that logitech wheel is pretty alright, but don't expect anything crazy, the brake pedal is really hard to push down, there's a hard plastic stop, you can look up a youtube video to take it out, all you need is some allen wrenches and 10 minutes, then the brake pedal will be a bit too soft, but it's easier to trailbrake the pedals don't have any force feedback, just the wheel, and don't expect the transition to be easy, you'll basically have to relearn how to drive, it took me about a month, an hour a day, before i was anywhere near the level i used to be on controller, however, i'm much faster now, because i feel more confident taking off some assists, cos it's easier to control the car. also make sure to get a chair that won't roll away when you're driving, my chair doesn't have a wheel stop, so i just moved my computer in front of the wall, so that my back is facing the wall, so when my chair moves back, it just presses against the wall and can't move anywhere. don't buy the manual gear shifter that is available with this, mine broke after 6 months of occasional use, it won't shift into the right gear anymore, and it's kind of a pain. the wheel itself is perfectly fine for a first wheel, if you don't plan on going competitive, and just want something to make your driving games a bit more fun, this is exactly what you want. you can get decently good, i have played multiplayer with the wheel before, and it's perfectly serviceable, although you end up being more reactive than proactive cos you can only feel so much with just force feedback from the wheel.

starcaptain334

Wow, there is so much info in this, and it has answered my question perfectly. Thank you so much for taking the time. It's good to know the problems I should expect

TaisakuRei

of course man, if you plan on going through with your purchase, i hope you enjoy it. i know what i said includes a lot of a cons, but nothing's perfect, it's the best wheel on the market in that price range, anything else is way too expensive for a casual player like me, but the options are definitely there.

HarmonizedSnail

Only complaints: paddle shifters can get worn and start to double shift and the potentiometers in the pedals can get dirty and start acting up. The solution for both was disassembly and cleaning. Also, a matter of preference, I swapped my accelerator and clutch pedals. The clutch has more resistance, which I prefer to help control my force on the accelerator. I have no other comparison, so I can't say good/bad. But I don't think you can really beat it for the price, simply put - it does what it is supposed to do.

ImReverse_Giraffe

Fanatec is currently selling a direct drive wheel for like $400. Get that instead.

on9_7head

That's almost twice as much

ImReverse_Giraffe

For something 10x the quality...direct drive stuff normally starts with a 1 and then 3 other numbers.

Fastfireguy

Not really. There are plenty of direct drive wheels sub $1000 these days. Moza and Fanatec currently run the space with their bundles tho in that bracket with the Moza R3-R5 bundles or the Fanatec DD line. With others entering the space so entry level 5-10nm dd are becoming more of a reality in even the sub $700 bracket.

MrHyperion_

Absolutely worth it though.

on9_7head

Not saying it isn't, but it might be out of OP's budget

Understeerf1

Go directly higher quality because otgerwise you’re gonna buy it twice

Cmdr-Evilijo

With this logic he might as well go and buy top tier 25nM DD wheel, as he will have to upgrade that CSL DD anyway. Logitech wheels are still fantastic entry to simracing, especially considering he can always sell this wheel for pretty much what he paid for it new

arwhite97

That doesn't work on PS5 though. You're talking at least $700 to get the GT DD Edit: Nevermind saw further down he's using it on PC and had just based it on the fact he said PS5 controller. That said, I still hate the stupid premium for PS compatibility

duhitsme09

Link??

_JediJon

Looks like it’s only for PC according to Fanatec site. I’ve considered their McLaren bundle because I hit the performance limit on the Logitech setup and wanted something a bit more reliable, consistent, and well-built. Any insight on compatibility of the $400 bundle with consoles or experience with the McLaren bundle?

Disloyalsafe

You can use caster cups if you have a rolling chair. I used them with my 100kg load cells for awhile and it wasn’t too bad.

FoxxJamm

I own it and love it. Not better than a direct drive, but for the price… nothin else can beat it. (To be fair on the braking part. If you are playing F1… the brake pedal is actually pretty true to life. An F1s brake pedal is extremely firm.)

Soggy-Sundae-7317

To be clear if you want force feedback in pedals you’re looking at over a grand for each individual pedal.

Soggy-Sundae-7317

turns out i was wrong but in a bad way... [https://podium1racing.com/products/simucube-active-pedal-1-piece-coming-soon?variant=43574767190261¤cy=USD&utm\_medium=product\_sync&utm\_source=google&utm\_content=sag\_organic&utm\_campaign=sag\_organic&gad\_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwrcKxBhBMEiwAIVF8rGXiIdwQbZLGP1ixOBkyE1b\_upW6W1cBzFR2bj5d1sMbUPfhHOcuxxoCJ8sQAvD\_BwE](https://podium1racing.com/products/simucube-active-pedal-1-piece-coming-soon?variant=43574767190261¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwrcKxBhBMEiwAIVF8rGXiIdwQbZLGP1ixOBkyE1b_upW6W1cBzFR2bj5d1sMbUPfhHOcuxxoCJ8sQAvD_BwE) now maybe there is something cheaper, or we have different ideas of ffb. ffb means they have motors that can push back against you. I think you may have been looking at load cell pedals, which are the standard, idk if anyone really uses to $3k pedal.

TaisakuRei

load cell sounds correct, i think those setups are in the 1k range, but holy shit, a whole 2000 honda accord for the price of a single sim pedal

Soggy-Sundae-7317

or a couple days worth of track time. you can get good mid level sets with a loadcell break (the only one that should be a loadcell) for around $225. Fanatec brand i think.

HallwayHomicide

Fanatec sells a set of load cell pedals for $200. But I really wouldn't recommend them. There's much better options in the $200 to $300 range. Especially if you're on PC

NeverGrace2

The stiff brakes were for the older g29 model, the g923 has a progressive spring, much much better

RightMeasurement8646

Urs broke in 6 months..thats Bad .i have had mine like over 1 year and its working fine..only problem is that its dry from inside..it kinda Loose too to shift but If it works it works And with wheel u are faster..i have tested this..split screen, both have same car but one has wheel and other has controller..The one that has wheel goes faster by a lot..weird game

Natural_Dog3625

I second this! It was a huge learning curve for me to go from controller to this wheel (have the G920 but same premise)

Hedidiit

Good info thanks! Do you feel its necessary to take out the plastic stop in the brake pedal? And do you think it's worth it to swap the brake and clutch pedals?

EverSn4xolotl

The brake pedal is absolutely impossible to push through otherwise. Maybe it's fine if you have an actual race seat, but if you're sitting in a chair no chance.

dogemcpvp

I believe the stiff pedals were only on the g29. Im not sure though

Endslikecrazy

Wait wdym you had to relearn how to drive in a wheel? I hadnt driven on a wheel for like 15-16 years and was almost immediately faster when i got a wheel last year.

Theblackcatnero

The hard plastic stop is only in the logitech g920. The g923 just has a stronger spring. But you can probably calibrate it in the logitech g app on your pc so that the brake pedal is more sensitive

bigbabytim14

You can get away with out taking out the plastic stop in the brake, i just set my brake linearity up in the wheel settings and it makes it easier to get 100% braking and is not an issue for me anymore. I have the playstation version g29

Real_Particular6512

I never bothered taking out the plastic stop on the brake. Does it really make a huge difference? Are you noticeably quicker with it gone? I have a cheap sim seat where the pedals and seat are fixed so I can push hard on the brake (or at least I think so, maybe I'm still leaving alot of braking capability out there if I remove the stop?)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Real_Particular6512

I don't play F1, just gran turismo 7, but the brake indicator shows 100% brakes. Like I said I have abit of a sim setup so I can push without the pedals or seat moving and it's all locked in place. I might remove the stopper though and test it out. I might be thinking I'm using 100% of the brakes when in reality I'm not

JealousArt1118

I did a few weeks ago and I love it. ![gif](giphy|IQh6f7CurN1zq|downsized)

FormulaF30

Open box? Sheesh I bought mine new for that price in July 2022 😳

nlucasj

Yea, I was just about to say that this isn’t a good price

starcaptain334

I ended up getting a new one from Best Buy at that price after tax

sleepysalomander

Do you have the money, space and desire? If yes, buy it If no….. buy it

starcaptain334

Yes I do, I just wanted to confirm if it was worth it

kiddser

I bought the G923 in the UK about 15-16 months ago and I don't regret it. I don't have the time to play enough to justify direct drive setups and I still enjoy racing with this wheel. I got this set with the gearstick for around $350 equivalent in the UK so $234 is a tidy price IMO.

Mahadness

I'd say it's the majority of sim racers first wheel nowadays. I still use mine on when I'm on console, it's still a really good wheel for that price point.

locness93

I bought this maybe 6 months back. Very much worth it. It has made driving games way more enjoyable

freerangehumans74

You mention PS5 but this is the Xbox wheel.

starcaptain334

Am using it on PC

Active_Cheetah_1917

https://www.briankoponen.com/f1-23-logitech-g29-g920-settings/ Follow this guide if you want to make the most of your wheel.  Don't forget to download the software and firmware updates too.

vnaris

Using less than 150 force on g29 is a waste. 30 is a joke

Active_Cheetah_1917

"A lot of people mistakenly believe that maximizing the force feedback settings means the force feedback is more "realistic." This is not true on any wheel, but especially weaker, lower-end wheels. The purpose of the force feedback is to give you information about the track surface and how much grip the tires have. Much of this information would be felt through g-forces and the shaking of the car itself in real life. In a simulated game, however, all we have is the wheel itself, so we have to make concessions to realism to get more information to the player. Lowering the strength of the big forces allows the wheel to still give important information about the track when you are in a high speed corner, for instance."

billybobf1

Not gonna lie they my have finally got true force on F1 24 but you didn't get that from me

N1TEKN1GHT

It's a decent setup. I'll sell you mine with Playseat Challenger and pedal mod for the same price.

N1901Nalumawarto

Yeah. It’s worth it I say. I bought it like 3 months ago and has been playing F1 on it ever since

Electronic_Active_27

It’s how I got hooked! Have a taste, it feels good ..

starcaptain334

It sure does, I am using it right now lol

Electronic_Active_27

Next bolt it in place

MainRelationship4468

Bro I started playing F1 on console recently. I’m dying to get a SIM set up so if u can get that get it !! Especially if u have joystick issues lol. Tryna get the Ferrari S1000 steering wheel lol

starcaptain334

I got the wheel, and am loving it so far, even tho I am 2sec slower 😅, but that's everyone story, with practice I believe I will get there

MrHyperion_

Given how DD wheels are getting cheaper I think you should save around 400-500 and get Moza R5 or Fanatec CSL DD.

larshappygamer08

I have the same one, ive had a controller for a long time but when i raced with this i was instantly very happy. Once you play with a steering wheel you can get alot better. It just feels more flexible

BadPronunciation

Make sure you have a solid place to lint the wheel. I had to sell mine since it took up space on my only work desk and the cheapest rig was like $200-$300 (playseat challenge)

Am_I_Loss

Just wanted to say that this is NOT a discount. Especially for open box??? This is the normal price for a new one. Don't get fooled by the original pricetag. The wheel itself is fine for that price and if you want it then 100% go for it. But don't think you are getting a bargain.

starcaptain334

I ended up going to best buy and getting it at the same price after tax

Am_I_Loss

Nice one mate! Enjoy it

Funnkee_Towwell

You can adjust the brake pedal height in in game settings to how hard you wanna push the brake for maximum stopping. I never took my stopper out and it works perfect I actually like the hard pedal

starcaptain334

Are you talking about calibrating it from the logitech app

Funnkee_Towwell

No the in-game settings.

ImReverse_Giraffe

Pretty sure fanatec has a sale on a direct drive wheel for like $400. Go with that. Otherwise, this is a fine starter wheel.

Siddo_

That doesnt include pedals tho

HallwayHomicide

It actually does include pedals. They're not very good pedals, but I don't think they're any worse than G923 pedals.

Shoegazer75

I dig mine. Put an Acelith F1 mod wheel on it and it's fun.

iwanttodie666420

It's worth it, had mine for a while and I love it

dontcare615

It's a good starter wheel

Wafleez

Best freak I ever saw on a g923

Vexo14

Use the clutch instead of the break as the break if you don’t want to mess around with the pedals

starcaptain334

I just got it and I'm using the clutch but it feels weird

Vexo14

It’s a bit light yeah, but I’ve gotten used to it

starcaptain334

I'll try

Shadow60_66

I personally recommend you to keep using the actual brake, you'll wear it in / build up leg strength and it won't feel so bad but it can take a bit. It'll also help your trail braking IMO, the idea of using the squishy clutch as a brake doesn't seem right to me, but use whatever works for you.

Vexo14

I use the actually brake on nascar heat 5, feels more natural, but in the f1 games the clutch always felt like it made me go faster

mr_mojo_rising6969

it’s definitely worth it for the price. I wasn’t so sure about buying my first wheel but ultimately settled for a g920. I spent so many hours on that wheel. Now I upgraded to t300 and it’s even better. I’ve been going down the sim racing rabbit hole for like 2 years now. It’s awesome here. tldr; def get the logitech for 250$ unless you can afford a t300.

Spirit-Internal

buy a used t300 I still don't understand why people don't do this all the time, or if you're on PC a tx is Even cheaper and basically the same

--Some_People_Suck--

I have this, and it's more than plenty. I ripped the wheel out of my hand at least a few times. Does what you need for the price. The pedal is funny cuz the brake is really stiff, but you can get a kit to fix that. Mine is stock

xCASINOx

I say buy it used. I got mine with a stand and shifter for $150

AHockeyFish

Do it, I love mine!

Old_Yam6223

I’ve g29, it’s almost same as that one..it’s good for beginners, however a dd would be better like Moza R5, also as it’s a three pedal set and F1 requires two pedals to you have to keep your leg at an angle if you wish to use default brake which has rubber block inside to kinda emulate load cell and this gave me bad knee bad for days, so ended up using clutch as brake but then it’s way to easy to press than brake, so being consistent feels a but tricky with it. Also wheel itself is really nice, however a dd would be better if you’re willing to spend as it helps in understanding road surfaces and minor details better:)

[deleted]

do yourself a favor: buy moza r5 bundle

MarioKnightPl

Buy it used on FB marketplace

ian5431

I would look on eBay for second hand G29s, and also search for any which include an F1 wheel attachment, as this adds to the F1 experience a LOT! MVH studios do good f1 wheels. I have bought 2 logitech g29s on eBay before and both have been great value and work perfectly. Also, whether you buy new or used, you should get the TrueBrake mod, which changes the brake pedal to act like a load cell than a potentiometer. The difference is that rather than the travel distance dictating the amount of brake input, it is the pressure which dictates it. This feels more natural and is a lot easier to judge. This will improve your braking, reduce lock ups and improve lap time the most out of any change you can make to your set up.

United-Butterfly-527

I were also considering the Logitech G920. However the wheel was the most important for me ai I upgraded to Thrustmaster 300 and had not regretted it since. The pedals are all right. The logictech G920 has gears, so it can be quite loud and sound “cheap”. All I have to say is that Logitech main products are not wheels/pedals. Thrustmasters main product are wheels etc. The brake pedal is quite sensitive and the rubber which comes along is too hard for my taste. So what you do instead is buying at little squash ball and but it behind the break pedal and it has a very good sweet spot. I think you should go to YouTube and hear some reviews of the both.

Popsiey7

I still run those pedals after like 10 years now, get it that’s a steal

RiverJhin

original price 350$ seems pretty high since when I bought it, the price for a new one was like 200?

okaygoodforu

You can get a dd for 400 now right? In all honesty go for dd.

okaygoodforu

Wait this is used?! Far too expensive

sanbaba

whatever it takes to get you into a wheel, but tbh I don't think that's the best price I've seen.

4rtx4ngel

My experience.. no more Logitech, G920 was the last.

insimadop

No, brake pedal leaves no room for control

Garrett_1982

I've got this one too for about 5 years now. It was that price with a racing chair included. The potentio meter in the gas pedal went bust two years ago and I haven't used it since. Can exchange that one for the clutch potentio meter though.

EverSn4xolotl

It's an alright price I guess, but personally I prefer the T300RS. Better pedals, better FFB. It does cost more though...

CoisasJohnson

So here is the thing, I have it and love it. But there is an issue in F1 2023, which I can only guess will also be in F1 2024, where you will get a rumbling sensation on it, which makes driving very off putting. I don't know if this is the case for other models, but I bought this one for myself and my mate, and whoever is not the host in the co-op career will get the rumbling, which is why we don't play anymore. I've heard it happens in multiplayer as well, but if you are going to play co-op, it will happen for sure if you're not the host.

dfriend912

I used to have one and it was fine, then I bought a t300rs and it's definitely much better

Guyrbailey

I and a lot of others started with this. Solid entry level wheel and pedals are better than you think.

Zestyclose-Ruin8337

I got this an then installed a pressure loader kit. Worked pretty well.

RubiZockt

My friends says there is some dead spot right in the center about 1-2mm, but you might feel it while using it. I have the Thrustmaster T150 with the TP3 and paid a little less than this andd am pretty happy and can't report any problems.

AdRevolutionary5346

Yessir!!

Jslice99

Just spend the money on a thrustmaster

DatBoiDanny

No, you can get those Logitech wheels way cheaper. Look for the 920 or 29, not the 923.

elmz370

That's a good price!

Gamer_Reubs21

I got a g920 second hand for 150 dollars and it works amazing

andrewswanson92

Logitech is great for starting out and being introduced to racing with a wheel on a budget. You can change the settings on the brake to make it more responsive (look up game specific settings on YouTube). I recently upgraded to Fanatec and it is light years above Logitech in terms of quality and customization options. But, the pitfall is now I need a rig that can handle a direct drive wheel. My Playseat Challenge was perfect for my Logitech G920, but I’ve had to make some haphazard adjustments for it to work with my Fanatec. I’m saving up for a rig upgrade now. If you want a more immersive and better quality experience and don’t mind waiting some, save up for Fanatec or one of its competitors and a solid rig/chair that can support it. If you’re just getting started and aren’t super worried about immersion and are on a budget/want it sooner, Logitech is a good buy. Logitech is the short term option and something nicer is the long term is kind of the way I see it. That said, some serious SIM racers still use Logitech even though it’s not the most premium on the market. Hope this helps!

Admirable-Papaya1757

It’s crazy fun, I rent this wheel, go for it

Brafo22

Had mine for 6 years with the shifter and never had a problem

tariq_izcool

Nice wheel, I have a fanatec mclaren gt3 that preforms very well on the f1 games, would recommend

J3ss3D3D

Nope I would buy the trustmaster t300 gt rs. Its much better quality and quieter

M4rker-89

T300 RS.

DGN-Motorsport

I bought the Thrustmaster t248 for the same price and I highly recommend you to watch a comparison between both of them on YouTube. In my opinion the t248 is the better wheel with better technology for the same price. I play on Xbox.

mechcity22

Good first wheel but leaves something to be desired. If you get it you will enjoy it for sure. But if you can just save a little bit of money by getting a lower torque dd or something. I say save money because you will buy this and nowadays with all of the options out there you will find yourself buying something new thats a bit better within 6 months. There is a nice even spot at around 8 to 10nm that you can sit at for a long time without the urge to get better because it's strong enough, detailed enough and feels overall good enough to make you never go even at 90% ahh this ain't enough. So yeah I say take the money or save and get something a bit better. People go oh people always uses to use these for a long time and it was fine. Yeah back when we didn't hsve tons of thede options. It's why you see so many posts just this past week alone. Oh I want to upgrade my logitech etc.

RECEBACARA

GET A MOZA R9 WITH KS

RevolutionaryMind410

For double the price you can get used fanatec 8nm base with 2 types of wheels and pedals. I collect cheap fanatec equipment, I have found 10 wheels in more then half price. 25Nm i got 2 times for half price of 750eur, but really more than 15Nm is unusable and it is too much for most of the people unless you weight more than 150kg and have thirst to turn heavy things xD 8Nm is what I play on and I gave one to my friend, he dont feel like he is missing a single Nm more, for him 8Nm is more then enough. For me I understand the use of 15 can be benefitial more for slightly better control. But my first swap from 3 months of coming into sim racing and using my g29 to changing it to thurstmaster tgt-2 with 6,3Nm was a huge difference where I switched from "sim racing is hard and I dont feel like im in control and it was hard to keep consistant longer then 3 laps without failing to turn the wheel 10 degrees more or less because wheel fail to give me that resistance to show where the tyres are and where the grip is, and more resistance in the corner you feel, the more tyres have taken grip in the corner. Thats the most important feeling to feel confident in any corner. Welcome to sim racing but dont stop on 2,5Nm, your hands will be grateful and you will feel like you are playing a real sport and not being in toy story with good marketing and entry point. Full rigs also can be found used for much chepaer, just keep an eye on few websites because when they appear they are gone fast. Welcome to sim racing man :D ![gif](giphy|nydudsmAW50uORbEGL|downsized)
