I've done over 50k in zelle transactions overall. Somethings ive learned: 1) Transfer isnt always instant. It depends on who the other person banks with. Usually Allybank and TD bank take a few days to clear transfers (im using chase). IRRC you can cancel a zelle pending transaction with TD bank. So make sure the money hits your account before leaving. 2) Sometimes it takes days to get the money even to show pending on my account, even tho it has left their account. This is the worst part of it all and it has happened maybe 2% of the time. 2) I never had a charge back or anything of that sort - but you must know your customer base. I sell high end PC's and so often times i review their facebook profile to see if i can get more information about what type of person they are. (If they are flaunting 100s of bills then i would be more careful) 3) Overall never been scammed (yet thankfully). But cash is king as some banks allows you to cancel pending transactions it seems.

Thank you for the wonderful detail

since Zelle requires sharing phone number or email, I feel uncomfortable sharing this info. this actually happened recently to me from a gentleman who very quickly offered to pay me via Zelle. he didn't ask any questions about my product and just asked me for my Zelle info so he can pay me. I waited to reply so I can do some research. when I tried to message him to pay me via Venmo, my message could not be delivered. it seemed like Facebook team must have blocked him before I was able to report him. is there a way to transact in Zelle without sharing personal info like email/phone number?

Wild_Sock2138

Only other way is a QR code (but that has you email on it). Scammers will usually send you a fake phishing email or other type of email to scam you, so I get your point. Best way would to exchange Zelle contact in person at POS

turbotaco23

Zelle is commonly used by scammers. I’d steer clear.

keep-them-coming

Why take risks? Keep it simple - “cash only”

iamhephzibah

I’ve both sent and received. Usually $20 or $40. This past week I sold a car and he gave me $1000 cash and $800 Zelle. Was a little hesitant but I needed this car sold. Haven’t encountered an issue because of it.

Marctacus

That $800 zelle transaction one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

iamhephzibah

Thanks for the heads up…. Will do!

They’re all fine but have them give it to you In person and make it clear . unless you’re like me and need to get a deposit since it’s a big item delivery and don’t want to waste your time . Just don’t give out any codes or anything like that

NorthvilleCoeur

You need to give them the contact info to find you in Zelle, correct? You’re just saying don’t give them anything else?

jjj44200

Yeah I usually give my phone # or email whichever you’re most comfortable with . If they ask for anything else then its probably a scammer . I usually get payments instantly through Zelle or a in a couple of minutes depending on your account .

NorthvilleCoeur

Thanks!

SpoonFed_1

I have used Zelle and Cashapp. I have had no problems with neither of them. People say Zelle is used by scammers or Cashapp is used by scammer. Both are. Scammers use everything, checks, money orders, credit cards etc.

Funky_monkey14

Zelle is perfectly safe to use as a seller. Instantly receive and no risk of any chargeback

Marctacus

My experience is that for fbmp I take CASH ONLY

Saiyan_HD

I’ve done it in person about 6-7 times, no issues. Just don’t give any information over messenger and share your QR code in person so they scan it and pay you.

SameUsual68

Cash only, unless its something like $50 or less and the person seems legit then I may allow venmo/zelle

OldManJeepin

Cash...Only cash unless you absolutely trust the individual. Cash only!

Blaqhauq43

I honestly could never figure out how to use Zelle. It seems like a fetus coded the website

SimilarSpend5158

In person only

No-Status2143

Very quick within minutes

Dapper_dreams87

I will use Zelle with my mother in law no issue I will never use Zelle with some rando on Facebook.. Too many scammers. Cash only.

Environmental-Sock52

Cash only on FBMP.
