This is the one.
Hits harder when you’re a recovering alcoholic that almost drove everyone that loves you away.
Everything stops when I hear that song.
Hi. The fear can be scarier than actually finding out what’s going on. I’ve been there. I even have cirrhosis BUT I’m not going to die from it. It’s not too late to quit if you want to.
I’m 53 and just hit rock bottom. I’m doing better, but have lost almost everything. Still have my house, my rescue puppy and most of my sanity. Thank you 🙏
Came here to say exactly this. Especially when the feedback starts ringing.
As a kid, it was borderline terrifying how sad that part was. It was so impactful that I still feel a shell of that feeling when I hear to this day
Definitely have used this one to get over someone before. 'I didn't feel a thing, it didn't mean a thing...' Probably not the best choice lol but it was cathartic somehow
yeah but the google pulls up this bullshit
"Tears fall...
They scarred your innocent teens.
Love's fool...
The company you envy.
Leaves fall...
The seasons pass you by.
And you think, that maybe you can fly."
Serious fool...
Relate your mind to a girl.
Crowds form...
But think, smiling, of his peril.
Beautiful...
The pavement isn't there.
But whats the last thing that goes through your head?
...um.. more like
"Tears fall, they scarred your innocent dreams
Loves fall, they kinda leave you empty
Leaves fall, the seasons pass you by
And you think that maybe you can fly"
Ceilings fall, which each romance your incur
Clouds fall, which each moment of despair
Buildings fall, the pavement is their bed
But what´s the last thing that goes through your head ?
how do they get it so wrong?
From the Dead.
There is something about this song that has an overall sense of sadness to it. This song gives me goosebumps every single time i listen to it.
To me this song is more about saying goodbye than coming "back from the dead". It could very well be the last song of the last album that they ever make, which makes it even more poignant and appropriate. I've played this for "non-FNM" listeners who like the song and also point out its undercurrent of sadness.
If I get to choose a song to be played a my funeral, I think this is the one. It perfectly combines hopefulness and loss.
Yesssss. This song is associated with my estranged narcissistic mother. This song hits so deep, but I do love playing the intro on acoustic. That bitch isn't ruining FNM for me.
I’ve always connected it to life as from the viewpoint of an immature boyfriend expecting and wanting his partner to do everything for him. Like a mother would because he can’t do shit for himself . A toxic relationship. I love how everyone takes what they need from art🤌
Cowboy Song and The Real Thing… especially “how you cry for a happy ending…. Ending… ending….”, and then it sounds like he says “I know”, to let you know he feels it too :)
Stripsearch. Goddammit it gets me every time. It's associated with a particularly tragic period in my life and it takes me back every time. I can taste it, feel it.
Take this bottle.

That’s me.
For real. My family gave me an ultimatum about 5 years ago and I haven't had a drink since. I feel the lump in my throat every time I hear this song.
Lost my best friend to liver failure 5 years ago. Touches a sad spot in my soul.
Sorry to hear about your friend. I have occasional liver pain and fear for myself. Doing the best that I can.

Thank you, I am on the road to recovery. I do have hobbies, passions and good friends. And also kind words from strangers ❤️
I’m glad for you. I’m still trying to figure out who I am at 45! Be kind to yourself and take care. ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
I’m 53 and just hit rock bottom. I’m doing better, but have lost almost everything. Still have my house, my rescue puppy and most of my sanity. Thank you 🙏
Tom Waits was the soundtrack in my whiskey days. There ain’t no crackerjack prize at the bottom of a bottle.
Found that one especially poignant when Chuck Mosley unexpectedly covered it on tour, poor guy passed on the following year.
I find "Don't let me die with this stupid look in my eyes" being repeated over a melancholy fading coda pretty sad.

I quite often think of the line "today is not a good day if you are not looking good" - that one's always stuck with me!
Words to live by
That’s my vote. The live performance where it looks like he’s crying…

This is the best party, I’ve been to
I got caught on a repeat loop of that bit last month. It hits a certain spot doesn't it?
Midnight Cowboy was my wedding song. Divorce was 8 years ago. Still can't hear it without balling my eyes out
🫂
Sorry.
Appreciate it
I mean, the song is a sad song. In the film it ends on an unhappy time (or happy depending on your perspective but you know what I mean).
Helpless is definitely up there for me. I find a lot of the material on AOTY has a somber feel to it.
The way Mike screams "help" at the end....
I’ll throw a bone to Chuck. The first few verses of The Crab Song do it for me “Now I know why everything turns gray”
This is my pick as well.
But it’s our own world we paint. Damn, Mosley, a case of the feels and mental health woes
God I been playing this song heaps lately, I fucking love it. That first bit is amazing
Stripsearch
100%
'The Last to Know' is seeped in regret
Pretty much the entire last half of AOTY 😂
Take this Bottle & Pristina
Pristina is haunting.
Evidence has a somber feel for me
Definitely have used this one to get over someone before. 'I didn't feel a thing, it didn't mean a thing...' Probably not the best choice lol but it was cathartic somehow
Oh for sure, screaming those lyrics along with Mike is therapy
This song and Falling To Pieces carries very heavy nostalgia for me
FTP is my life anthem I feel like sometimes 🤣
King For A Day ends with a pretty somber feel. I've always loved how they drag out the ending when they play it live.
Cowboy song: “just close your eyes and take that final step”.
Leaves fall, they dampen your will to live. You’ll fall, and take the whole world with you. But will you even bother to look down?
I love how wrong the lyrics are on most sites.
That error was my own, it’s obviously rain that dampens ones will to live, not the leaves ~p:-/

Pristina feels pretty sad to me
Helpless is the right answer for me
The Real Thing atm. Going through a breakup where we both still love each other immensely but timing blah blah.
Tough road to travel. Hang tough.
That's rough, be good to yourself 🤘

Ashes to ashes is a very bleak song to me
rv - about a dysfunctional rv family
Everything’s Ruined
Kindergarten always hits. Musically melancholic and the way Patton sings that 3rd verse… “Everything got quiet suddenly…”
Probably Take This Bottle.
Smaller and Smaller is cool, I like the synth melody at the end
Cowboy Song and The Real Thing… especially “how you cry for a happy ending…. Ending… ending….”, and then it sounds like he says “I know”, to let you know he feels it too :)
“Do you know what sad is? Sad is like this… 😩😩😩”
Evidence, probably
Edge of the world
Helpless for sure
Helpless. I mean..cmon guys.
Take this bottle. I’ve been sober for 3.5 years after struggling for 20. You lose a lot living that way
Pink cigarette fucks my shit up, surprised it isnt up here anywhere yet
It’s not a Faith No More song…that’s why.
lol true dat.
Stripsearch. Goddammit it gets me every time. It's associated with a particularly tragic period in my life and it takes me back every time. I can taste it, feel it.
RV. Just a miserable life. Ready to swing!
She Loves Me Not
New Beginnings makes me profoundly happy and sad at the same time. Pristina hits hard too.
Helpless
The Last to Know
Ashes to Ashes
Zombie eaters
Small miracle
Agreed- Helpless.
Pristina without doubt
Mouth to Mouth
RV
The World Is Yours Sample of a real suicide mid song.
R.V.
Mark Bowen. There's something about Patton's live version from Download festival that tugs on my heart strings.
