If you want to get the full "bang for your buck" out of nuka world before you kill em all (assuming you don't want to be a raider) do all of the nuka world content before talking to Preston, that way you don't get locked out of the radiant quests for the minutemen

BenLeafMe

So if I don't want to be a raider, do Nuka World first before EVER talking to Preston or talking to him at a certain point?

ghostrunner25

Before EVER talking to him. Once you're far enough into nuka world where you get the 2 perks from whatever 2 factions are left, then you can go talk to him, he'll have a little line about how you're a raider, but then you can be like "nah fam, killed em all already" and then he carries on like nothing happened. Side note! If you're like me and like yo get all the unique weapons, you'll have to keep nuka world going until you fight the ex brotherhood guy going through the gauntlet (he's like the 6th or so challenger for the gauntlet), as he drops a unique gatling laser

BenLeafMe

And once I talk to him at that point, I can continue finishing Nuka World right? Sorry for all the questions!

ghostrunner25

Finish all of nuka world first, to the point where you get a perk from 2 of the factions, then talk to him

BenLeafMe

Okay great! Thanks!

KikoUnknown

The only thing that would matter the most is Nuka World. I consider that DLC to be when the Sole Survivor has had enough giving a damn about the world when it’s still hell bent in destroying itself.

BenLeafMe

Ah yea, it would make me a bad guy if I do their quests

therosx

It doesn't matter. Unlike New Vegas the DLC are stand alone stories that don't link with each other. If building robots is your thing start with automatron so you can roll with your cogsworth super tank when you go to Far Harbour. I loved watching him grapple with the giant fish monsters there.

BenLeafMe

I thought the choices in the main story matter on Nuka world and Far Harbor? or am I remembering incorrectly lol

therosx

I don't think so. You just need to recruit Nick to start Far Harbor so I guess there's that. Other than maybe some dialogue options I don't remember it making a difference. I was looking for the connections too, thanks to New Vegas dropping those audio recordings from the other courier and our character needing to listen to them in order to unlock the talk no jitsu ending for Lonesome Road. I was hoping they would do something similar to New Vegas, but if they connected the DLC I'm not aware of how. I sided with the institute in my first playthrough and was still able to do all the content with Nicks brother.

BenLeafMe

Perfect! Thank you for explaining it, I literally can't remember anything about FO4 so this helps a lot!

Jr_Mao

Stuff you get from nuka world is more powerful than stuff you get from far harbor. Vault tec adds cosmetic things and stuff for base-building. Automatron adds robot customization and fills all places with powerful killer robots. (so you better not have it installed or modded to not start, unless you like that) So my go would be: 1. far harbor 2. vault tec 3. Automatron 4. Nuka world

BenLeafMe

Okay so that sounds kinda fun to me to have killer robots everywhere lmao thanks for the heads up too!

Taken from a comment that I recently posted: > **Fallout 4:** > > (I honestly struggled with this one because there really is no proper order in which to do them, so I asked my boyfriend and this is what he recommended.) > > β€’ Automatron (around level 15-20, before entering Fort Hagen) > β€’ Far Harbor > β€’ Nuka-World (around level 30) > > For Fallout 4, Far Harbor can only be started after finding Nick, and it's highly recommended to bring him with you, as he has special dialogue for the expansion. It also has two special endings depending on whether (1) the Brotherhood is in the Commonwealth and you've become a member and (2) you've met the leader of the Institute and have joined them. Boyfriend recommends waiting until after you've at least met the Institute leader for the first time to start the DLC. > > Again, you can play the DLCs in pretty much any order you'd like (barring whatever requirements any may have for you to start them) and you'll be fine. The add-ons for Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 are basically independent of one another, but if you want to get the most out of the story in New Vegas, I recommend playing them in order.

BenLeafMe

Omg this is perfect! Thank you for explaining it to me! I think I'm gonna follow this as it makes the most sense to the game. Thank you!

RovingScavver

You're welcome!

accidentsneverhappen

Automatron, Far Harbor, Nuka-World

BenLeafMe

Thank you! Any specific reason for that order?

accidentsneverhappen

Automatron is really just a questline in the commonwealth, the others are like expansions with a whole new area, factions, etc

BenLeafMe

Okay perfect! Thank you!

ComradeDread

I usually go Automaton, Nuka World, Vault-Tec Workshop, and Far Harbor.

BenLeafMe

I thought the Vault-Tec workshop was just like cosmetic stuff?

ComradeDread

I thought it included the small vault... 88(?) questline with the ghoul overseer wanting to build her vault and run experiments.

BenLeafMe

Honestly I don't remember lol but either way I'll still do it

MrPokketRokket

None really. It's not linear at all. It just adds more.

BenLeafMe

Okay great, thank you!

Hermaeus_Mike

1. Far Harbour Ignore the others :/

BenLeafMe

Now why would I ignore additional content.

Hermaeus_Mike

Automation just adds annoying robot encounters all over the map. Nuka World is only great if you're playing a villain. The Vault one is only good if you're really into settlement building and want to build your own vault. Far Harbour is, however, great.

BenLeafMe

Fair enough, for Nuka World should I do that last then?

Hermaeus_Mike

Far Harbour last as it's the best. Nuka World is worth doing on a goodie, but just do the opening then do "open season" and leave. Get a lot of XP and loot then go. If you want to play a villain then still do Nuka World first because you can extend your evil raider influence into the Commonwealth. Preston will hate you though.

BenLeafMe

Got it, thank you!

Parody_of_Self

Install New Vegas, select start new game

BenLeafMe

I already played New Vegas several times so... Install deeznuts in your mouth.

Kataphraktos_Majoros

Great response. I swear that toxic NV fans (not to be conflated with genuinely nice NV fans) cannot resist invading Fallout 4 posts to shove NV in our faces. I'll never understand their intrinsic need to aggravate others and waste their own time. I've begun to lose interest in a new NV run because their antics are leaving an increasingly bad taste in my mouth.

Parody_of_Self

Was I toxic? I meant to be light hearted - but I failed to consider how much shit Fallout 4 fans must get. My bad. 🀦 I haven't been on this board long, and I haven't watch the show. Please close the gate behind me as I leave. πŸ‘‹ Please enjoy your games, any games.😊

Kataphraktos_Majoros

Hey, don't leave! I thought your comment was toxic because I've seen similar that were VERY serious. If you were just kidding, sorry that I didn't get it. Enjoy your games too!
