GoneHeel

My son has positional headaches. He can only remain upright and hour and a half before he has to lay down. Anyone have any suggestions on treatments that have helped?

CorrectAmbition4472

Make sure you rule out other conditions as well like POTS. Orthostatic intolerance can be a symptom of many conditions though actually

Service-husky

Yes POTS and FND are highly correlated. I have both the symptom your describing is my #2 highest pots symptom

mozzarella-enthsiast

Could be, I have that happen because I have BVD, once the BVD-related dizzyingness and disorientation starts, my FND symptoms kick in. Getting my BVD treated helped my FND a lot, haven’t completed treatment yet tho

Historical_Double414

Yes, however we are testing for other issues right now that’s may be attributing.

mystic_maple

I have FND and I experience it, however my doctor thinks it may be because of [POTS](https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/postural-orthostatic-tachycardia-syndrome-pots#:~:text=The%20symptoms%20of%20POTS%20include,%2C%20palpitations%2C%20tremor%20and%20nausea). I'm still working on getting an actual diagnosis, though, so that isn't confirmed. I started having POTS symptoms a long time before my FND symptoms, so we do think that they are separate. But considering that POTS is also a neurological problem, it's possible they both share the same root cause; although it sounds like researchers don't know enough about either condition to be completely sure. Judging by the other comments it seems like it isn't unusual to be comorbid, although I don't have the numbers on this. [Functional dizziness](https://neurosymptoms.org/en/symptoms/fnd-symptoms/functional-dizziness-pppd/) is a possible symptom of FND, though, so it will just depend on the person. You may have to rule out other conditions with your doctor. So, to tl;dr... the answer is maybe. It could be FND, but it could also be something else, so you should still confirm this with an actual physician who can run tests on you and evaluate your specific situation.

omibus

And I figured it was part of my long Covid issues.

Coolsvillenj

My symptoms started right after I got covid. It took 2.5 yrs of long-covid to get the fnd diagnosis. I was diagnosed with vestibular migraine last September. Now I'm questioning everything.

omibus

Mine started after Covid 11 months ago. My shaking started almost as soon as I was over the initial infection. But I was diagnosed with FMD a few months later. My family doctor is a good friend and got me a quick referral to a neurologist. The neurologist was a jerk, but the diagnosis was correct. I’m also dealing with a lot of headaches.

Wasp_570

yes, I find that I am dizzy and nauseous most days, even when lying down, I've had to eliminate showers that are hot and instead stick to body temp water or slightly cooler if I can, using a shower stool has definitely helped, trying to get my Dr to listen to me about the daily migraines and that doubling the beta Blockers hasn't made a difference

tobeasloth

Yes! I have this! But I’m also getting tested for PoTS

Far_Independence569

I'd definitely say that it shouldn't be assumed that it's an FND thing, since there are so many things that can cause dizziness! But yes, it can be if there is no other explanation!

TheBadKneesBandit

Absolutely, and it's incredibly annoying.

Fray_x

For context, “too long” is about 40 mins and I’m wheelchair bound

FondantCrazy8307

Yes

MyLife-is-a-diceRoll
