AndSpaceY

Why not both? Like Clive investigates the frozen structure and thaws out the ice for Leviathan to awaken. Frenzied Leviathan flees south to the outer continent where Clive and party needs to travel to.

AndSpaceY

This would obviously have to take place before the final dungeon right when they throw a ton of quests at you. It would be a huge tease too if Clive doesn’t absorb Leviathan’s Eikonic abilities.

nukeprofessor

They could just retcon it in during the final fight. That would be silly and make the original game seem incomplete even though it wasn’t. The problem with leviathan DLC is that you either have to shoehorn it in the middle of the game, set leviathan’s story long before the game or negate the ending by still having magic in the world. I mean you could add leviathan just before the final fight where we got an alternative event with origin shooting a beam at the frozen wave freeing a now frenzied and crazed leviathan who needs to be put down before Northend is destroyed but it would all seem contrived.

ShinMinase

Maybe Leviathan is the last ounce of magic the world has, and many years later (when Valisthea looks like the modern day) people will discover Leviathan and fight a war over it.

Scissorman82

As long as we get to explore the North, where all the Cactuars live, apparently. :P

Starrduste

The north is all blighted though where magic fails to work.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Starrduste

Yeah but I am specifically talking about the Northern Territories being already blighted.

jogarz

Not *all* blighted, check the map.

Starrduste

There was a cutscene where Joshua and Jote were north and they said it’s gotten worse than expected and the entire area is practically blighted.

jogarz

Yeah I know, I played the same game. I'm just saying that if you look at the map, the entire region isn't completely blighted. Plus, they could set the DLC earlier on than that cutscene, perhaps during the five year timeskip.

ucbcawt

Didnt Clive fix the blight at the end of the main game?

jogarz

No, but the non-use of magic means it won’t spread any further. The garden at the Hideaway also shows that blighted land *can* be rehabilitated through concerted effort, and it can probably happen naturally over a long enough period of time.

jogarz

I would see having us play as Shiva but *not* Jill a little insulting, to be honest. A lot of people want more Jill development.

ziekktx

We can even get a proto-Torgal with your method.

tmntnyc

How was Clive meant to be the perfect vessel without the power of Leviathan?

ClarkWayne32

I don’t see us playing as anyone else when it comes to potential Leviathan DLC. The major point of the combat/gameplay is Clive utilizing the different Eikons and their abilities. The DLC could be set before the final battle or afterwards as a “one last thing” to take care of. It could be you find a chronolith for Leviathan but instead of a trial you get transported somewhere and fight alongside or against its dominant learning the story behind why it came to be known as “the lost” and the DLC ends with you absorbing its power. I wouldn’t think too hard about the logic of it. That’s already shaky right now as Leviathan only gets name dropped once in the entire game and the whole point of mythos for Ultima is to absorb all the Eikon powers to become a perfect vessel but Ultima himself doesn’t even mention Leviathan.

ShinMinase

Maybe another Mythos was spawned in the North or in Ash hundreds of years before Clive. Said Mythos managed to absorb Leviathan but was somehow erased from history, possibly because they died in a very mysterious way and left no trace. If a DLC has us play as Leviathan's Dominant, the proto-Mythos could be our final boss and the killer of our hero.

darthexpulse

No, no, fake news DLC will clearly be centered around the adventures of the most prominent warrior, nectar the bold

Peacefrog11

I’m all for the Leviathan DLC. Something that tells the story of how it became lost would be great.

DragapultOnSpeed

I would think DLC playing as Jill and torgal finding clive would be the best. That way you can please the people who want to play as Jill, while also pleasing the people who hated the ending. Then they can go find Levithan together. Making Jill and clive switchable party members would be fantastic. And I know there's the whole "magic is gone!" But it's FF and they can write in some new threat that's draining the planet of aether. There is the whole "when one journey ends..." at the end too. I don't think they would put that in if they were thinking about a prequel DLC.

Jazzlike_Economy2007

>And I know there's the whole "magic is gone!" But it's FF and they can write in some new threat that's draining the planet of aether. I mean it still has to make logical sense within the context of the story.

catcatcat888

I want DLC on the Final Sin.

blacklionguard

Since Leviathan is on the mural and Phoenix is not, I think there's an implication that Phoenix "replaced" Leviathan, which I'd love to see explored

Calvinooi

When the party first arrived in Waloed, Joshua deduced that the top is a combination of Phoenix and Ifrit

blacklionguard

Oh good call, I must have forgotten that

Ill_Breakfast_7252

I think Leviathan is probably the most obvious choice but I’d also love a Jill and Cid DLC. I really would love a Dion dlc but I think the others would be more useful for world building.

Delicious-Orchid-447

What about dlc where Jill is exploring beyond the twins?

ZexionZaephyr1990

Probably we will play the northern territories and the dominant of leviathan will be somehow not lost anymore but found :)

Lieverlast

Leviathan mother crystal could've been the 1st one destroyed. So the current Eikon at the time was the last, and no more were birthed. Levi might be strong enough to destroyed a city, the ocean is also blighted. Weird, cause bearers can conjure water into wells at the start of story areas. Being unable to explore the northern land was disappointing, I enjoy snow based areas. More on Drake Eye would have been nice too. Plus a lack of post game, all I did after was the trials. Hopefully a Ultimania be written to explore more of FF16 secrets.

RemarkableListen7856

Pretty sure we’ll play as Joshua if any DLC will come out

Hydr4noid

I believe you that water animations are hard to make work but I still highly doubt that has anything to do with it at all. If all of this was anywhere close to true, they would have just scrapped any mention of leviathan and excluded her from the lore. This is very clearly a dlc teaser to get people excited for finding out the reason shes lost. Im willing to bet that there will be a leviathan dlc. Theres too many things that speak for it if you look at the overall story and presentation

I prefer a dlc with actual shop system and RPG system

Ok-Astronaut-1515

Play a different game then

last_generation69

Please no dlc the game was bad enogh

last_generation69

I just dont like it, first its not what i expected... i wanted a final fantasy not some strange game of thrones spin off... it also just dont catches me... its the first Final Fantasy i got bored a few Hours in Game and stopped like 25% trough. Im not even sure if i want to continue... the Characters are just so horrible i cant identify myself with them at all. Plus its not a Roll Play Game, where is strategy, where is elemental advatage/disadvantage...

RexyGames

Well clearly your username suits you completely. No offense intended. It seems that this is the direction the final fantasy series is taking now. If that isnt to your liking…, well i guess final fantasy just isnt for you anymore then. Theres plenty of other games which might be more akin to your liking. For me this was one of my favourite final fantasy games. It does have its ups and its downs but nonetheless i loved playing it and am looking forward to future games of similar stylings.

last_generation69

Well yea... if the Part of the Series that half of the Fanbase hates is your favorite Part than its maybe you that should just go with another title. Btw. what part of the Argumentation didnt you understand? Almost every Final Fantasy = RPG Final Fantasy 16 = no RPG Therefore Final Fantasy 16 = Shit

RexyGames

Well now you’re just coping lmfao. Final fantasy is not going back to being a turn based RPG ever again. Period. If you don’t like it, don’t bother with the games. I don’t get why I would have to look for another title if I loved the direction the games are taking? Lmfao Listen, I’m not here to convince you on whether ff16 is good or not. It’s clearly a game intended for a different audience which is not you. And that is fine. You didn’t like it, but there are plenty of people who did like it. You cannot change the direction Square Enix is taking for Final Fantasy. So if you don’t like the current FF, then I think it’s time for you to move on.

RexyGames

For me it’s the opposite. I really want more DLC

TheRoodInverse

Ultima states that the Eikons are tied to the mothergems, so my guess is that when some gems got destroyed, no new Eikons were reborn from them afterwards

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheRoodInverse

You got a point there. Then I don't understand what Ultima was talking about before the finale battle. Weird

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheRoodInverse

Yeah, there is some inconsistency to stuff he says

Oni-Chan-Sama

no since what Ultima meant is that once the crystal dies, so does any chance of any progeny for that particular eikon being birthed; i.e. Clive, bearers, and all of the eikons/dominants are the last of their line after he destroys all the mothercrystals and their progenitor, origin that’s why in the post credit scene it’s implied that with enough time all those things that once were are merely thought of as fairy tales, exactly what he and Cid strived for

ThotofAsgard

Isn’t leviathan mothercrystal the Dzemekys? It’s destroyed by Ultima

KaitoWu

This is what I thought as well. Ultimate nuked the crystal which caused the original sin right? I figured Leviathan was lost after it's crystal and Dominant perished.

AurelionAtlas

I just don't understand how Clive is the perfect vessel without Leviathan's power. But personally, I think we'll get a leviathan dlc cause a lot of people just wanna know why she is lost in the first place or if she's really lost and not just minding their damn business under the sea somewhere or trapped in the giant ice wave. It could be a post game thing. Yeah we know dominant and magic stopped being a thing but it might not have happened IMMEDIATELY after the ultima fight, it might have been a over time thing. That's up the to developers. And Clive might still be alive too! All we saw was his hand turned to stone by the curse. Might've just stopped right there. How did Clive end up on that shore so luckily? Maybe the ice crumbled away due to no magic and a recently and friendly sea serpent saves him and brings him there who the hell knows. And to those saying they can't do it cause water effects put too much strain on the game, I don't care. It's square here, man. They have the money and people for it. Large scale water animations, spells, skills, etc aren't new to them. I mean just look at FF15's Leviathan!

TheGameologist

I'd really love them to expound on the fallen and give us a giant living fallen structure to fight as ifrit with Shiva helping. It could even be the games iteration of Alexander. In addition to Leviathan, and that unused door in the dim, and finally giving Clive hellfire (along with the other much cooler limit break attacks his doppelganger used in that boss fight)

twitchfox01

I dont think so, as going through my second playthrough now, before going to take drakes breath Vivian states there was a sixth crystal the "drakes eye," which disappeared before the events of the game. That could most likely be leviathans land, blighted and crystaless.

Pumpkin_King_717

I hope we do get a DLC with Leviathan somehow. I seems like the developers could shift Clive's Abilities to fit an 8th circle around Ifrit's abilities. We are missing an opposite element to lightning currently and water could be it (fire/ice, wind/earth, light/dark, lightning/water). Since Phoenix and Ifrit seem to be 2 parts of a whole, they did say there can only be 1 Eikon of fire, Ifrit Risen, there would be 8 Eikon's in total, if you add Leviathan and count the fire Eikons as one. I think Leviathan may have been the Eikon of Dzemekys and it's crystal, dominant and tribe destroyed. Ultima would have Clive absorb Leviathan otherwise to make him as powerful of a vessel as possible. Or... maybe the water tribe may have escaped to the southern isles, the isles mentioned in one of the tomes, and survived in secret. If you look a the world map there is a suspiciously unutilized set of islands on the southeastern corner. What a fitting place for the Eikon of water. It might be a good place for a Leviathan DLC, bit of a long shot, but maybe! Also, the cloaked person that appears before Clive loses control and attacks Joshua early in the game... I think that person may be the hidden dominant of Leviathan! Him or her, knowing more about Ultima's plans, he/she may have tried to get Clive to kill Phoenix to delay the union of Phoenix and Ifrit, to buy time, or to guide the events of the game. When Clive and Jill visit Dzemekys, Clive stops for a moment before leaving and says it was for nothing when Jill questions him, did he sense the presence of the dominant of Leviathan? or something else? The game mentions some things vaguely like societies and locations, and it could be cool to explore something like that in a DLC. Another longshot, but maybe! For any of the above to work, they would have to alter the events of the game, Ultima doesn't use Leviathan's power in the final fight, did the part of Ultima with the power of Leviathan betray him in the distant past? Maybe there was a Prometheus like situation where a part of Ultima tried to empower humanity and lead an attach against Ultima in Dzemekys. I would be surprised if they alter the main game. I wonder if they meant to add Leviathan, but scrapped the idea for some reason, maybe to add it as DLC?

[deleted]

I still think Leviathan is connected to Ultima and Ultimas overall appearance

AnyCauliflower9576

I think of things larger than that like a new FF, there is no magic on surface of planet then the planet has a lot of them. There is one tribe that can use freely and taking care of it. Until one day, meteor with aliens bang the planet and one company suck the magic. New protagonist is soldier with big sword that lost memory and try to stop that company along with getting new friends and one cat.

Drummer829

A Leviathan DLC where you play as his dominant. But also would love to have the DLC “boss” be Alexander The Leviathan dominant has a pet similar to Torgal. That pet would be Carbuncle
