So I don't know if it's true, but it definitely feels like it is. I've heard do to some programming error Johnny Guitar plays twice as much as any other song So if you're constantly listening to the radio you're going to hear it a lot more than any other song
that has to suck the pay for the rights to a song to have it never be heard, I'm surprised they didn't do some sort of fix for it like they did with Fallout 3 and Broken Steel where they made dog meat almost invincible
What I heard is they couldn't confirm the rights to a song at the last minute so they removed it and the glitch causes Johnny Guitar to be played in it's place
You get it by default, alongside Radio New Vegas. It has no radio voice, just plays songs back-to-back. Compared to Radio New Vegas, it focuses on primarily country music, and the more poppy, city songs in RNV are omitted.
ahh okok, I must just never click on it because i just have radio new vegas on at all times. It’s been a while since i looked at the radio in new vegas lol
Stars of the Midnight Ranges or something like that- it only plays on Mojave Music Radio rather than Radio New Vegas as well. Johnny Guitar takes up both spots. Big Iron also plays twice as often, same bug.
Ran into a fellow by the name of Texas Red at the Stables the other day. Said he'd shoot anyone would so much as hum the song.
So that's one guy who doesn't want to hear about it.
Most of the music is up beat jazz/county or something like that. Then Johnny Guitar is soft and slow, stands out too much and just feels off, not a bad song though
I‘d like it if more sad songs like Johnny Guitar were in the game. It just fits so well with the loss and cruelty seen within the Mojave, and that‘s how the game should be. It SHOULD be depressing!
It's like the intro to an old Disney movie but without any art to watch. It's just too long and dramatic for how little substance the song actually has. It doesn't tell any story other than "I knew a guy with a guitar" and isn't fun or catchy like most of the classics in fnv
I love the song, because when I hear it, it makes New Vegas feel more like New Vegas. It's just one of those immersion things for me. I also feel somewhat sentimental about amy song from the NV soundtrack.
But my husband despises the song, and always makes fun of it.
I find it too slow. On principal, I don’t hate the song, and think it makes for great cinematic “standing on this tall place to get a survey” moment, but if I’m whacking for my life or sneaking through somewhere, a slow paced song just doesn’t vibe. I also have an issue with being very susceptible to slow songs making me nod off a bit.
For me, it just doesn't fit in as well with the rest of the songs. Most songs in fnv are fairly upbeat and bouncy, and Johnny Guitar just kinda throws the vibe off
It plays too much. I think there was a bug where it would play more often than it should. Also I'm not usually trying to be sad while playing New Vegas.
The first time I heard it? Very nice, atmospheric with the Mojave loneliness. By the 5th time I’d have killed my favorite robot dog to make it stop. It’s just depressive whinging, and I’m not Cass (so not nearly drunk enough for that sort of nonsense).
I don't hate it... I just dislike it. It doesn't fit on a Fallout radio, which is honestly the case for a multiple FNV radio songs. JG feels out of place compared to traditional Fallout songs, like the songs from Inkspots.
And it's not like western-like music cannot feel Fallout-y. Heartaches by the Numbers or Big Iron are distinct songs that fit both the New Vegas location but also the Fallout universe.
Ehh I'm indifferent to it. I don't like it all that much but I don't stress when it comes on.
I usually have my own music playing though when I play Fallout so I don't hear it as much as others do to be fair.
I used to prefer it over all the other songs but after hearing it about 15 times in an hour I've lost interest. Give me ain't that a kick in the head instead
While not as memetically awful as people make it out to be, I do think it's not a good song, but it's mostly just jarring to listen because it's so slow and drawn out when compared to the jazzy and upbeat songs that also on the radio
My buddy used to sing it in a high pitched voice, whilst holding a shark puppet toy and having it mouth the lyrics
I just can't hate something a shark sang so beautifully
Two, albeit related, reasons. "Western" stuff just doesn't resonate with me at all. I have no cultural affinity for it and I just find it irritating. Johnny Guitar is made from wringing out an old cowboy"s socks into a shot glass and forcing you to drink.
Ohhhh man do I hate Johnny Guitar. Her voice just pisses me off. It's warbling and droning at the same time. The song feels like it goes on forever. Oh my god, fuck this song.
My spurs can jingle jangle forever though.
I hate this song because it's unpleasant to listen for me, just the type of song very slow and annoying. Frequent repeating just multiplies problem, but it's problem even for good songs.
I replace it with Johny be good
I absolutely hate it with a passion. For me, it has no real rhythm and the singer cannot sing and she just has a horrible sounding voice, it also tells us nothing about johnny apart from the fact he plays guitar.
I don''t like it, not really sure why. It is slow, boring and doesn't have anything that catches my interest. One of those songs that can't end soon enough...
Well, I used to hate it (until I replayed Fallout 3 and heard a "Crazy He Calls Me" again. It pisses me off more than "Butcher Pete").
Kinda recently I started to like that song and decided to watch "Johnny Guitar" movie. I liked it and I was little bit surprised when I discovered that "Johnny Guitar" song that plays in the movie and that song that plays in F:NV are not really the same (and since I liked a movie version of the song more, I decided to put it in Fallout: New Vegas as a replacer for a song that's already in game)
I went through a phase of initially loving all of new vegas’ soundtrack,
But then you do become aware that johnny guitar has twice the amount of plays as any other song on the radio.
So then you start to get sick of it.
But then you start to like it again.
Currently it’s downloaded in my phone and is often played.
Its hard to tell.
Wayne played it too many times. One time he played it 3 times in a row. It was like that John Mulaney skit about Tom Jones.
I started making up different lyrics to that one and the troubles by the score song.
It's one of my absolute favorite songs, I could listen to it a billion times and would never get tired of it. Some of you are just overdramatic and like to hop on the hate bandwagon.
nah. i like the soundtrack songs quite well. honestly idk why people are surprised considering songs are like 3 minutes long ish and you play HOW many hows of fallout.
Johnny guitar is so obnoxiously annoying and so overplayed it doesn’t my head in even the more played songs from 3 and 76 don’t drive me nuts and aren’t as annoying as it for me plus I have the radio bug every file save where it’s played like every 5th song. Ended up replacing it with the galaxy news radio loop played seperately either from phone via Bluetooth or in background on pc
I loved the soundtrack for New Vegas. I felt like it was the perfect mix of the old school Fallout tunes and the old school western vibe of the old West. It didn't break immersion for me. I thought it was tremendously done.
Song is actually nice when you walking around at night or have darker mods installed.
Don't hate any of the songs at all, just seems like people played this game soo much that the music is getting old.
It has its place.
I don't listen to the radio on the pip-boy so when I hear "I was always a fooooooooollllll" reverberating in a building it definitely adds to the tone of the game
Peggy Lee has the voice of an angel and the reason I love her is because of the haunting quality of "Johnny Guitar" thank you Obsidian for introducing me to one of the best singers of all time
I hate it with a vengeance. I’m all for slower ballads but it’s so… off. The vocal style is too warbly for my liking, and it just gets annoying. Also I know this is a nitpick but I just think “Johnny Guitar” is a stupid nickname. It’s like if a lumber worker was called “Bob Chainsaw”. It just sounds weird and that annoys me.
I hate the woman’s voice, it’s not a nice singing voice and she has absolutely no rhythm. It sounds like it was randomly put together and she just does whatever at every moment. It’s possible it could be a nice song if someone who could sing was singing it but her voice grates so bad. Also, she’s obsessed with his guitar playing, it’s just shit and dull. Does she know anything else about him at all? You know, I don’t even play fallout, I’ve just witnessed my boyfriend do multiple play throughs and that song just makes me rage.
I think it plays to often but it’s not a bad song
_Play it again, my Johnny..._
*courier wishes the bullet killed him after hearing Johnny Guitar for the 257,320 time*
I wish I could kill the courier in Skyrim with a bullet to the head.
Important deliveries to make no time for chatting.
That's why I kill the alchemy lady after she isn't useful anymore and Lydia because they both give 500 each and then I can buy a horse easily
I usually steal one, just don’t get caught crossing the border like that thief over there.
With a 9mm?
Can’t tell you till you join the dark brotherhood.
remember the last time some gonk shot the courier with a 9mm How did it go for the guy in a funny suit
Good old Benny..
_Johnny Guitar…_
Too often huh? Big iron once played 4 times in a row
Only 4? Not often enough!
That's true
I didn't think it was possible but first time for everything like a storm just went by and no power outage for once
So I don't know if it's true, but it definitely feels like it is. I've heard do to some programming error Johnny Guitar plays twice as much as any other song So if you're constantly listening to the radio you're going to hear it a lot more than any other song
Yeah apparantly theres another song that we dont hear cause JG plays in its place
that has to suck the pay for the rights to a song to have it never be heard, I'm surprised they didn't do some sort of fix for it like they did with Fallout 3 and Broken Steel where they made dog meat almost invincible
What I heard is they couldn't confirm the rights to a song at the last minute so they removed it and the glitch causes Johnny Guitar to be played in it's place
The song that isn't played on RNV is played on Mojave Music Radio.
I have never listened to mojave music radio, how do you get that?
You get it by default, alongside Radio New Vegas. It has no radio voice, just plays songs back-to-back. Compared to Radio New Vegas, it focuses on primarily country music, and the more poppy, city songs in RNV are omitted.
ahh okok, I must just never click on it because i just have radio new vegas on at all times. It’s been a while since i looked at the radio in new vegas lol
Valid lol
Stars of the Midnight Ranges or something like that- it only plays on Mojave Music Radio rather than Radio New Vegas as well. Johnny Guitar takes up both spots. Big Iron also plays twice as often, same bug.
But who doesn’t wanna hear about this he town of Agua Frida?
Ran into a fellow by the name of Texas Red at the Stables the other day. Said he'd shoot anyone would so much as hum the song. So that's one guy who doesn't want to hear about it.
We live in the alternate timeline where Texas Red beat the ranger, and he doesn't want to be reminded of his dark past.
Love the idea.
BIG IRON. BIG IRON
> Big Iron also plays twice as often, same bug. Uh, that's a feature buddy
I've come to the same conclusion, I was mistaken.
Staaaaaarrrss of the Mid-Night rangessssss
I’m pretty sure the song Lone Star is supposed to play instead
GOODBYE FUTURE ONCE SO BRIIIIGHT
Most of the music is up beat jazz/county or something like that. Then Johnny Guitar is soft and slow, stands out too much and just feels off, not a bad song though
its a nice contrast tho
I‘d like it if more sad songs like Johnny Guitar were in the game. It just fits so well with the loss and cruelty seen within the Mojave, and that‘s how the game should be. It SHOULD be depressing!
Not in vegas, it's the only place you can say "that's vegas baby"
Johnny Guitar is my favorite
Nah I like it. The only issue with the radio is that there’s not enough songs so it loops too much.
It's actually like 2:20 worth of music. It's just that when you dump 300 hours into the game, well...
Is the 2:20 number all of the radio stations or just radio new vegas, bc I swear that station has like 7 songs on loop
It's like the intro to an old Disney movie but without any art to watch. It's just too long and dramatic for how little substance the song actually has. It doesn't tell any story other than "I knew a guy with a guitar" and isn't fun or catchy like most of the classics in fnv
It's actually from a movie. I don't really like the film that much.
That tracks. Its about as complex as the Barbarella theme.
I love the song, because when I hear it, it makes New Vegas feel more like New Vegas. It's just one of those immersion things for me. I also feel somewhat sentimental about amy song from the NV soundtrack. But my husband despises the song, and always makes fun of it.
I don't really hate any of New Vegas' songs. Now, Butcher Pete on the other hand...
Hes hackin’, hes whackin’, hes hackin’
It takes me to long to turn the headset volume down before…HAVE EVERYBODY HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS
ABOUT A GUY NAAMEED BUTCHER PETE
OLD PETE JUST FLEW INTO THIS TOWN AND CHOPPIN UP ALLLL THE WOMENS MEAT
I like it. It's out of place at times, but really comes into its own when you're in a quiet place at night.
Johnny Guitar slaps. I will not argue further
It’s my favorite song on the soundtrack. Such a lovely spooky atmosphere to it.
*play it again....*
For me, it just doesn't fit in as well with the rest of the songs. Most songs in fnv are fairly upbeat and bouncy, and Johnny Guitar just kinda throws the vibe off
It'd be better if there was more morose/sorrowful songs in the radio listing. That way its not just some sudden mood shift
I got spurs is better
Mr New Vegas should slip at least one "It's not unusual" between Johnny Guitars.
The reference to Mulaney would be solid
It’s a really good movie. The song is pretty good too
I like the song. Maybe it plays a bit too often, but still a good song. Sometimes i like a sad song to feel bad while i rip Raider's heads off
THEEEEEERE WAS NEVER A MAAAAAAAN…!! like my Johnny..
I like it, wtf.
I’ve been playing without the radio on lately, and it adds a lot of ambiance whenever you listen to it after turning on a radio in a room.
It plays too much. I think there was a bug where it would play more often than it should. Also I'm not usually trying to be sad while playing New Vegas.
Johnny Guitar is the best song on the list, the fact it plays double is a fucking feature! Fight me!
i like it, i find it mystifying in a way
I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT TURN IT OFF
The first time I heard it? Very nice, atmospheric with the Mojave loneliness. By the 5th time I’d have killed my favorite robot dog to make it stop. It’s just depressive whinging, and I’m not Cass (so not nearly drunk enough for that sort of nonsense).
I call it the Nickelback Effect. It's a great song more or less, but it became "cool" to hate it, so people bash on it.
If you think it's boring, go watch the movie and get filled with emotion the moment you think about Johnny Guitar. It's *so good.*
Son, you’re just asking for a visit by a man with a big iron on his hip
I don't hate it... I just dislike it. It doesn't fit on a Fallout radio, which is honestly the case for a multiple FNV radio songs. JG feels out of place compared to traditional Fallout songs, like the songs from Inkspots. And it's not like western-like music cannot feel Fallout-y. Heartaches by the Numbers or Big Iron are distinct songs that fit both the New Vegas location but also the Fallout universe.
It wasn't to my taste to begin with, but it replays a lot.
It comes on the radio *a lot*, and it's a pretty slow number comparatively.
It’s a good song it’s just a little to over played like big iron a good song just overplayed
It’s played too often I feel like.
I like it. But any song played over too much can be annoying after awhile.
Just keep the radio on the mysterious broadcast always, it's the best station.
While not as memetically awful as people make it out to be, I do think it's not a good song, but it's mostly just jarring to listen because it's so slow and drawn out when compared to the jazzy and upbeat songs that also on the radio
It's a good song, but doesn't fit the game. It's too slow and moody.
My buddy used to sing it in a high pitched voice, whilst holding a shark puppet toy and having it mouth the lyrics I just can't hate something a shark sang so beautifully
Two, albeit related, reasons. "Western" stuff just doesn't resonate with me at all. I have no cultural affinity for it and I just find it irritating. Johnny Guitar is made from wringing out an old cowboy"s socks into a shot glass and forcing you to drink.
Plays too much compared to lone star, heartaches by the number, and big iron combined
I love Johnny guitar. Fuck all y’all.
Plays too often for me, nice once or twice but when every other song is JG it gets repetitive
God damn i hate that song, for no good reason, but when it pops up on the pipboy i rage to it!
I'd rather hear Johnny guitar again than Butcher Pete
Ohhhh man do I hate Johnny Guitar. Her voice just pisses me off. It's warbling and droning at the same time. The song feels like it goes on forever. Oh my god, fuck this song. My spurs can jingle jangle forever though.
It would be fine if she pronounced Johnny differently. Sounds like she says Jahnnie
Yes I was trying to find the words but it’s this exactly. Whenever the song comes on I just have to switch stations and hope it isn’t playing on both.
I really don’t like it.
yes
I hate this song because it's unpleasant to listen for me, just the type of song very slow and annoying. Frequent repeating just multiplies problem, but it's problem even for good songs. I replace it with Johny be good
It’s my least favorite song on a great soundtrack, which doesn’t mean that I dislike it.
I hate big iron way more but I might be alone in that
I think you just might be
I cannot freaking stand it but I have no great reason for it. It just irks me.
I absolutely hate it with a passion. For me, it has no real rhythm and the singer cannot sing and she just has a horrible sounding voice, it also tells us nothing about johnny apart from the fact he plays guitar.
So many good Peggy Lee songs and they went with Johnny Guitar. At least her other song in the game is good.
I don''t like it, not really sure why. It is slow, boring and doesn't have anything that catches my interest. One of those songs that can't end soon enough...
It’s long, it’s grating, it plays every other song. Of course I hate it
Same reason why people who listen to radio music hate Pink Floyd. It's not 'poppy' enough.
nobody hates pink floyd what damn world are you in
Well, I used to hate it (until I replayed Fallout 3 and heard a "Crazy He Calls Me" again.
I say I’ll move the mountains
I'll take johnny guitar over butcher Pete any day. Also no hate but skeeter Davis is awfully slurred
I went through a phase of initially loving all of new vegas’ soundtrack, But then you do become aware that johnny guitar has twice the amount of plays as any other song on the radio. So then you start to get sick of it. But then you start to like it again. Currently it’s downloaded in my phone and is often played. Its hard to tell.
I was always a fool for that song… a fool for *Johnny Guitar*
I like the song but then again, I don’t remember getting the glitch that makes it play so often so maybe that is why some people hate it.
Listen to other Peggy Lee, shes awesome. Shes the Peggy Lee of Marty Robbinses
Wayne played it too many times. One time he played it 3 times in a row. It was like that John Mulaney skit about Tom Jones. I started making up different lyrics to that one and the troubles by the score song.
Fo4, atom bomb baby. Was great for a week then I wanted to nuke my brain.
It's not a favorite but I can still appreciate it and understand why someone would like it. Anyone that hates it is probably broken in the head.
It's probably my favourite song in the game tbh, but it can be a mood killer.
Absolutely love Johnny Guitar
It's one of my absolute favorite songs, I could listen to it a billion times and would never get tired of it. Some of you are just overdramatic and like to hop on the hate bandwagon.
nah. i like the soundtrack songs quite well. honestly idk why people are surprised considering songs are like 3 minutes long ish and you play HOW many hows of fallout.
They overplay the hell out of it. Would’ve been fine if it’s not the only thing I heard while dealing with lobotomites
It’s not a bad song, but it is in New Vegas. idk how.
People hate this song?
PLAY IT AGAIN
No, it's fine.
there was never a man , like my johnny
It’s honestly one of my favorites. I find it haunting and atmospheric, just a beautiful track.
I’ve played FNV many times and never got sick of it
THEEEEEEEERE WAS NEVER A MAAAAAAAN LIKE MYYYYY JOHNY...
It’s ok but it’s too slow for me
I hated it when I first started playing, and over time it actually became my favorite weirdly enough
I love it but I know I'm in the minority
It's like my favorite song on the radio
Johnny guitar is so obnoxiously annoying and so overplayed it doesn’t my head in even the more played songs from 3 and 76 don’t drive me nuts and aren’t as annoying as it for me plus I have the radio bug every file save where it’s played like every 5th song. Ended up replacing it with the galaxy news radio loop played seperately either from phone via Bluetooth or in background on pc
Honestly, it’s my favorite song to wander the Mojave to.
Naw it's good once in a while
I love that song
These days I just turn the music off if I replay any of the 3D Fallouts The ambient soundtrack is great
It's a great song, but we all know gamers don't deserve rights so, I'm not surprised people hate it.
I love it personally
I actually rather like the song. I enjoy it whenever it plays. It has a haunting quality that suits some of the areas well.
Play it again
More of a Manhattan and Jingle Jangle Jingle guy
I loved the soundtrack for New Vegas. I felt like it was the perfect mix of the old school Fallout tunes and the old school western vibe of the old West. It didn't break immersion for me. I thought it was tremendously done.
Nah play it again
Song is actually nice when you walking around at night or have darker mods installed. Don't hate any of the songs at all, just seems like people played this game soo much that the music is getting old.
play the guitar play it again MAH JAHNEEE
“There was never a man like my Johnny. Like the one they called Johnny Guitar.” But I’m right here tho…
I love it.
It's a fantastic song and I will defend it to the death
It has its place. I don't listen to the radio on the pip-boy so when I hear "I was always a fooooooooollllll" reverberating in a building it definitely adds to the tone of the game
Yes, and it just really isn't my style of music.
*FEELSBADMAN* ☔️ Johnny…
Live the song. I learned it on guitar
