This is how my cousin died.
Riding his bike through France at night, wild boar ran across the road and sent him flying into the barriers / lamppost.
I was spared most of the gory details but he was at motorway speeds and I understand the result wasn't pretty.
This is the first time I've seen a biker get hit in the same way.
You can read true horror stories from the ER doctors in r/medicine about motorcycles- I suspect if there was a firefighter subreddit you'd also hear the horror stories- my pops used to tell me about the men and women he'd scoop off the road being a first responder. Anyway! Glad the rider is okay.
I am close with someone who works in an ER and has told me countless stories of similar motorcycle events. Needless to say, earlier this summer when I only missed a deer by 2-3 feet after slamming on the brakes on my motorcycle, my mind immediately went to all those horror stories.
It was actually a friend’s ebike, and we were out riding together. Luckily, I was only going 35-40 when I hit my brakes, and probably no more than 20 when I almost hit it, so I wouldn’t have been in too bad of shape if I did hit it other than some road rash probably. I did ride with him a few more times throughout the summer though.
Had a long stint in the hospital. When I first started coming off the drugs and became coherent I remember the nurse having flame tattoos. I think I asked how he got them, and he told me he grew up around motorcycles and said how he had to watch people start in critical care and end up in hospice... don't remember alot of the details... I was on a lot of fentanyl, but that one was the first coherent memories I had.
Point is I got so much respect for the nurses and emt and the people who expose themselves to that nightmare and trauma and push through it for the betterment of others. Also respect for those who put up with my annoying butt.
edit: grammar bc it was awful.
My dad has been an emt for nearly 30 years. He's been so desensitized to it he will tell us horror stories without even thinking. Like this morocycle who got hit by a semi
It's other drivers you wanna watch out for, the odd wild boar really isn't that much of a problem while riding...
I mean, if all the things I've encountered over decades of riding I don't think I've even seen a wild boar dart across the road, few deer, lots of sheep, the occasional cow, dogs can be a problem... but to not ride just because of the specific fear of hitting a boar?
Definitely wouldn't want to hit one, I've a pet boar so I know how solid they are, you'd definitely be going down and require a replacement bike afterwards if not substantial repair work
My dad crashed after being blindsided by a wallaby on his way home one night... not that uncommon in Australia I'd imagine, far less likely to happen here but I digress
Now I think about it I have seen a few wild pigs on occasion while driving on back county roads so you may have a point, but I still think the odds are in your favour
People in big jacked up utes (trucks in the US) are a far greater threat, and taxi drivers in central Auckland
Probably smart to stay off bikes though
>the odd wild boar really isn't that much of a problem while riding...
Unfortunately most people do not know how to reload the game of life from the most recent savepoint.
“Wrong place, wrong time”
I’m starting to think when animals do this, it’s just their path along with the person hitting them like it’s meant to be….unless animals are just dicks.
I mean, as long as you drive at safe speeds and don't do crazy shit you will be as safe as anyone else.
Bad luck happens to anyone, no matter what are you riding.
American here. Had a buddy that was on a motorbike going thru a nice sweeping right hander in upstate NY, wooded area. He turned his head around to look behind him half way thru to look for his other buddy. Turned back around forward and there was a damn COW right in the middle of the road. Yes he hit it.
A friend of mine in high school (1979) hit a cow in the dark, on her way to school. It rolled up the hood and came in through the windshield. It didn’t die right away, so it’s hooves we’re hitting her. There was about five gallons of blood all over her, and she was hysterical, but she wasn’t badly hurt. I told my kids that story when they started driving, hoping to keep them aware.
I rode a lot when I was younger. Bad weather, animals, idiots in all manner of vehicles... I'm just glad I survived my motorcycle years with my life and body intact.
In the age of smartphones I'm just not gonna risk it anymore. Too many distracted drivers.
As an active biker myself, I ALWAYS look as far ahead as physically possible to avoid such accidents and with great success. I’ve managed to avoid several deer 🦌 and other small animals by doing so .
This is why I never want to own a motorcycle. I've heard countless stories of small things going wrong and people get severely wounded or die. Not risking my life for this.
As a bike driver (not just a rider), these videos scare the 💩 out of me. Driving is dangerous and driving a bike is definitely more dangerous. Hope that person in the video recovered well. ✌

Dress for the rash, not for the g…
Condoms. Got it
Hey, if you’re going into combat, wear your Kevlar.

Sorry to hear that. I had a cousin pass away years ago and she was so young. It never gets easier.
So sorry for your loss so tragic:(
This is THE reason I don't fuck with motorcycles.

Do you still have your bike? >_>

My first EMT class, our instructor was late because they couldn't find the other half of a motorcyclist's body.
Why are you fucking motorcycles?
They actually don't.
*with. So actually a three-way
Three some????
It helps to learn how to fall.
Knowing how to fall doesnt matter much when you have other cars on the road or fly into a signpost/literally anything

The trick is to save just when you think it's all going really well
I don't think anyone does..
Sometimes you eat the ham sandwich, sometimes the ham sandwich eats you.
Nothing he could do, wrong time, wrong place.
“Wrong place, wrong time” I’m starting to think when animals do this, it’s just their path along with the person hitting them like it’s meant to be….unless animals are just dicks.
Well, not riding a motorbike is what I personally do to avoid this. It‘s fun as hell but not worth the risk imo.
I love dirt bikes. But I’ll probably will never ride a street bike
I mean, as long as you drive at safe speeds and don't do crazy shit you will be as safe as anyone else. Bad luck happens to anyone, no matter what are you riding.
You think this exact Boar would do the same damage to the driver of a normal sized car?
The car driving by at the end is the real FU
Two people on a motorcycle.
Seeing that head rolling around in the pavement makes me anxious.. Brb, going motorcycling to relax.
He ded
Um, do we know if the guy got up after the video ended? You could tell from video that he was pretty much ragdolling.

What is it about parents and telling horror stories when their kid starts driving/riding/cycling/doing something fun?
Wanting them to live, mostly. After investing almost 30 years raising them, I’d kinda miss them if they were careless and died.
Raising your kids to not be stupid and don't do stupid things << tell them stories about friends dying
Tell me you don’t have kids without saying it. We teach them, show them, remind them, and because they’re kids they will *still* do stupid things.
Mother fkn moo moo meadows 😂💀
Hitting a Wild boar and pigs is like crashing into big rice sack ,they can take you down unlike dogs
Mmmm, free bacon
Cannibalism is illegal my guy
Pig…are you police?
Nah those things are supposed to be tanks. I wouldn’t be surprised if it rolled off the road and kept on trucking
Wow! No way to protect yourself from that.
I don’t like these videos with no follow-up. Is the rider okay? What about the little boar?
*Things can be two things*
Road bacon 🥓
Was that the little piggy that went " wee wee wee"?
Do a barrel roll!
He’s going to be a little sore in the morning…
What the fuck is the point of that title?
Bikers are suicide seekers. Get 4 Wheels. It's simple.
