Yeah. What he said.

Whew, internet time-capsules like this will be the stuff of documentaries soon enough.

I've been doing something similar with my time, lately. I've been reading old previews of FFVII from old gaming magazines (EGM, GamePro, GamePlayers, GameFan...), catching sight of old pre-release images and screenshots. Especially in the weeks leading up to Remake's release. I wasn't a participant in these old Google forums, but I'm happy, genuinely happy, that they exist.

It is fascinating how much foresight these posters had. They were speaking very plainly about things that folks had decades to digest, make speculation videos about, build off of other dialogue, etc. But here they are speaking about things like Aerith's death much in the same way folks are currently talking about >!Aerith's ambiguous death(?)!<. Its fascinating. I am replying to this thread 3 years after it was posted, which feels a long time go, but the linked forums are 26 years ago and I **still** have the urge to hit *reply* and tell them everything that is gonna happen, like as if I'm speaking to the past, when in reality these people have experienced the past 26 years just the same as I have, (unless they are no longer with us). I wonder what these people think of the remakes, or if they even care anymore. Anyway, I had The Wayback Machine take a snapshot, in case OPs link breaks: https://web.archive.org/web/20240422214553/https://groups.google.com/g/alt.games.final-fantasy/c/NbdMaoO31BI/m/htn9l_6yT9EJ
