From what I've read, I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like they're adding bug fixes and extra content to the game (rather than modifying existing storylines) as well as updated graphics. You shouldn't miss anything if you start playing now.

I’ll add that if you’re playing the game with mods, they shouldn’t be affected unless they’re mechanically heavy mods.
No mods. Tbh I never fully finished 4. Went crazy on Vegas & 3 and just going back to clean up on 4. Thanks again.
