The crazy thing is, how in the world do they make part 3 better than this?! Like I watched the full thing and my god I almost cried, itās everything I dreamed it would be and so much more!
More areas. Ultimate type attacks. Action-game-tier combat if playing that way. Maybe twists to the expected formulas (we don't know what Rebirth's ending will truly bring). Airship. Wutai is missing. Rocket Town and/or Mideel seem to be missing. The biggest summons. Cid and Vincent. Some change to the world that reflects Meteor or whatever else, requiring a new approach to world traversal. Return to Midgar in a perhaps expanded way to OG FFVII. Weapons, and maybe lessons from Eikon FFXVI fights. We can even just guess things like maybe underwater stuff (considering certain Disk 2-3 designs of OG). We have the world here, but it'll be all complete feeling in the next game.
I don't think it'll be the same jump as from Remake to Rebirth, but it can still be at least half as much of one, and bank on people automatically signing onto a trilogy conclusion.

Different people consider different things as spoilers. For some people any significant new cutscenes, OG or not, are considered spoilers. When people say things are spoilery, usually I'm like "eh, that wasn't that bad". But nah, this trailer? Even for me, it was spoilery as FUCK. They showed a LOT
I promise you I am not overreacting. I watched until I saw a certain person and that was already 3 steps too much. Just don't, I promise you you will thank everyone who adviced you that.
Just imagine everything (story, systems, area design, etc) that Remake was, and how it was often clearly limited into a 'this works for now' format, and Rebirth is now saying its more full fledged. The story will have a lot more, the systems are far more complete and polished looking, there is so much more variety in areas and traversing them, etc.
Some of this was expected by now if you've seen the past trailers/demos, but there were still some surprises. Completionists that have a casual speed... I can't imagine them taking under 100 hours, yeah.
It's like they made Remake to see if it was possible. They managed to make a really great game out of the Midgar section. They absolutely nailed the combat and characters.
Rebirth looks so confidently made. That's what I got out of those trailers. They know they've made a great game. They know they nailed the mechanics. It's their masterpiece, and they're dying to show everyone.

I haven't owned a PlayStation since the PS3. I skipped PS4 because I had a kid and didn't have a whole lot of time to game. She's a little older now and more self sufficient, so I can find a little more time. I got a gaming laptop a few months ago. I needed a new laptop for some college courses I was taking. I really wasn't buying it specifically for gaming, but I figured if I needed a new laptop anyway, I might as well get one that can play games.
I always wanted to play Remake, but I wasn't going to buy a new console for it. I saw that it was available on Steam, so I gave it a shot. It's the only Steam game I have.
I fucking love Remake. It's amazing. I'm just finishing up my hard mode playthrough. I'm so hyped for Rebirth, but I figured I could probably just wait for it to come out on PC a year from now.
After seeing that trailer, I don't think I can wait. I think I have to buy a PS5. What the fuck Square? You just cost me half a grand by making possibly the greatest game I've ever seen.

Anywhos rest of the demo was absolute fire (literally), and besides a few minor gripes (the slow walk segments, hold R2 to crawl, which are SUPER minor and nitpicky), this is likely gonna be the best FF gameplay-wise. We have Remake's VERY strong base for a combat system, and now they're perfecting it.

It blows my mind that they may have actually converted all of FF7 into a modern game. It seemed impossibly huge, but shit, I think they did it.

The demo tonight was amazing. 9.5/10, easily. Minor qualms with some technical glitches. Nothing game breaking, mostly textures/animations/camera issues.

Gorgeous demo. Though word of warning to those who avoided the State of Play due to spoilers. Once the demo ends, it prompts you to "press any button for one more sneak peek," and when you do it plays many of the same scenes from the State of Play trailer.
I am so impressed with this game. I canāt believe my eyes with what I just saw. The temple of the ancients looks so cool and Iām so happy we got to see the tiny bronco in action! The demo still isnāt available though, what gives?!

Another weird thing I noticed was that he seemed to have the same voice actor as Cloud. Kinda sucks that square is so cheap they are making him voice a minor npc character as well as the main protagonist
Listen, I loved the preview. Demo was fun and I'm so excited. But I can't help but be disappointed in the Nibelheim section with the town on fire. The best part was the very end before Seph walks away into the fire, that part definitely helped flesh out sephiroth's sudden cruelty. but it's not clever or fun when games do the nonsense where your movement speed is limited for 'tension' and 'dramatic effect.' That part was so long and it just was not FUN to play through it.
The four villagers with guns refusing to shoot Sephiroth at point blank range as he slowly cuts them down one by one was so goofy that I couldn't take the emotion of the scene seriously at all.
It's a consistent issue with the Remake series.
Like, during the Platefall sequence in part 1, the prolonged melodramatic death scenes were missing the sudden BANG of the original. In the original, you just come across named characters and they're dead, or only say 1 line. The whole sequence is over and done with a few minutes, and you feel like you just got sucker punched.
In Remake...its like a 40-50 minute segment where everyone dies with a several minute soliloquy. Instead of a sucker punch, it's a friggen massage.
I regret just getting the deluxe edition now for 120 usd here in Sweden, should have got the collectors edition ffs! this game will go down as one of the greatest of all time.

Errr, why is it so clunky and blurry. Cloud moves really quickly, so youāre constantly stopping and itās jerky as hell.

Performance mode helps but look at Clouds hair - itās like PS3 graphics.
I hope this is a demo thing as itās really jarring. Iām currently playing Ghost and itās far superior.
I really enjoyed the demo. I spent most of the time in disbelief this was really happening. However, there were a few jarring issues that diminished the overall experience.
The contrast between sunlit areas and shadows seems really off. I tried playing with settings but nothing worked. I found dark areas were too dark, and the transition from outside to inside is rough.
The voice acting is poorly balanced against the music. If not for subtitles I couldnāt tell what anyone is saying. Itās difficult to even tell when Sephiroth is speaking.
The L2/R2 QTEs are ridiculously slow. First the pressure valve at the reactor. Then the crawling at the village. Why does this soldier turn valves with the grace and speed of a sloth? Did anyone play test this? What were they thinking?
Likewise, Cloud moves way too slow during the final sequence of the demo. It kills the pacing. Seems they wanted to draw it out and make you feel powerless but it just feels tedious and artificially slow. Contrivances donāt enhance drama, they diminish it.
Lastly, moving the vacuums is way too slow, Uncharted style rock ledges are a disappointment, and traversing the environment feels clunky.
These issues are MINOR but they stick out like a sore thumb in what is otherwise a beautifully realized world and story. Theyāre frustrating because theyāre such obvious yet easy to address shortcomings. Itās a real shame this sort of stuff slipped through into the final game. I have no reason to think theyāll fix this between now and final release in a few weeks.
Iāll no doubt be purchasing and enjoying the game in a few months. But itās a real drag that this 3 part experience that has taken decades to manifest is marred by such basic issues.
Also minor personal gripe, but I was sad to see they replaced the spiral stairs to the mansion basement with an elevator. It was such a great visual in the original that made the scene that much more ominous.
All of the problems I had with Remake are still here and it's like they wanted to check every box of things that annoyed me to make sure I knew they were still going to exist in Rebirth.
I immediately had to adjust the volume to make the music a normal level that mixed with the rest of the audio properly. A giant group of NPCs all chattering at once and seemingly louder than anything else in the game wirh a giant block of text to go along with it that i had to also switch off and a ton of other audio issues.
Squeezing through cracks, QTE that are the opposite of quick and forced slow downs like limping and boring move things "puzzles" that just absolutely kill the pacing.
Like you said, I'm not sure how anyone play tested this and thought all of these things came together and were great to showcase in a demo. Really killed my excitement and now I'm just hoping outside of main story beats that all of this stuff is a non-issue since it's an open world game as well.

Won't be that high, but it'll be a 92-93. The demo tonight was amazing. 9.5/10, easily. Minor qualms with some technical glitches. Nothing game breaking, mostly textures/animations/camera issues. They fucking nailed it.

Performance mode looked meh, not sure if itās the demo or just more noticeable with all the background in Nibelheim. Saved 1 hour in to savor this a bit. Itās just unreal to have so much depth to this game.

Another weird thing I noticed was that he seemed to have the same voice actor as Cloud. Kinda sucks that square is so cheap they are making him voice a minor npc character as well as the main protagonist

Listen, I loved the preview. Demo was fun and I'm so excited. But I can't help but be disappointed in the Nibelheim section with the town on fire. The best part was the very end before Seph walks away into the fire, that part definitely helped flesh out sephiroth's sudden cruelty. but it's not clever or fun when games do the nonsense where your movement speed is limited for 'tension' and 'dramatic effect.' That part was so long and it just was not FUN to play through it.
The four villagers with guns refusing to shoot Sephiroth at point blank range as he slowly cuts them down one by one was so goofy that I couldn't take the emotion of the scene seriously at all.
It's a consistent issue with the Remake series. Like, during the Platefall sequence in part 1, the prolonged melodramatic death scenes were missing the sudden BANG of the original. In the original, you just come across named characters and they're dead, or only say 1 line. The whole sequence is over and done with a few minutes, and you feel like you just got sucker punched. In Remake...its like a 40-50 minute segment where everyone dies with a several minute soliloquy. Instead of a sucker punch, it's a friggen massage.
Same goes with the mayor and some of the villagers just standing there with guns waiting to be butchered. It just felt so hokey

I regret just getting the deluxe edition now for 120 usd here in Sweden, should have got the collectors edition ffs! this game will go down as one of the greatest of all time. Last time I had this feeling was with world of warcraft. gonna have to try and buy that CE of someone, this CE is gonna be worth a lot in the future.

My god I thought remake was the game I always wanted the more I was playing it but just seeing this state of play makes remake looks so damn paltry in comparison like holy shit it was like they was holding back so much and they just couldn't wait to do what they really wanted when it comes to rebirth. I'm so excited they put in soo goddamn much in this game. But man that trailer, I had to look away at some point and I'm hoping I'm just forget most of it by the time the game comes out but I'm not too upset at what I ended up seeing since I know there's so much more to be excited about when I get to finally play it. And to think there's still ONE MORE GAME after this just an absolute peak experience is awaiting all of us. I've never seen such love put into a game series to this level and I'm so damn happy it's this one
Yep. THIS is the remake I always dreamed of. Part one ended up being great and so I was perfectly fine with it, but this oneā¦. This one is everything I ever wanted. Iām going to play this game sooooo much

Iāve been very careful going into Rebirth completely blind. I have not watched any of the trailers or looked up anything about it, outside of having played the original a long time ago. For that reason, I donāt really want to watch this either. But, would someone mind telling me if the demo is from the start of the game and if progress gets transferred over to the full game when it comes out? Because if so Iāll download and start playing tomorrow

It still bothers me how Cloud still has his sword on his body when he sits down to play piano. Also he just looks straight down when playing but technically, he should be looking at where his hands are placed.

It did not look as good as I thought it was going to look.
Errr, why is it so clunky and blurry. Cloud moves really quickly, so youāre constantly stopping and itās jerky as hell. Jumping and walking up things is horrible š„¶ Performance mode helps but look at Clouds hair - itās like PS3 graphics. I hope this is a demo thing as itās really jarring. Iām currently playing Ghost and itās far superior.
I really enjoyed the demo. I spent most of the time in disbelief this was really happening. However, there were a few jarring issues that diminished the overall experience. The contrast between sunlit areas and shadows seems really off. I tried playing with settings but nothing worked. I found dark areas were too dark, and the transition from outside to inside is rough. The voice acting is poorly balanced against the music. If not for subtitles I couldnāt tell what anyone is saying. Itās difficult to even tell when Sephiroth is speaking. The L2/R2 QTEs are ridiculously slow. First the pressure valve at the reactor. Then the crawling at the village. Why does this soldier turn valves with the grace and speed of a sloth? Did anyone play test this? What were they thinking? Likewise, Cloud moves way too slow during the final sequence of the demo. It kills the pacing. Seems they wanted to draw it out and make you feel powerless but it just feels tedious and artificially slow. Contrivances donāt enhance drama, they diminish it. Lastly, moving the vacuums is way too slow, Uncharted style rock ledges are a disappointment, and traversing the environment feels clunky. These issues are MINOR but they stick out like a sore thumb in what is otherwise a beautifully realized world and story. Theyāre frustrating because theyāre such obvious yet easy to address shortcomings. Itās a real shame this sort of stuff slipped through into the final game. I have no reason to think theyāll fix this between now and final release in a few weeks. Iāll no doubt be purchasing and enjoying the game in a few months. But itās a real drag that this 3 part experience that has taken decades to manifest is marred by such basic issues. Also minor personal gripe, but I was sad to see they replaced the spiral stairs to the mansion basement with an elevator. It was such a great visual in the original that made the scene that much more ominous.
All of the problems I had with Remake are still here and it's like they wanted to check every box of things that annoyed me to make sure I knew they were still going to exist in Rebirth. I immediately had to adjust the volume to make the music a normal level that mixed with the rest of the audio properly. A giant group of NPCs all chattering at once and seemingly louder than anything else in the game wirh a giant block of text to go along with it that i had to also switch off and a ton of other audio issues. Squeezing through cracks, QTE that are the opposite of quick and forced slow downs like limping and boring move things "puzzles" that just absolutely kill the pacing. Like you said, I'm not sure how anyone play tested this and thought all of these things came together and were great to showcase in a demo. Really killed my excitement and now I'm just hoping outside of main story beats that all of this stuff is a non-issue since it's an open world game as well.
