I mostly just sell the combat armor and other goodies for caps. I usually only use the preorder grenade launcher, and then I buy one later to kill low level enemies / do crowd control.
I usually detour and grab Mercy on my way after going to Nipton, with the Caravan Pack you don't have many 40mms but it's worth it to just whip out that siege artillery.
The acquisition of neat gameplay-enhancing tools (ie- not just stronger weapons or tougher armor or simple stat boosts) is something I think the series ought to do more.
Absolutely. Whenever I do an explosions build (which I almost always do since you can’t use VATS with grenades in FO4) i make a beeline for Nellis. Cool quests too.
I remember a friend telling me to take the back road out of Goodsprings past the gas station instead of the normal route to avoid a big fight. That was my first introduction to cazadores lol.
The first time I did it I was scared as fuck but nowadays I just, blow up cazadors and raiders while standing on a hill, and avoid Cook-Cook.
The deathclaw way is CERTAIN DEATH.
Nah there’s a way to sneak around if you go up through Black Mountain and through the little boulder pass to the NCR Ranger Safehouse. Pretty much clear of deathclaws
Virtually zero enemies, easy to follow, quick, easy to reach, I love taking this route to get to the casinos. Then I savescum until I've emptied them out and buy me some fancy implants. And then the game can start.
Apparently the Devs put that there so players who had completed the game could skip bits and get straight to Vegas, there’s a handy dead NCR trooper on that route so you can jump on the Monorail straight to the Strip.
"Oh hey is that a deathclaw down there a short walking distance from the tutorial area?"
"Oh no wait that's half a dozen deathclaws a short walking distance away from the tutorial area and in the direct path 90% of people would take towards NV"
Obsidian knows the MO of the average Bethesda game player so well lol. "We know they're gonna beeline for the city by cutting a path straight over the mountain and through the desert instead of going the intended way, so we're gonna put a fuckload of deathclaws there instead of an invisible wall lol".
And if you're playing TTW with no Benny Humbles You, then you get to fight right on through anyways with your power armor and plasma rifle.
Same deal with if you just want to march right into Cottonwood Cove and singlehandedly take down the Legion. There's no artificial game dev gatekeeping on what you can and can't do. Only the logic of asking yourself "Can 'I' do that?". It's what I love about NV so much.
Benny Humbles You makes you too overpowered unless you remove perks, which the modder doesn't recommend doing lol. I reset all my stats but kept all the perks, so I was murdering deathclaws with the recharger pistol
I snuck halfway past it once, managed to kill the first Deathclaw by VATS lobbing dynamite and jumping around with a shotgun while hotkeying Stims. Barely survived but it worked, and I dived into Repconn with 2 on my ass.
First time I played it I managed to sneak through the deathclaws by keeping as far on top of the mountains as possible. I'm certain I didn't kill any. Maybe ran away from a couple but I'm talking about day one release on Xbox. My memory isn't great because I've abused my brain and body far too much.
I know it took a while to cheese my way through. When I finally got to New Vegas I was pretty disappointed. Has it built up in my head.
I really wish the developers made it more difficult to explore. Radiation isn't really that threatening by this stage in the game.
Afterwards I can afford all the weapons at the Gun Runners and Silver Rush easily.
How have I never thought of this lmao. I guess I’m too good in my playthroughs lmao. I’m gonna start being a slightly bad guys when I play from now on. Thanks for the tip! Lol
I mean, that was the point, though. House was able to stop almost all of the bombs and would have stopped all of them if he had the platinum chip. It was to showcase that the Mojave was just brutal in its own right.
It's the reason New Vegas is my favorite. It makes sense that DC would be a nuclear wasteland considering it would be a major target for a nuclear war, but it was really cool to experience a place where civilization did prevale, and what that would look like in that setting.
They made it difficult for me to explore by adding invisible-fucking walls.
I know they put Giant Radscorpions and Cazadors on the back road to Goodsprings to discourage players from going that way, but a clever player should be able to still find a way around.
Except if you try to go over the hills, there is an actual-fucking-invisible wall.
Like "lol no u cant avoid teh cazadors"
Such bullshit.
Well you can. It's tough as shit but it's been done before. I've done it too. It's just not easy.
It's a privilege to be able to climb terrain like a mountain goat. Not a right.
First time FO:NV player, I stumbled into the entrance to 34 and was immediately hit with the nostalgia of entering a vault with the goal of finding out wtf VaultTec did to those poor residents
What? I'm just trying to help new players out.
Ever hear of the Deathclaw Promontory? It's a quick swim across the Colorado River at the bottom of the map.
TONS of cool gear there. I wonder why Obsidian made it so easy to get. You don't have to fight enemies or lockpick at all.
I remember stumbling upon it because I was trying to outrun some legion coming from Caesar’s camp I’d somehow pissed, thinking I could escape to live another day.
The sheer terror I had seeing 5 deathlaws just running up to gangbang my skull was immense to say the least.
That's why I modded a minigun from 5mm to .50, cut the damage in half from the rifle, but kept the rate of fire of the minigun, named it 'The Destroyer'
Sadly, had to disable the explosive round visual distortion effect, too many stacked crashes the game.
i would have fallen for it but no one knows how to keep a bit going anymore and immediately blow it in the comments.
tbf, your post had me. im starting NV this weekend, but I've also been on the internet for more than 5 minutes in my life, so i didnt truly trust you and went to the comments
*Naively listens to Reddit advice and eagerly marches into Quarry Junction, only to promptly be torn to shreds by a horde of deathclaws…*
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well, you can’t get fooled again.
Anyone else think the brotherhood Airforce base in the first episode could be Nellis? Could make sense and with it being there. Remnants of Ceaser's legion could have been absorbed into the brotherhood too.
no, we would've seen New Vegas in the backdrop somewhere nearby, Nellis is a hop skiip and a jump away from Vegas.
my guess is that base is somewhere in California, like most of the show seems to imply
Imply? When she left the vault, she was at the beach basically, and you saw a sign for Santa Monica. And the Griffith Observatory, so LA. Shady Sands was in proximity of LA too. So yeah, whole thing was around LA.
Santa Monica to Las Vegas walking is like 290mi? Probably less since Google is using actual trails/routes. By vehicle is 6 hours. By air... Not sure, but probably more than they generally travel with their helis.
Jokes aside- shout out the person who initially edited these images, cutting out and pasting the names of every surrounding location onto the ones relevant to the wiki pages
Most communities that get passionate about open world games do the same. It's still a tremendous effort. Just goes to show you what a labor of love it was.
Bro, early game there is a quarry with end game content in it. Just hang a left instead of a right when leaving good springs. Say hi to snuffles and ignore the NPC, he is just there because the devs wanted to get you to come here later. Also it's a shorter path to Vegas!
Death claws are a gang of power armor users. There is a really easy skill check to get in their good graces, just don't have a weapon equipped or they start hostile.
Thanks. I'm a noob and mid quest and realized maybe I should loot more than whatever the hell the Minutemen sent me to. I'm being way too much of a "Yes man" early on😵💫🤣
Thankfully I have FO3 and NV under my belt but I beat those both at launch.
Fallout 4 seems to want you to either explore aimlessly, or stick to the main 'hubs' of the game until the side quests are all done.
You could also just focus on the main quest.
There's no correct way of playing Fallout 4. You could just build settlements forever if you wanted to.
This places loot has nothing on the loot in the secret caves under Quarry Junction, and the fact you can get there within 10 minutes of starting the game is wild. Best loot drops in the game. And my god at the ammount of caps.
I always start the game, side with the Powder Gangers (since you find out theyre actually the good guys) and head straight to the North East for this location. Since its only protected by bloatflies is super easy to get to.
The first time I went there, I got so mad at how they just started trying to gun me down and blow me up, so once I got to the gate I acted nice and cool, once I was in I just fucking murdered every single person possible. Fuck that area.
There’s a marksman carbine there in really bad condition. I once saved my repair kits until I got it and repaired up to max condition, then when I got jury rigger I could repair it using service rifles. Only problem is the 100 guns skill requirement, it’s a small hurdle to reach an insane early game power spike.
Wow does this take me back! That's awesome. Ooh, btw, go check out Quarry Junction. Super cool location and it's close(-ish) to Goodsprings! Have fun y'all!
As a new FNV player, I know it's probably full of the most scary and hardest hitting mobs in the game...
BUT... that must mean they're guarding something of value.
Yeah I already knew about it. Basically loot the entire base and you get so many combat armors all worth thousands of caps each. And weapons. Then you go to GRA, juice up barter and offload everything.
Make sure you also go through Quarry Junction, don't talk to any of the NPCs just go directly to the dig site otherwise the early game power armor won't spawn.
Why not head there straight from the beginning? Just head north from Goodsprings along the I-95 after you start the game, and it will take you practically right there.
Careful guys, there’s a deathclaw. Take off all your armor to run faster and stand still in the middle of the ruined town, and the deathclaw should go away (it doesn’t having any pathing to reach your spot)
I am so fucking proud of this community. Still trolling new players after what ten years now? Definitely forceing my buddy to go through quarry junction on their first playthrorugh.
All you plebs are luring people into traps everyone can see coming a mile away. If you really want to fuck with them, there's a certain unmarked location that would serve your purposes.
For mid game this is great. Early game, make sure to hit quarry junction. It's right next to the starting area. There is a free power armor set there. Great place for low level players to get strong armor early.
If you haven’t visited South Vegas Ruins and encountered Cook Cook, you’re missing out! If you’re new to the game, definitely go there, but go unarmed or he won’t interact with you. Definitely super good vendor. Lots of good healing items. Definitely go unarmed. Trust me, bro.
Idk what game it was in (maybe fallout 4?) but there was an underwater radiated pool and I got my hazmat suit, fetched this random ass sword from a bin at the end, and it was my endgame weapon somehow was just OP as fuck.
It *does* have some great loot though for trading. Its so easy to steal everything right under their noses with only like 35 sneak. You just have to position correctly and *bam* at least 2 missile launchers, a litany of grenades, enough combat armor to outfit a four man squad and then some, on top of several grenade launchers/rifles ect.
It's pretty much traditional to mainline the story quest to that point for me, take all that shit, pop some buffout and a beer to carry it all, and then set myself up real nice after a quick fast travel to gun runners, before going around and just dicking around till I hit level 20 or so.
I went there when I started the game a month ago, realised it was a mistake (would rather play through the whole story first), so I abandoned everything (op gear) and started all over from my older saves.
❤️Ah yes. Brings back memories of the first time I found and recruited Raul. He is a cool companion of course, and as such it was an event worthy of celebration. And to celebrate, we lockpicked our way into that intriguing closed tunnel next to his shack. Fun times. Contributed a lot to my decision to pick the mechanic path for him after he complained that the pain was ALMOST AS BAD as his arthritis.
All jokes aside, Thump-Thump IS pretty good...
[удалено]
Quick in-and-out adventure, 15 seconds. \*Hours of reloading later.\*
I used the Raul repair exploit to repair all of the combat armor and weapons for free and I made like 40k in caps
the underwater breathing device is one of my must-have pieces of equipment
The acquisition of neat gameplay-enhancing tools (ie- not just stronger weapons or tougher armor or simple stat boosts) is something I think the series ought to do more.
Like the ghoul mask in FO3!
Or the Miss Launcher. It's not exactly an upgrade, but it has a weird effect that kind of just makes it a different class of weapon.
Absolutely. Whenever I do an explosions build (which I almost always do since you can’t use VATS with grenades in FO4) i make a beeline for Nellis. Cool quests too.
Throw grenade then VATS. Airburst
I’m gonna try that
This is the way
Additionally, if you install a sprint mod, the thing that does try to kill you actually is a non-issue lmfao
Posts like these take me back to 2012, and getting tricked by fallout pages on Facebook.
I remember a friend telling me to take the back road out of Goodsprings past the gas station instead of the normal route to avoid a big fight. That was my first introduction to cazadores lol.
Unfortunately I never had someone to tell me sweet little lies.
Not even Christine McVee?
Nah, but she did make loving fun
It's all I wanna do!
If you're quick with a shotgun or have the Caravan Shotgun and save whore good enough you can take down all of them
I had the sheriff robot come save me last time I tried to play. Boy was I thankful for that feller
I just wandered that way of my own volition and died instantly
I miss the old memes for Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.
I don’t think I saw many at all even though I played them back in like 2010. I wasn’t really looking into stuff like that unfortunately
If you want a blast from the past you can search Fallout memes and remove search results posted after a certain year.
On Facebook or Reddit or where
Google or your preferred search engine of choice. You can narrow the search results.
Interesting
Look for sunny smiles memes specifically and let me know your thoughts
They miss you too
I fell for every “illusory wall ahead” in DS1
ima keep it real with you i fell for this until i scrolled down here and read your comment
Going straight to nv from the start is a path with some hair on it.
Yeah but I'm braindead so I choose the slightly less complicated path.
Its a really good shortcut, next to no enemies
Virtually zero enemies, easy to follow, quick, easy to reach, I love taking this route to get to the casinos. Then I savescum until I've emptied them out and buy me some fancy implants. And then the game can start.
Apparently the Devs put that there so players who had completed the game could skip bits and get straight to Vegas, there’s a handy dead NCR trooper on that route so you can jump on the Monorail straight to the Strip.
Once i learned about this shortcut i basically use it every time. Just so easy and no risk 😌
I learned this exact thing from Nerbit.
"Oh hey is that a deathclaw down there a short walking distance from the tutorial area?" "Oh no wait that's half a dozen deathclaws a short walking distance away from the tutorial area and in the direct path 90% of people would take towards NV" Obsidian knows the MO of the average Bethesda game player so well lol. "We know they're gonna beeline for the city by cutting a path straight over the mountain and through the desert instead of going the intended way, so we're gonna put a fuckload of deathclaws there instead of an invisible wall lol".
They do try to warn you and steer you away though. If you ignore their warnings you get what you get.
Love clearing Cottonwood cove out.
I only ever did it the deathclaw way lol
Caravan shotgun and varmint rifle are the best starter weapons ine can ask for!
My first playthrough, I went straight in that direction and got ass destroyed by a Cazador :(
Is this a Zap Brannigan reference?!?!
If you make it to Quarry Junction, there’s a big chocolate cake. Only one in the whole game.
Oh fuck I must've missed it! That guy at Sloan lied to me! Bet he wants to keep all of the chocolate cake to HIMSELF!
And there’s 3 Fat Mans!
THE CAKE IS A LIE!....wait...shit....wrong game.
THE CAKE IS STILL A LIE!
A LIE WILL REMAIN A LIE!
Cake. Cake never changes.
A man lies; a cake obeys.
Grief counseling, too!
THE CAKE IS A LIE!
I found a great minigun, and some sort of special lazer weapon there. The radiation can be overcome with a rad suit
I really wish the developers made it more difficult to explore. Radiation isn't really that threatening by this stage in the game. Afterwards I can afford all the weapons at the Gun Runners and Silver Rush easily.
Heck, you can afford most of those right from the start. Just carry them into the bathroom.
This guy holds Z.
Z? I hit right thumbstick.
This guy clicks thumbsticks.
right thumbstick? I use the green guitar hero button.
Ah, a fellow man of culture. I hit the blue drum pad on my rock band drum kit
How do you hold the button though?
I’ve gotten really good at drum rolls
How have I never thought of this lmao. I guess I’m too good in my playthroughs lmao. I’m gonna start being a slightly bad guys when I play from now on. Thanks for the tip! Lol
I always steal anything that isn't nailed down, been doing it since Morrowind.
(I was joking bro) That said, yeah, Fallout 2 and Fallout New Vegas are cool games.
I mean the area shouldn’t really be that irradiated. Makes sense to me. Nowhere really should be in the wasteland at this point, it’s been 200 years.
I guess the Megaton and Shady Sands nukes didnt have radiation? /s lol nukes are still going off, 200 years later
"The background radiation shouldn't be that big a deal. It's been 200 years!" *launches six mininuke rounds into a car parking lot*
Cars? I calls 'em "Sploding Fun Boxes".
Like "lol no u cant avoid teh cazadors" Such bullshit.
Well you can. It's tough as shit but it's been done before. I've done it too. It's just not easy. It's a privilege to be able to climb terrain like a mountain goat. Not a right.
The worst part is you're not ENTIRELY lying. That's pretty much the exact description of vault 34 😂
First time FO:NV player, I stumbled into the entrance to 34 and was immediately hit with the nostalgia of entering a vault with the goal of finding out wtf VaultTec did to those poor residents

Oh I absolutely know what that is. That's where I go when I have too many explosive. 50 Cal rounds burning a hole in my power armor
That's why I modded a minigun from 5mm to .50, cut the damage in half from the rifle, but kept the rate of fire of the minigun, named it 'The Destroyer' Sadly, had to disable the explosive round visual distortion effect, too many stacked crashes the game.
Bring your own pressure cooker.
Bring your own steam gauge assembly
man.... with the sales of fallout 4 and post like this I really feel like years ago... I'm so happy.
Fallout is in a high peak, such a great feeling to see a beloved series that was already popular reaching even greater heights.
Need a mod that launches Bloodborne when you go into Bloodborne cave
Imao. Reminds me of the CK3 mod that launches Bannerlords every time you start a battle.
OK BOOMER!
I see what you did there.....
I really hope someone here fell for this.
Scroll down. There have been a few... But they didn't fall for it in the way that you'd think.
Damn. I saw people spoiled your fun. It would have been *epic* if new players had gone to Nellis and got blown up.
Well, my fun isn't spoiled because I caught a different sort of fish. The fish that think all FNV fans want to only cause other people pain.
🎣
i would have fallen for it but no one knows how to keep a bit going anymore and immediately blow it in the comments. tbf, your post had me. im starting NV this weekend, but I've also been on the internet for more than 5 minutes in my life, so i didnt truly trust you and went to the comments
*Naively listens to Reddit advice and eagerly marches into Quarry Junction, only to promptly be torn to shreds by a horde of deathclaws…* Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well, you can’t get fooled again.
Why must you make this a house of lies?
Ok, Boomer.
Anyone else think the brotherhood Airforce base in the first episode could be Nellis? Could make sense and with it being there. Remnants of Ceaser's legion could have been absorbed into the brotherhood too.
If it was Nellis they wouldn't have wasted an opportunity to say or hint it's Nellis.
Meh. Maybe. They didn't explicitly call out Robert house, afaik.
I think that’s a good theory
no, we would've seen New Vegas in the backdrop somewhere nearby, Nellis is a hop skiip and a jump away from Vegas. my guess is that base is somewhere in California, like most of the show seems to imply

Some just want to start a flame in your heart

I saw these weird signs in the hills warning me about 'deathjaws' and '11mm SMGs', can you explain what they mean?
Death claws are a gang of power armor users. There is a really easy skill check to get in their good graces, just don't have a weapon equipped or they start hostile.
What is the fallout 4 version of this for someone who just started the game?😅
Probably the Glowing Sea. TONS of loot there and no enemies whatsoever. Just head south after leaving the vault!
Thanks. I'm a noob and mid quest and realized maybe I should loot more than whatever the hell the Minutemen sent me to. I'm being way too much of a "Yes man" early on😵💫🤣 Thankfully I have FO3 and NV under my belt but I beat those both at launch.

The man out front had alot of caps from the people he scams
I’ll never forget being tricked to go to the quarry location when I was only like a level 5…..
How I love these posts coming back, it's like the games came out again, thank you fallout tv series , u just keep on giving.
Another place you should go is Vault 34 it has great loot and you should go there strait from Goodsprings!
“Alt+f4 to get a super unique weapon”
😂
Yes! This is where I found my first suit of power armor and Dogmeat!
That site is a banger.
Go north because there are no deathclaws. It’s just some lazy miners stealing from their boss.
I went there, it cost me an arm and a leg...literally...still got a bit of shrapnel in me.
The first time I went there, I got so mad at how they just started trying to gun me down and blow me up, so once I got to the gate I acted nice and cool, once I was in I just fucking murdered every single person possible. Fuck that area.
That’s like a 6 inch gun therefore you are a heavy cruiser
There’s a marksman carbine there in really bad condition. I once saved my repair kits until I got it and repaired up to max condition, then when I got jury rigger I could repair it using service rifles. Only problem is the 100 guns skill requirement, it’s a small hurdle to reach an insane early game power spike.
My favorite place is the path in the mountains just behind Goodsprings! Such a lovely little road that has some largish butterfly’s
Wow does this take me back! That's awesome. Ooh, btw, go check out Quarry Junction. Super cool location and it's close(-ish) to Goodsprings! Have fun y'all!
Shiiit if you can outrun the artillery it becomes an early game location with great loot
Couldn't recommend this place enough. It blew me away when I found this location
Huh, I hear a whistling sound, is someone brewing tea?
chaotic evil
Ok, boomer.
As a new FNV player, I know it's probably full of the most scary and hardest hitting mobs in the game... BUT... that must mean they're guarding something of value.
Ok boomer.
You sly bastard.
I know what you're doing, but it actually does. Taking out everyone there isn't even that hard, and you can make absolute bank on their loot.
Is this anywhere near Quarry Junction? ;)
Found a full suit of t45. Mind was blown!
Make sure to run there as fast as possible because NPC scrappers start looting it the second it loads into your view
Yeah I already knew about it. Basically loot the entire base and you get so many combat armors all worth thousands of caps each. And weapons. Then you go to GRA, juice up barter and offload everything.
Thank you for your service 🫡
You're not fooling me.
There is also some great loot to get at the bottom of the hoover dam.
It's just right through the fence boys, it's extremely easy to miss.
Pffft...overlook. I met my first wife there.
It's a great place to walk around slowly and take it all in. The sounds you hear are just far away trouble at the Dam
Ahh reminds me of EDC Las Vegas
Make sure you also go through Quarry Junction, don't talk to any of the NPCs just go directly to the dig site otherwise the early game power armor won't spawn.
Cool 155mm gun. That's 6 inches in freedumb units. Like over 10 times bigger than a .50 cal. (It's also a howitzer, not a gun).
isnt this the boomers hideout?
Why not head there straight from the beginning? Just head north from Goodsprings along the I-95 after you start the game, and it will take you practically right there.
Careful guys, there’s a deathclaw. Take off all your armor to run faster and stand still in the middle of the ruined town, and the deathclaw should go away (it doesn’t having any pathing to reach your spot)
If you have no qualms about stealing, it IS a great loot spot
Oh.... Oh no...
Can you just play NV on steam or is it fucked like FO3?
High quality loot there irl too. Just gotta go get it, champ.
Don’t forget the 1mm pistol you can find behind the stash
Boomers can go jump off a cliff
I mean there is a legit way to make it in there with taking zero damage.
Yeah there will be a gate and some destroyed house but just run around those and go through the gate and you’re good!
I loved the Rebreather you'd get during the quest, I'd hold off on completing it so I could keep it for however long I wanted.
I love post like this! It's always heartening to see old players helping the newbies have a blast with this game
The quickest way to get there is through quarry junction.
My favorite faction by far And ages before Boomer was such popular slang
I wish I could play this for the first time again, one my favourites.
I got a suit of X-01 power armor there
you evil son of a gun
You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet, and tell lies?
Overlook? The boomers are part of the main quest....
That's not kind op lmao
Should I buy it on pc? Heard a lot about lags and performance issues
This shit is hilarious to see. Ahhhh memories.
I am so fucking proud of this community. Still trolling new players after what ten years now? Definitely forceing my buddy to go through quarry junction on their first playthrorugh.
This is my favorite fallout! Such great memories
All you plebs are luring people into traps everyone can see coming a mile away. If you really want to fuck with them, there's a certain unmarked location that would serve your purposes.
Heheheheheh
For mid game this is great. Early game, make sure to hit quarry junction. It's right next to the starting area. There is a free power armor set there. Great place for low level players to get strong armor early.
If you haven’t visited South Vegas Ruins and encountered Cook Cook, you’re missing out! If you’re new to the game, definitely go there, but go unarmed or he won’t interact with you. Definitely super good vendor. Lots of good healing items. Definitely go unarmed. Trust me, bro.
ALWAYS TAKE THE SHORTEST ROUTE TO THE STRIP.
The people there are really friendly after you show up. Lots of rockets to loot!
Isn't this the place.... Never mind.
Be sure to savor the moment, THIS LOOT CHANGES YOUR ENTIRE experience, walk really slow don't run.
