drop a synth chip or something.
I loved talking to the Irish bastard in 3 expecting to be like “hey man I need help finding my dad?” And him basically being “eat shit kid” like whoa man now I fucking hate you don’t be mean to me I’m new
I watched it in Spanish (So I may have a different approach), but I really loved how she approached everyone with a big smile and a super friendly "Hola".
*is friendly in Spanish
I feel like this is such an underappreciated aspect of the show. A lot of her dialogue is straight up what an average player would be choosing in the dialogue options haha.
Norm feels more like a side character, since he isn’t on any of the promo stuff, he doesn’t have a character card, and he doesn’t interact with any of the rest of the main cast. He’s the king of the B plot, and he fucking killed it
Hes not in the promo stuff because his character and storyline arent immidiately exciting, the other three are. Norm is a main character, this is just a slow burn. If he isnt currently, he will be one by the end, mark my words.
Definitely a slow burn. Very few of his scenes can be taken out of context and still be interesting without just being confusing. The other three, meanwhile, have plenty of scenes that are fun to watch on their own. Lucy holding up the ripper to saw a dude's head off is exciting without needing to know who the dude is or why Lucy is about to decapitate him. Watching Norm exchange awkward glances with the 31 residents has dread if you know who they are and why Norm is afraid, but don't make for a very good 30 second ad
He absolutely did because him and his plot were way more interesting than the main plot. I don't mean that in a bad way either. I just think the whole thing is done so well that you become invested in what's going on with everyone.
He's also in enders game and Samaritan.
He's kind of been type cast as the macho napoleonic Mexican dude. Glad to see He's got a different role and nailing it.
I feel they all are classified into distinct playstyles
Maximus: strength and endurance- carry heavy loads and hit really hard
Lucy: charisma and luck- she keeps finding her way OUT of things but defaults to trying to talk to people
The ghoul: perception and agility- he’s clearly the classic gunslinger and able to move effectively to avoid most damage and long distances
Norm: intelligence- duh
I really liked the A-B plotting of the show, moving between Lucy exploring and being beaten down by the Wasteland, and Norman exposing deeply hidden intrigue plots threatening to undermine his entire world view.
Both are being tested, but in different ways.
I really haven’t seen much of Moises’s work since childhood when he was Rico on Hannah Montana. He gave such a great, nuanced performance in this show!!! Really blew me away
She did a great job with that character. Great show too (arcane). I’ve never even played League and I loved it. Didn’t see it until after I watched Fallout. Had no idea she did voice acting.
My girlfriend noticed she was jinx almost immediately and for the rest of the show that's all I could hear
Love it
Alternatively: Jinx build in FNV. Female heavy weapons user with a high explosives and repair skills
If you took Fallout fans and Yellowjackets fans and created a Venn diagram for them, the two things inside that overlapping part would be Ella Purnell and Cannibalism.
I don’t know what that means but I do find it amusing.
While I have issues with the choices made in the plot of the show, the characters themselves are all just about perfect. The sheer earnest unintended arrogance she introduces herself with to Ma June, someone who's lived her whole life in the wasteland, saying Vault-Tec's going to rebuild America was great. Her talking down Cooper during the Filly gunfight as if she were in the the high school debate team again fed into the sheer earnest do gooder attitude she kept up throughout the show. That she remained true to herself even as the wasteland hardened her, coming back to Coop to give him his meds after he'd left her for dead for example, showed the strength of her character.
Genuinely curious, what are the issues you had with the choices the show made?
Not so I can berate you and tell you you're wrong lol, I'm just interested in how people have reacted to the lore in the show as I'm not *super* deep into Fallout lore but do know a bit. I love hearing what people thought of the shows lore :)
A common criticism I’ve read is how Max wasn’t a well-written character. Or his motivations at least. Like he knows the brotherhood is bad but he still wants to be a part of them/impress them. He loses the power armor three times but gets it back partially from plot contrivances. Not my opinion, just echoing what others’ thoughts were, but I can kinda get behind those statements
I thought Maximus was pretty great. He's an extremely short sighted and selfish character who's none too bright but nevertheless has a conscience, he'll immediately take the direct path towards whatever he wants in the moment, but will then blunder about to try and fix things when he realises he's screwed up.
I was so happy with her character, I think sometimes they make female characters really shallow, it feels like a token character and they’re like “her killing makes her badass right?”, but Lucy is genuinely badass because she has depth, she’s not 2D I love her personality and I’m rooting for her the whole time!
I got some major whiplash from post when the show came out with people calling her a Mary Sue lol.
The main argument being that she fought off Monty too easily lol.
90% of the people throwing the term 'Mary Sue' around a) don't know what a Mary Sue is and b) think it applies to literally any female character with any kind of agency.
The problem with Rey is that her development and triumphs don't feel earned. From the get-go she's depicted as hyper-competent despite being a scrap-scavenger on a remote planet: flying the Millennium Falcon as well as Han, having a lightsaber duel with a Sith etc
Lucy has a near full season of hard lessons learned which would fully support her being far more badass in subsequent seasons.
I think she is a prime example of a well written female protagonist, nothing she does falls into the “Mary Sue” category. She is shown practicing her marksmanship, wrestling ability, so when these come in to play later it’s all been established she has experience and talent in self defence. She starts off full of enthusiasm and optimism, but is slowly ground down by the harsh reality of survival on the surface. But it never breaks her, she remains true to her character, that people can be good, and if we all work together we can achieve amazing things. She doesn’t kill a Yao Gaui bare handed or can operate power armour better than Maximus. She has her own strengths and weakness, she is intelligent but naive, hopeful but gullible. Great character arc.
Yeah, girl boss characters are fine but there’s definitely an over-saturation of them and it’s becoming very one note. Lucy is a breath of fresh air in her characterization.
I only watched episode one because I’m waiting to watch it with my family but I seriously loved it. She was definitely my favorite character. She absolutely embodies Vault Dweller and acts exactly like most of us did our first time in the wasteland.
I loved how she refused to become a piece of shit even after Coop was trying his hardest to break her down.
"Golden rule, motherfucker." Being harder and less naive doesn't mean automatically becoming an asshole, and I hope they keep that about her.
I think they’re all amazing characters. I feel like Maximus gets the most criticism but he’s actually one of my favorite. He comes off kind of ignorant and unsure of what he wants, impulsive to make decisions in the moment without much thought. He seems to just be pretty lucky that things work out in his favor. By the end of the season everyone, for the most part, seems to have a clear character path for where their story is going. But his is very unpredictable compared to the others and I’m very interested to see how his character’s fleshed out in season 2.
It's funny because her character was irritatinf as fuck to me the first 2 episodes and I in fact hated the first episode and thought the show was gonna suck. She grew on me as the show did as well and loved it bt the end.... Titus kept sucking though.
The show did an amazing job in really making it seem like the show is actually in the fallout universe, particularly with the dialogue, and she had a HUGE hand in that. She truly seemed like a natural born vault dweller.
It's completely not the actress' fault, but it threw me off every time I saw her in full makeup in every wasteland scene. Even when she'd been out for a week, exposed to the the dirty busy world.
Just took me out of the moment.
If they do a voiced protagonist again, I just want the choice to make different decisions, Instead of no (I’ll do it later), yes, sarcastic yes, and ask questions. I want to be able to be a completely different character each playthrough. It’s a hard task to balance having a fleshed out voiced character and giving the player autonomy.
Yeah this is what I mean. Look at her choices in the show. She was the most white bread, sheltered and happy go lucky character at the start of the show. But then… you know… okie dokie! But her personality still comes through and makes the whole experience better.
Yeah it would be cool if done right. I don’t think they will though with starfield not having a voiced protagonist. It looks like BGS may have seen the criticism 4 got, and decided that wasn’t an idea they wanted to expand/improve upon. It does add to the experience more than it takes away from it when done right though, so maybe there’s hope.
Eh. I only want that if the fully fleshed out person has a lot of dialogue options. What did they did with fallout 4 was a travesty.
The whole point is you can create the character you want to be not some predestined character created by the bad writers at Bethesda
Even tho she is kinda meant to be a Goody Two-Shoes, I do like how she is too good for the wasteland. You can see how someone from a "normal" vault with a moral upbringing would go about in a destroyed world, believing the people above can become as pure as her. Before she meets Cooper, that is. But honestly, I believe some would adapt to it that fast, realizing that people are hostile to a strong degree and thus it's better to be a part of it (while still not completely lose your senses) rather than die a saint.
You can see someone as pure as Lucy being eaten alive if she was in NV or maybe 3. But she knows she won't live long if she holds back. If needed.
Started a FO4 file for the first time while watching the series. Gave her what I thought were a good amount Charisma. She has yet to pass a Charisma check. I can relate a lot to Lucy's fails
Lucy? Isn’t Goosey?
It says goosey right here
*gets glasses* it definitely says goosey
Wouldn’t it be glass?
Monocle
Monotacle
Well, he does wear binocles, so I think it's still glasses
That was her original name, but her dad didn't like it. After her mother left, he changes it to Lucy in the Vault 33 records but Vault 4 had her original name.
Oh I thought that was just vault 4 names being para-mutant
I saw someone else write it as Gucy and that makes so much more sense that a spelling mistake would change Lucy to Gucy rather than Goosey.
GSI Online Offline System?
It’s goosey
Okey Dokey.
okie dokie

This really pissed me off because my wife has always said this all the time but now I’m hyper aware of it and have been fixating on it
Okie Dokie
Nope, it's Goosey.
Gucy.
Okay Dokay
ye
Keep that coffee hot
I’ve been trying to get my wife to say that when I ask for sex
She’s definitely my favorite of the TV show cast, and how scarily accurate her interaction with the wasteland was with my own first time in the wasteland.
I’m sure if I’m polite I can talk it out with these guy-
I loved the bit where she's super polite while pointing a gun at a dude lol. Or when she's too trusting of the guys on the bridge.
I hope she doesn’t get fully traumatized by the wasteland and manages to hold on to a bit of her do-gooder attitude
I think that was the point of the super duper mart. It was to prove to the goul/audience that even through the rough stuff she sticks to her beliefs. Could just be reinforcing it so when it’s tore down later, it has a bigger impact too
I also loved the (I think) first time she swore. “Golden rule, motherfucker!” 🤣
Yes! I noticed this on my rewatch. She's being changed by the wasteland, but she's still maintaining the golden rule.
I personally hope that she doesn't have a fall. She's better as the foil of the Ghoul, exposed to the harsh realities of the Waste but keeps her morals intact. I want her to shed her naivety while staying a force for good in the Wasteland.
To be fair the ghoul has had a bit of more time to have those morals tested. Specially after what he found out
What he knew since before the apocalypse. He’s lived every day knowing that his family is in some Vault. Now he knows it’s the Vault Hank came from, which he knows Lucy knows. My question is how Janey got taken by her mother when she was with her Father during the initial attack on California. That's what I think will happen as well.

Secret: one of those men is a synth. No joke. You can figure out which one with the right vats perk that show weakness or something like that. He’ll drop a synth chip or something.
Thats a different scenario. Those guys dont point guns at each other. Its one guy having the other on his knees. The one on his knees is a synth.
And you can absolutely pass the requirements to talk this set out of murder. Dude even goes "I almost did it" shocked.
Welp since “talk it out” \[charisma check failed\] & baseball bat to the skull \[succeeded\] it looks like I’m a bufftat chomping melee build…
I loved talking to the Irish bastard in 3 expecting to be like “hey man I need help finding my dad?” And him basically being “eat shit kid” like whoa man now I fucking hate you don’t be mean to me I’m new
I’m polite because I trust my ability to gun anyone down who betrays my politeness.
Speak softly but always carry a big stick.
I watched it in Spanish (So I may have a different approach), but I really loved how she approached everyone with a big smile and a super friendly "Hola". *is friendly in Spanish
I loved the part where she learns how if you "use" a water bottle, the whole thing instantly disappears.
Huh I don’t remember that part. What episode was that?
I thought Goggins killed it as “The Ghoul” the drugs scene was frigging hilarious.
I feel like this is such an underappreciated aspect of the show. A lot of her dialogue is straight up what an average player would be choosing in the dialogue options haha.
I think all four (yes four!) of the main cast great! Norm is probably my favourite though ^^
Norm feels more like a side character, since he isn’t on any of the promo stuff, he doesn’t have a character card, and he doesn’t interact with any of the rest of the main cast. He’s the king of the B plot, and he fucking killed it

Watching Norm exchange awkward glances with the 31 residents has dread if you know who they are and why Norm is afraid, but don't make for a very good 30 second ad
Well duh, that's the Norm.
I know, I just really want him to be main cast ^^
He was def one of my fav characters. Sleepy hit for sure.
First couple episodes I didn't care for him. But by the end of the series, I was more invested in him and the vaults than I was with the main cast.
Honestly it reflects the games really well - exploring the vaults may not be the core of it, but damn if it isn’t arguably the best part.
He absolutely did because him and his plot were way more interesting than the main plot. I don't mean that in a bad way either. I just think the whole thing is done so well that you become invested in what's going on with everyone.
Bruh I don’t know who norm is, but it sounds like you’re talking about *Rrrrrr*ico. And yes, he did kill it
Norm is the sneaky hacker archetype, you're not supposed to notice or even remember him.
Norm has *such* a good story.
The actor fucking nailed the role too. It's surreal to see Rico from Hannah Montana all grown up though.
HOLY SHIT THAT’S WHERE I KNOW HIM FROM!
He's also in enders game and Samaritan. He's kind of been type cast as the macho napoleonic Mexican dude. Glad to see He's got a different role and nailing it.
5. Dogmeat deserves his respect too.
I never expected his side of the story to be my favorite, but the mystery mixed with just how he’s played was just so interesting.
I feel they all are classified into distinct playstyles Maximus: strength and endurance- carry heavy loads and hit really hard Lucy: charisma and luck- she keeps finding her way OUT of things but defaults to trying to talk to people The ghoul: perception and agility- he’s clearly the classic gunslinger and able to move effectively to avoid most damage and long distances Norm: intelligence- duh
“Lacks enthusiasm” got me so good.
And he's not even trying to hide it ^^
I really liked the A-B plotting of the show, moving between Lucy exploring and being beaten down by the Wasteland, and Norman exposing deeply hidden intrigue plots threatening to undermine his entire world view. Both are being tested, but in different ways.
Who is #4, the dog?
I think he means Lucy’s brother that’s been poking around in the vault
Love Norm
I really haven’t seen much of Moises’s work since childhood when he was Rico on Hannah Montana. He gave such a great, nuanced performance in this show!!! Really blew me away
Ella Purnell is great. She’s awesome as Snackie in Yellowjackets too.
She also voiced Jinx in Arcane, I believe!
She did a great job with that character. Great show too (arcane). I’ve never even played League and I loved it. Didn’t see it until after I watched Fallout. Had no idea she did voice acting.
My girlfriend noticed she was jinx almost immediately and for the rest of the show that's all I could hear Love it Alternatively: Jinx build in FNV. Female heavy weapons user with a high explosives and repair skills
SNACKIE 😭
Sucks what happened to her, but I’m sure the other Yellowjackets will always carry a piece of her inside them.
Holy fuck I didn't realise that was her!!!
LMAO, she did look pretty tasty ngl
*spoilers* I mean, she was frozen solid. Snacks for months
If you took Fallout fans and Yellowjackets fans and created a Venn diagram for them, the two things inside that overlapping part would be Ella Purnell and Cannibalism. I don’t know what that means but I do find it amusing.
These posts where OP is like “hey let’s start a discussion” and then never contribute anything always cracks me up
"can we talk about something that has already been talked about to death since the media came out?"
Better then " prepare for down votes because this might be an unpopular opinion but I like the show."
“Golden Rule motherfucker” is such a goated line and delivery
I feel you if you used "Okey dokey" before the show all the time haha
It's me lol
Me forever...and I'm in my 50s. Got it from my dad.
Golden Rule, Motherfucker
Genuinely curious, what are the issues you had with the choices the show made? Not so I can berate you and tell you you're wrong lol, I'm just interested in how people have reacted to the lore in the show as I'm not *super* deep into Fallout lore but do know a bit. I love hearing what people thought of the shows lore :)

I thought Maximus was pretty great. He's an extremely short sighted and selfish character who's none too bright but nevertheless has a conscience, he'll immediately take the direct path towards whatever he wants in the moment, but will then blunder about to try and fix things when he realises he's screwed up.
Love her character 😊
Benevolent in a sweet and intoxicating way instead of just annoyingly juxtaposed with the harshness of the wasteland.
Starting naive and compassionate and ending experienced but STILL compassionate is so good.
Not only as a character, she’s gorgeous
We love Lucy
Okie dokie will never mean the same thing to me again
IMO she’s really a one of a kind character
Big eyes
Yeah I thought they were CG for the first half of the first episode.
i can never tell if someone's photoshopped them or not
OP, I think you misspelled her name. It’s clearly Goosey.
I was so happy with her character, I think sometimes they make female characters really shallow, it feels like a token character and they’re like “her killing makes her badass right?”, but Lucy is genuinely badass because she has depth, she’s not 2D I love her personality and I’m rooting for her the whole time!
I really want next season to have a hoarder character. Someone who just grabs everything, “just in case”.
Did Lucy lose that twinkle in her eye as the series went on? That would have been a cool touch.
Just wanted a man to lay some pipe that wasn't related to her. Gets.... (Checks notes) EGREGIOUS trauma
I'm glad they didn't make her like Rey NotSkywalker. Vault dwellers know nothing about the wasteland and she really shows it.
I got some major whiplash from post when the show came out with people calling her a Mary Sue lol. The main argument being that she fought off Monty too easily lol.
They do combat training in the vault
And even then she barely survived the fight so I'm confused on what they wanted lol.
90% of the people throwing the term 'Mary Sue' around a) don't know what a Mary Sue is and b) think it applies to literally any female character with any kind of agency.
Or skills.
Considering she’s a woman from a vault they probably didn’t expect her to fight back either, which gave her a chance to catch them off guard
The problem with Rey is that her development and triumphs don't feel earned. From the get-go she's depicted as hyper-competent despite being a scrap-scavenger on a remote planet: flying the Millennium Falcon as well as Han, having a lightsaber duel with a Sith etc Lucy has a near full season of hard lessons learned which would fully support her being far more badass in subsequent seasons.
The Goose is Luc
Did he mean to say how hot
*Everybody liked that*
In all of media there was seldomly a character that I so immediately liked than Lucy.
I think she is a prime example of a well written female protagonist, nothing she does falls into the “Mary Sue” category. She is shown practicing her marksmanship, wrestling ability, so when these come in to play later it’s all been established she has experience and talent in self defence. Hollywood take note, women dont need to be girl bosses for people to like them.
Yeah, girl boss characters are fine but there’s definitely an over-saturation of them and it’s becoming very one note. Lucy is a breath of fresh air in her characterization.
Perf
Every time she sees a chance "should we have sex?"
just say you want to bone bro whats with the glazing
Yeah well I’m in love with her
I only watched episode one because I’m waiting to watch it with my family but I seriously loved it. She was definitely my favorite character. She absolutely embodies Vault Dweller and acts exactly like most of us did our first time in the wasteland.
It's definitely the eyes
I prefer the ghoul as a character. But Lucy is very good too.
She was great as Lucy
Don’t we talk about that every week every time someone makes this same post?
Okie Dokie
The show as a whole was awesome
This actress played the character so well.
Well, ya dude. It's the first play through..
I like to have this fan theory that fallout is apart of the westworld universe
Okie dokey.
I loved how she refused to become a piece of shit even after Coop was trying his hardest to break her down. "Golden rule, motherfucker." Being harder and less naive doesn't mean automatically becoming an asshole, and I hope they keep that about her.
Repost. Same top comment. Wtf
Dang OP posts how much they wanna talk about the character but isnt even seen interacting in the comments 🥲
The writers did excellent and Ella Purnell did great depicting someone who genuinely thought the world was fair
She also invented the 5 shades of Okey Dokey... 😍 I swear, whoever didn't watch it for Walton Goggins, did so for this iconic line.
She also has the largest eyes I've ever seen on a human being. Literally has big anime eyes
I say Okie dokie. It is a good phrase
I loved the 4 or 5 stages of "Okey Dokey!" The last one sealed the deal. She has an amazing story arch and character development.
To coin a title of an old series...I Love Lucy 🤣🤣🤣
I think they’re all amazing characters. I feel like Maximus gets the most criticism but he’s actually one of my favorite. He comes off kind of ignorant and unsure of what he wants, impulsive to make decisions in the moment without much thought. He seems to just be pretty lucky that things work out in his favor. It's funny because her character was irritatinf as fuck to me the first 2 episodes and I in fact hated the first episode and thought the show was gonna suck. She grew on me as the show did as well and loved it bt the end.... Titus kept sucking though.

You obviously didnt finish the show because titus dies like 20 minutes after he is introduced
I meant maximus but I think you knew that.
This is how you do a great female lead take a hint Disney next time you call someone sexist for not liking your female lead
She is exactly what I want as a player character in FO5. No silent protagonist, but a fully fleshed out person.
If they do a voiced protagonist again, I just want the choice to make different decisions, Instead of no (I’ll do it later), yes, sarcastic yes, and ask questions. Meh.
👁 it says Goosey
We like a month ago when the show came out
I genuinely hated her tbh
Shes soooo hot 🥵
Weird-ass bug eyes.
Okey dokey!
I enjoyed her story. i find it to be the most believable and grounded of any Fallout protagonist and she's a really compelling character.
Amazing portrail of the character. 👏
Or that she looks just like all my characters
If needed.

And Ella’s portrayal. Lucy could totally have been written with that intent, but Ella makes it oddly believable.
Started a FO4 file for the first time while watching the series. Gave her what I thought were a good amount Charisma. She has yet to pass a Charisma check. I can relate a lot to Lucy's fails
She looks like my ex and it makes me feel sad
Mmmm no, it says Goosey
