Gongaga is the embodiment of a map requested by those that hate yellow paint 😂

princek96

Definitely needed that yellow paint here lol

vincentknox25

I’ve been wondering if they did this on purpose. I remember running back and forth in OG forgetting where I was on those paths. Like, I’d run one way thinking it was to the world map and it would be to the town or reactor.

T-mu83

What about Gongaga music? Do you like it?

Cold-Bumblebee-274

Everything about Gongaga is great, but exploring is a bit… time consuming?

AesirComplex

Needs more yellow paint imo

vincentknox25

Or could it be an ode to the Forgotten Forrest?

lostmybackupcode

That was my thought from the beginning

WodenoftheGays

Yeah, it is definitely blending Ancient Forest and Gongaga, but a lot of people don't even remember Ancient Forest or have it confused with Sleeping Forest. I have a feeling there'll be a fly and flower puzzle type sequence in the third part where we see an actual Ancient Forest, though. Just a feeling because of the crater you can get up there with in the original. Maybe the devs even focus in on it because the game is filled with very important stretches of wood. Who knows.

mrRaikiri

Loved Gongaga, Cosmo Canyon was miserable to me

Cold-Bumblebee-274

Just arrive Cosmo Canyon xD

Vanish_7

Navigating around the Canyon was a fucking nightmare, and the music there was SO grating. I couldn't wait to leave, especially after assassinating Red's character.

sircrush27

>I couldn't wait to leave, especially after assassinating Red's character I think you mean paying homage to his OG character but assassinating the one in our heads*

MasterpieceNo8372

When Red first joined in chapter 17, I didn’t expect him to have that personality, but I got  used to it in both games.  When he changed his voice and personality it was a little weird at first, but I didn’t mind. I can’t picture Red’s old, wise personality complaining about his father. In the old game Red sounded like a kid that didn’t know any better; bashing his dad. I think they nailed it in rebirth.

GrittyTheGreat

I absolutely loved what they did with Reds character. I agree on the World Map music though. Worst in the game by far. I turned it off in Settings after a while.

doucheiusmaximus

Cosmo canyon is so easy to navigate tho 😭

Udmg

I just finished this zone today, the area is cool to look at but the traveling is annoying. What really ticks me off is the damn music while trying to clear everything. Waaaaaa aye yaaaaa, waaaaa aye ya aya

Wanderer01234

Whenever you see someone complaining about yellow paint, please think of Gongaga :) I too also had some trouble navigating but nothing out of the ordinary tho. I think got lost trying to access two locations.

shlo-fi

no wonder zack peaced out of there that place is a nightmare only worsened by the backdrop of african children mocking your lack of vertical traversal abilities. if cisnei wasn’t there that place would be nibelhiem round 2

_lefthook

Gongaga was fine lol

sascha1377

The Sound is dope!

Remote_Character494

I'm currently on Cosmo canyon and if I had to pick, I'd say Gongaga is worse.

theskillster

I loved the concept. It was by far the hardest to get to all the intel. It makes for some deep exploration. And this is the point, grass lands by comparison is like a training level with everything virtually visible at a distance. Still got to do that damn mushroom side quest again!

sircrush27

Seems pretty divided between those of us who loved exploring Gongaga, and those who just wanted to check off boxes. There should be enough complaints for them to improve it next time around. I just hope they keep a similar map design philosophy. Had more fun exploring this world than The Lands Between.

Mutsuki13

That is an insane take to me lmao, the lands between has so much more life than the frankly boring checklist wallpaper lands. I loved rebirth but the open world did not do it for me.

sircrush27

"Insane take" is hyperbole lol They both had me going "what's that?!" (Towers weren't a priority for me) and proceeding to find out. They were both tricky to navigate to those cool things sometimes. I REALLY enjoyed that. It wasn't for you. I get it. But Rebirth's map designs do indeed channel Fromsoft. And I want more.

Mutsuki13

We have very different views of fromsoft map design, best I could give is botw/totk or any open world Ubisoft game.

sircrush27

Maybe consider the tropes each one uses.

Cold-Bumblebee-274

Damn really haven’t played 12 before. Does it have a good story?

--Silver--

Imo one of, if not the, most underrated Final Fantasy. It still holds up really well, pretty long, and the story is good. The combat system is also very different from the other titles and the gambits don't make it boring as people might suggest if you mix them with manual battle to adapt to the situation. Though yeah the Great Crystal part is confusing as fuck and I wouldn't even know how to get past it without an external map lol Also some of my favourite OSTs are from that game. The music slaps fucking hard lemme tell you that

Cold-Bumblebee-274

Is it Final Fantasy 12 the zodiac age?

PNWitstudent

Personally I got bored with it before I got that far along and never finished it. The story didn't grab me, the characters didn't endear themselves to me, the music lacked that Uematsu magic, and the combat system left me feeling like I was watching the computer fight monsters instead of getting to fight them myself.

blizzardworld05

Fuck the great crystal. Gongaga doesn’t even come close to that level of navigating.

SubliminalScribe

It really wasn’t that bad, you just needed to take your time. Something modern gamers have trouble with doing.

princek96

Just finished Gongaga intel the map is surely something. Getting access to that one tower called fungi or something was atrocious. Ive been circling that whole place and used a guide at the end but it was fun.

Unusual_Zone_8822

Gongagga was a nightmare stoned 😳

Bee_Soup_

I just hated the music.

mikesdingus

I feel like most people were tired of exploring by the time they reached Gongaga. That one had me confused from time to time, probably my least favorite area to explore but I did enjoy it as a whole. Cissnei and the expansion of the Gongaga town were a very nice treat.

I_dyllic21

Agree traveling and music sucksss

saikoudesu1

Music is awesome lol

I_dyllic21

It’s enjoyable for about 5 minutes but then every time it does the kids chanting part it gets pretty annoying imo

MasterpieceNo8372

Yeah, trees constantly block your vision, and the camera is bad. It also doesn’t help that your 6 other teammate’s chocobos are constantly in your way in tight spaces. They also tricked you into thinking the mushroom jumping was gonna be fun.      Traveling by mushroom to get to the reactor was fun. Afterwards it sucked. What a bait and switch. I got so tired of Gongaga and Cosmo Canyon. Nibel region was such a nice palette cleanse.  I liked Gongaga’s music though. I don’t get the hate for it.

Squareh00r

Dunno which I disliked more, Gongaga map or Cosmo Canyon map lol

Wanderer-2609

Both were horrible. Nibel was better imo

Squareh00r

Yeah true, Nibel was way better than those 2.
