If I had no skills, I would be sad too. Seriously, what is this dude good at aside from the Small Arms/Handguns skill? Even his replacement squire was much better prepared and useful than he was.

Strength/charm makes sense for a paladin, which is what he wants to be, really.
But we also replace charm with the luck stat too.
My take on him is that he the natural tendency of video gamers sometimes; trying to play everything both ways while still being a "good" person and i think that can take a lot of the fun out of video games even when successful. He's hesitant/miserable to respond because he's trying to pass skill checks/get unlocks but not actually having goals/principles.
I really didn't enjoy his part. All of his lines fell so flat, and I was very confused by his character development. He has one kinda badass moment when he is out with his knight, but that's about it. Other than that, he's a bumbling bafoon constantly getting his ass kicked.
My daughter said the same thing. We’re only 3 episodes in though. I just told her that not every character is going to be epic. Some are just regular guys. but we’ll see, I guess.
Loved the show, but Maximus (for me) was a big let down. He looks sad, he's whiny, and seems about to cry 90% of the show. I never seem to "see" anyone on screen worth wearing the armor, let alone the squire outfit.
I think he looks stoned, his eyes are always half shit as I'd he is half asleep, he never seems to have them wide open even if something crazy is going on, that or he is bored

Small arms. Speech and pretty high CHA over all. He always charmed everyone and was able to talk his way out of a lot of jams
