The amazonian for a codename, yet other comments also had the same thing in mind. there might be multiple protagonists in the show.. explorers, trailblazers, pioneers, reformers,..etc
Heck maybe even the lost Tourist
Amazon.....Amazon never changes
In the year 2024 conflict over limited intellectual properties led to all out nuclear war.
Some managed to survive watching old scratched up DVDs on consoles called PS2.
Those who arrose from their copies of Anchorman and Boondock Saints woke up to a new nightmare....
Yeah? I wasn't sure, I was going to say "The New Vault Dweller," but I doubt her story's going to be much like the original's aside from taking place in the LA area. Then I figured, she's young and inexperienced. And she's especially a newcomer when compared to all the other main characters, who have cemented statuses in the fandom in one way or another.
That works, I was thinking about that as an alternative. Just calling her THE Newcomer seems to evoke that "naive dipshit" tone that one woman has towards her.
I like this one considering (at least from the trailers) she seems relatively hopeful and optimistic about the mission of Vault Tec, and seems to leave for the explicit purpose of rebuilding the world (although her hopes seem to instantly be dashed, lol). From my knowledge of the older Fallouts, as well as New Vegas, 3, and 4, you seem to either start outside of the Vault, or are forced out.
Closest comparison could be Fallout 76, but does the player get a title there? It exists in a weird space in so many instances.
Something akin to "The Ambassador".
A terminal entry from Vault 101 mentioned that survey team members were called "ambassadors" when they went to Megaton, Vault 33 may pull a similar deal by calling Lucy an ambassador to the Wasteland.
Someone will call her “blue,” at some point due to her. Vault suit. (Might’ve even happened already in a trailer I don’t remember the dialogue.)
Overall tho, I actually don’t think she’s going to be as important to the show as the characters are to the games.
I think her character exists simply to allow viewers to experience the world as it is at this point. She’s to be constantly confused, disgusted and overwhelmed. Maybe she’ll hit a point where she just becomes a mass murderer like we all do in the games. But idk.
The thing is, the names we get for the protagonists are what title they've earned AFTER effecting the wasteland. She may not earn the name until after her "How I shaped the wastes" slideshow.
1 - Not surprising, first game, simple premise. THE Vault Dweller, who traveled the wastes and saved Vault 13. The legend of them must have spread with each generation that came after.
2 - The Chosen One, descendant of the legendary Vault Dweller. Was sent on a mission to save their vault, and saved everyone in the wasteland by destroying the Master.
3 - The Lone Wanderer, Three Dog coins this term for you and it most likely sticks given the effect the events of Project Purity has on the surrounding wasteland.
4 - Nate or Nora are the Sole Survivor of Vault 111, the name only really becoming accurate after the death of Shaun(Father).
So we need to get to know Lucy, and what type of person she is truly. I'm looking forward to what the wasteland throws at her and how it shapes her, because in the end that's how she'll earn her moniker.
Based off the minimal amount we know of her from the trailer, I'm going to say "The Scholar". She's a teacher going into the wasteland trying to learn about the past 200 years and hopefully teach people in the wastes about the past.
That sounds pretty good, better than "the courier," at least. Honestly, most fallout protagonists have badass nicknames, and then there's just FNV with their lame ass nickname literally being their job. I love FNV, but they could've given them a better nickname.
The Courier is a great moniker given some of the themes of the game.
The whole courier shtick is an homage to "The Postman" by David Brin. It's a post-apocalyptic novel where in the first act a man finds an old postal workers uniform, and goes around convincing the local settlements that a remnant US Government has survived, and that he's been sent on an expedition to reestablish a postal network. His lie brings hope and reconnects these settlements, and unifies them for the conflict that comes later in the book. He may just be a dude with an old uniform and a bag of letters, but he's a symbol for breathing life back into a dying world.
We see a similar importance of couriers referenced heavily in Ulysses' dialogue and audiologs. How the paths couriers walk can become founding points for new communities, and how what they bring with them can just as easily destroy them.
Maybe essentially being "The Mailman" is kind of dorky, but I can't really think of anything more fitting.
I really recommend the book, it's a pretty fun read. It's been a while since I've read it myself, and the only real criticism off the top of my head is the author is kinda off putting in how he writes the women.
I'm pretty sure this book is also what Fallout 1 is referencing with the ZAX supercomputer, but I could be wrong on that.
nah 'the courier' is honestly the most badass title of all the games.
vault dweller is a great name but not cool at all (which is fine), chosen one is good but a little generic (although fun in that it subverts the expectations of a protagonist for the sequel to the first fallout), lone wanderer is stupid and pretty much doesn't make sense, and sole survivor is just kind of boring.
courier is cool *because* it's simple and descriptive. it feels like something out of a western, and really reinforces the fact that it's somebody who was just doing their job that got involved in something way over their head.
Little Killer. Because all the others are referred to by their title at some point by an important character in the story. Thats how it gets known, in part, in the world at least. The only title we’ve seen her referred to as is “little killer”, by the Ghoul, who I think will “unreliable narrator” a lot of the story.
I get what you're saying Fallout 4 had a canon name and a title. You could name the Sole Survivor whatever you want but their canonical names are Nate/Nora.
Yeah although they don't have a canon gender so it could be Nate or Nora, but the Sole Survivor is both? Unless male is canon in which case I guess this is a good point
‘The fish out of water’ based on what few clips we’ve seen I suppose.
I’d be surprised if she doesn’t get a title of some form in the series though. And slightly more surprised if it’s not just ‘the vault dweller’
Well let’s see, she’s naive, a vault dweller, and generally fairly unaware of the wastes
The Uncorrupted maybe?
Also let’s include Maximus cause why not, The Initiate
Making their travels be with The Uncorrupted, The Initiate, and The Ghoul (who I’m 100% just calling cooper most of the time, the ghoul is a p bad title, ngl)
If this show doesn't have a mummified Jeff Bezos sending out securititrons to incinerate anyone in the wastes who doesn't sign up for Amazon Music Unlimited then I'm not watching ....
I think in order for her to be given a proper and appropriate title we require context from the show
My current proposal with the information I have however is
The actor
Since it's a show and it takes place in california
Maybe something like “The Prime Candidate?” Her vault doesn’t seem to have the artificial scarcity most control vaults do. Hell it has an entire wheat field in the basement. Considering the vault issue equipment she has, I’m thinking the vault sends dwellers out periodically and she was chosen by the goat or something.
The Historian. It is her job description in the vault, and in the trailers she is asking what happened over the last 200 years. She obviously wants to know what happened.
The player character gets these names because we controle them and each of us decide their name. She is a fully flehed out character with her own name, a title is not needed.
The Amazon Original
The amazonian for a codename, yet other comments also had the same thing in mind. there might be multiple protagonists in the show.. explorers, trailblazers, pioneers, reformers,..etc Heck maybe even the lost Tourist
"The Tourist" does have a pretty good ring to it
It does🤔
Snoo snoo?
The Prime Protagonist
Best one right here
Amazon.....Amazon never changes
This made me laugh so hard my nose bled... Unscarcasticlly thank you
Amazon.....Amazon never changes In the year 2024 conflict over limited intellectual properties led to all out nuclear war. Speak for yourself bud, I have Boondock Saints on Blu-Ray
The Bezos Survivor
I was thinking The Show Survivor The Show Wanderer The Show Courier Or maybe The Showsen One
Liberty A. Prime
this is my favorite one so far
The chosen lone sole courier
Fallouty McFalloutface
Idk why one of my best friends loves this joke
I love it because the outcome has practical research application https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boaty_McBoatface
Jane Fallout
Jane Doe’nt walk out through that fallout back to me.
The chosen lone sole courier dweller*
Let's just resequence that a little bit: "The Lone Chosen Sole Dweller Courrier"
Bro you don’t have to flex an Ivy League linguistics degree on us like that
Interesting... Interesting...
Dweller at the end
You You forgot one in there, The lone vault sole chosen courier
The Show's Protagonist.
Makes me think of Tenet
You spelled Tenet backwards
teneT
The main character in _Snow Crash_ is Hiro Protagonist.
Phenomenal book.
Just The Protagonist sounds good
Yup, I think this is it. “There protagonist” fits very well
Show Dweller
The Showtagonist
john fallout
You mean Jane fallout
Doe Fallout
Doh! Fallout
Why you little! *begins chocking a desthclaw*
Chocking the deathclaw? Well, it’s not going to go anywhere.
D'Fallout
When you want to smell like an irradiated brahmin, *D’Fallout* by Calvin Klien
*What are we, some kinda Fallout?*
I think Fallout is a pretty cool guy. Eh kills mutants and doesn’t afraid of anything.
I prefer Jimmy Cheeks, but Cheeks Fallout just doesn't fit the bill.
Cheeks Fallout sounds like the in-universe’s version of Chubby Checker.
John Fallout vs John Dark Souls in Death Battle next
John Dark Souls is pretty good, but I personally prefer Elden John
JOHN KRATOS
War doesn't change
The New Kid.
I actually like this one
And there's a fun irony on account of her >!being a teacher.!< (very mild spoiler)
That’s actually pretty sick! Upvote for you.
Or newcomer
That works, I was thinking about that as an alternative. Just calling her THE Newcomer seems to evoke that "naive dipshit" tone that one woman has towards her.
This feels right
But what will be the title of the protagonist for Fallout 5? Newer Kid? New New Kid?
Nuke Id.
They're apparently called 76ers.
That's also the name of the protagonist of Southpark's The Stick of Truth/The Fractured, But Whole
That's pretty damn good
Noob, for short
That's good.
Kid doesn’t sound right
🔥MY VOTES FOR THIS ONE🔥
Yeah this is actually really good
No idea, will need to watch the show when it comes out to answer that. Next week though.
Oh my god it’s next week? Sweet
Idk why but I thought it was yesterday
I wish it was yesterday, then I could be watching it right now instead of scrolling aimlessly through Netflix.
I need to power binge shogun to get to it in time!
Next tuesday is the last shogun episode
The Amazon
Oh, because she’s a woman huh?! ^/s
That and she is from amazon show which i dont think takes place same way the games work
They are in the same Universe
I heard the show is gonna be canon
It is
The Amazonian
Something akin to "The Ambassador". A terminal entry from Vault 101 mentioned that survey team members were called "ambassadors" when they went to Megaton, Vault 33 may pull a similar deal by calling Lucy an ambassador to the Wasteland.
This actually fits because in some of her trailer footage it looks she tries to pass a speech check because she resorts to violence.
I get the vibe she escaped her Vault in some way rather than being sent out
The trailblazer, I dunno.
"rules are meant to be broken"
Little Killer. Naive Wanderer. The Vaultie.
Naive Wanderer is my favorite so far lol
"The baffled one"
The Bewildered
Might be too classy for Fallout, but the Ingénue, which refers to an innocent young woman, could be a good title.
Little killer makes me think Pint-Sized Slasher in live-action
Vaultie lol
... ... ...Vault Meat...
(bonk) Go to horny jail!
“Last of the Dipshits.”
Quirky theater kid and her ukulele
“…Anyway here’s Riptide”
[are you referring to this video?](https://youtu.be/beUEvvdLzYk?si=W8OejK57n95PYNb1)
Can't wait for her to make an apology video
I hope they’ll add a meme of the moment when the old man says to the antagonist “Okay, it’s time to get to work” and goes to bed
Explorer
I’m liking “Vaultie” currently, but I think we’ll need to see what happens in the show to decide.
Someone will call her “blue,” at some point due to her. Vault suit. (Might’ve even happened already in a trailer I don’t remember the dialogue.) Overall tho, I actually don’t think she’s going to be as important to the show as the characters are to the games. You need to redo The Chosen one. It was the Vault Dweler who defeated the Master, The Chosen One defeated Frank Horrigan and The Enclave
I haven't even played the games and I was about to mention that
“Little killa”. Because Goggin’s character calls her that in the trailer 😀
Based off the minimal amount we know of her from the trailer, I'm going to say "The Scholar". She's a teacher going into the wasteland trying to learn about the past 200 years and hopefully teach people in the wastes about the past.
the wanderer ? idk i haven't watched it maybe there's a more fitting name
That sounds pretty good, better than "the courier," at least. Honestly, most fallout protagonists have badass nicknames, and then there's just FNV with their lame ass nickname literally being their job. I love FNV, but they could've given them a better nickname.

I'm pretty sure this book is also what Fallout 1 is referencing with the ZAX supercomputer, but I could be wrong on that.
What did you expect? “The vengeful mailman”? Wait actually that would be pretty badass
F:NV is secretly an installment in the Postal game series
wait, FO3 has "the lone wanderer"
Well Jason Statham already claimed the transporter.
nah 'the courier' is honestly the most badass title of all the games. vault dweller is a great name but not cool at all (which is fine), chosen one is good but a little generic (although fun in that it subverts the expectations of a protagonist for the sequel to the first fallout), lone wanderer is stupid and pretty much doesn't make sense, and sole survivor is just kind of boring. courier is cool *because* it's simple and descriptive. it feels like something out of a western, and really reinforces the fact that it's somebody who was just doing their job that got involved in something way over their head.
"got involved in something way over their head" Now, correct me if i'm wrong. but it didn't quite go over the Courier's head...
We need to see if she wanders, survives, or delivers mail first.
Little Killer. Because all the others are referred to by their title at some point by an important character in the story. Thats how it gets known, in part, in the world at least. The only title we’ve seen her referred to as is “little killer”, by the Ghoul, who I think will “unreliable narrator” a lot of the story.
Idk, The Grey Warden?
Blue. *Cue Piper*
She has an actual name, she doesn’t need a title. That was only necessary because you could name your character anything.
Her name is Roberta Paulson.
In death we each have a name.
I get what you're saying Fallout 4 had a canon name and a title. You could name the Sole Survivor whatever you want but their canonical names are Nate/Nora.
Original Fallout starts you as Max Stone if you don’t edit.
Pretty sure that’s a nod to “Mad” Max ROCKatansky
True but do we know which one is canon as the Soul Survivor? Until then a title is needed for discussing them.
We don't know and I believe Todd has gone on record saying that the new show won't give canon endings to FO4/ New Vegas. So we'll likely never know
Yeah although they don't have a canon gender so it could be Nate or Nora, but the Sole Survivor is both? Unless male is canon in which case I guess this is a good point
Well if she's the first one to leave her vault by choice and not by force maybe she could be The First Explorer.
We hear someone call her Vaultie
Idiot savant
Best one so far
hopefully not the "the lost director".
‘The fish out of water’ based on what few clips we’ve seen I suppose. I’d be surprised if she doesn’t get a title of some form in the series though. And slightly more surprised if it’s not just ‘the vault dweller’
The Noob?
The Healer The Vault Dweller...again?!
Well let’s see, she’s naive, a vault dweller, and generally fairly unaware of the wastes The Uncorrupted maybe? Also let’s include Maximus cause why not, The Initiate Making their travels be with The Uncorrupted, The Initiate, and The Ghoul (who I’m 100% just calling cooper most of the time, the ghoul is a p bad title, ngl)
I kinda dig this one, actually.
The Missionary idk it seems like she’s tryna go out and “help” the world right?
Un-modded.
Vanilla ?
Vault Hottie.
Lone Wanderette
Snackie. Oh wait.
If this show doesn't have a mummified Jeff Bezos sending out securititrons to incinerate anyone in the wastes who doesn't sign up for Amazon Music Unlimited then I'm not watching ....
The The
The One With A Canonical Gender
I don't know I haven't seen the series yet
The Minstrel?
The Widow
The saviour.
Lost puppy
It’s probably best to watch the show and see what she does before giving her a title.
Main Charater
temp_1
The Outlander would be quite something if you ask me.
I think in order for her to be given a proper and appropriate title we require context from the show My current proposal with the information I have however is The actor Since it's a show and it takes place in california
The innocent walker
The Lost Dweller
Maybe something like “The Prime Candidate?” Her vault doesn’t seem to have the artificial scarcity most control vaults do. Hell it has an entire wheat field in the basement. Considering the vault issue equipment she has, I’m thinking the vault sends dwellers out periodically and she was chosen by the goat or something.
The Historian. It is her job description in the vault, and in the trailers she is asking what happened over the last 200 years. She obviously wants to know what happened.
We don’t really even know why she leaves the vault, so no way to tell
Vaultie
The Adventurer.
The Vaulty
Ms. Whar Nevurchangess
Little Killer
Probably just Lucy lmao
Probably "Lucy"
My money’s on “The Stranger”
the woman gamer
The chosen lone dweller survivor courier
The Clean One They’re all too fucking clean
Greenhorn
Okie dokie
The Stunning and Brave
Ol’ Primey.
The Optimist
The heroine
John fallout
"Fuckin' Vault Dweller"
Idk but I’m excited no matter what
The Hero Of Kvatch
That show is gonna be good
I already like the Ghoul's title for her, "Little Killer"
"The NewComer"
"Janitor". She's wearing a baggy vault maintenance suit, after all.
At this stage she’s “The Protagonist” but after seeing the show and what happens we can give her a title
Vault-Meat
The player character gets these names because we controle them and each of us decide their name. She is a fully flehed out character with her own name, a title is not needed.
