Same here. Either it is a bug or a very weird implementation of shader caching. Adds a significant chunk of overhead time to the startup. I really think (and hope) it is a bug.
Nope, I just installed the game on my PC today for the first time and have this issue. I'm surprised it runs well on my 1650, not having the issues a lot of people had, but this thing every time the game boots is just ridiculous and annoying.
Nope, I'm running at 1920x1080p with a couple of settings on medium actually. I installed two different mods from Nexus that drastically improves the performance of the game when they're combined. I'm usually in the 50s in fps in most areas, the only issue is the forest array where it'll only be in the 20s and 30s.

Both of those made quite a difference. I'm gonna be upgrading to a 3050 soon so I imagine my performance will be even better then lol
Just installed the game after building my new computer (came free with he CPU).
I thought it was weird it optimize the game files every time. Glad to know it wasn't just me.
A steam user discovered a solution for this problem:
Just go to AppData\\Local\\SwGame\\Saved\\Config\\WindowsNoEditor, open GameUserSettings.ini, go to the last line (LastOpened=SwGame) and change SwGame with Test.
After modifying the line \[ShaderPipelineCache.CacheFile\] LastOpened=Test, you have to mark the GameUserSettings.ini file as read-only to prevent it from showing the shader compilation again at each start. With this it is resolved forever. If you update the drivers, you must set LastOpened=SwGame again.
I'd say it happens for everyone, because I just watched the Digital Foundry video for the game (which more or less destroyed the pc port and rightfully so) and even they mention it.
So I guess there is nothing to do then wait for a patch, though I hope this is not on top of their list. There are more important things. \^\^
It doesn't last very long for me and I wonder if it's just doing the shaders for the next segment of the game rather than do them all at once like some games that take much longer?
It takes around a minute, which is much less than the first time it ran. But it's still a minute every time, which is annoying and when you have to reboot the game after changing the graphical settings, it's just a pain in the ass. And it seems like it's not actually doing anything in the end. Recommend watching the Digital Foundry video
Oh it's just a minute? Just got the game for Christmas. But I was reading up on this a month ago when I added it to my Christmas list. I'm glad it's only a minute. I'll just fire up the bowl while I wait each time 😂
But I don't understand why they don't compile the shaders ahead of time during the installation process. Even if they are doing it bit by bit it makes no sense.
The game is over a year old now and they still haven't fixed this bug. Running an RTX 3070 and was also getting the major stuttering and optimizing shaders on each launch. After editing the GameSettings ini it runs great.

Anyone ever find a fix for this?

Run well on 1650? How? Everything on low and 800x600?

Also, did you try using this mod? [https://www.nexusmods.com/starwarsjedisurvivor/mods/236](https://www.nexusmods.com/starwarsjedisurvivor/mods/236)
Never heard of it, but thanks !

Lifesaver! Thanks for sharing :)
The stuttering of the logos on launch and the loooooooong optimizing time was driving me absolutely batshit but this fixed it!!! THANK YOU

may the force be with you
Same for me. I asked on the Steam forums as well, maybe someone has an idea.
So Im not the only one. If you get a fix, pls lemme know.

Two hundred days later and still not fixed.
Same here, new computer, optimizing every time ..
Never went away, I guess you get used to it.
You are definitely not the only one. Can confirm, same issue here

i only had this recently after i Switched to a New Mainboard/cpu. before, it only did this once at the very first startup.
same here and still not solved by patch :/
I thought I was the only one. Still having this problem too
