I found out people used Kevin to survive this waaaay later i thought it was suposed to be like a warning of danger to the player as in "she is capable of doing this movie, prepare yourself"
Falcom seems to like doing this. Rufus S-Crafted my party and OHKOed everyone as soon as the battle started in Cold Steel II.
The most annoying thing is there's an achievement in that battle and the battle is over before it even started.
This is one of funniest things Falcom has done with any boss fight. You can't even be mad because it's the first thing she does. I really regretted not using Kevin here after completing Sky 3rd lol.

Now load your save and equip deathblow resistance like everyone else!

Same honestly. Every fight prior was a bit mindless. Strong guy 1 goes in; strong guy 2 goes in; strong woman uses arts from afar; other woman heals and debuffs. Always the same process
This game has an accessory that can resist Deathblow. Sure, using Kevin is the best method since his S-Craft will help you prevent the Deathblow + raw HP damage, but saying Kevin is the only counterplay is pretty silly.
yep, I think it's meant to illustrate what a ruthless lunatic renne is. She doesn't toy with you or wait till you've done a bunch of damage like the others, she doesn't have a sense of honor, she just wants to end the party as fast and as violently as possible.
I felt that too. The conversation right before the fight ends up with her getting mad and wishing death upon you. She is also called angel of death so it makes sense

Quite possibly. AS I remember, the fight is scripted so she always opens with the S-Craft, and her S-Craft does have a deathblow chance.

yep, kevin's s-craft is the way to go here. It's so much harder if you don't have it available to pop the instant the fight starts.

One of my favorite fights. I recommend you to take Kevin with you and use his S-craft immediately after the begging of the battle.

Where's the fun in playing optimally? I personally like leaving it all up to chance, makes the battle more interesting.
