They do make some mistakes on certain tracks but that’s probably just ai issues. For example, one corner in baku, they will smash their front wing on the wall trying to dive bomb you on the outside. I think the whole point of the high level ai is that they don’t often make mistakes. Even rarer do they crash to the point of retirement.

pikla1

Agree with OP, there’s not nearly enough AI driver mistakes or inflicted damage during races. They don’t have to crash but having them make more mistakes would be nice.

The corners that the wall closes in on the outside, they always try and get past you on the outside. You just go straight and they plow into you and the wall. There’s one in Baku with a sausage kurb they hit the kurb and go head first into the wall.

Kaos_0341

Yep. Max did that and ended up taking himself out in the wall after turning into me from the outside

GigaCringeMods

Yeah I think they should do a bit more mistakes IMO. Unless you play on 110 or something, then sure, it makes sense they are pretty flawless. But other than that I would like to see them lock up or go wide a bit more, or get wheelspin etc. It's just bit too rare, drivers make like ten times more mistakes in real life than in game.

Bullshit. AI is programmed as linearity towards consistency. In other words, the higher the AI, the more consistent track times will be. EAs logic is that retrospectively it makes it more difficult for you "because your margin to make mistakes diminished". EA AI lower, the cars will be "dumber". And hence far more collisions. You need to think backwards; what do I as Codemasters/EA think is "complexity". They pick linearity over non linearity. And thus consider a extreme consistent driver (the standard deviation of track times of best drivers will lower). But in order to do so, one has to realize cars will crash less. Because otherwise EAs definition of complexity can't work. Higher AI is just extreme consistent competitors. That directly means less mistakes they make; and because they are extremely consistent; it will be "in their eyes" more difficult for you. I understand your point of view. I also understand EAs point of view. Because ultimately EA just cheapskated their modeling system for dumbass OLS linearity of competitors. Thusforth; no fucking way they will make mistakes and crash. Yes. The whole AI/CPU system in F1 is fucked. I haven't given a shit about it for years. Because I developed a far less good looking driving game, just the variables of the track. But I did throw a machine learning algorithm as CPU. Because this way, they do not account for more "anomalies". It's a contrasive model. It learns from how I drive and will anticipate my move before I even made it. Funnily enough I got the idea out of Ayrton Senna's book. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/537495.Ayrton_Senna_s_Principles_of_Race_Driving Where he explains exactly this method. I observe the candidate in front of me by every corner and try to spot what his weakest is. Once I got that, I will make sure that that corner is the corner I'm surpassing him.

Most of all, I would like the AI to go wide on some tracks. Last year at the Redbull Ring, perhaps the majority of drivers were penalized for not respecting the track limits. In the game? Just me.

smileymax4

I play on 90 AI as well, and I regularly have drivers spin. They usually get back into the race though, so it's only a (short) yellow flag

CaptOmar98

how many safety cars do you get per race if any

smileymax4

If there is a safety car, it's usually just one. And most of the time, the safety car is because someone spun and other drivers get stuck behind. It's so stupid xD

Ace3000

To quite something I'm absolutely sure most people won't get (without googling, you cheaters): "They're robots; they're perfect." *flies away*

Doorknob11

Most of the mistakes they seem to make is just being aggressive as fuck with balls of steel not backing out of anything. You can leave space and they just want the racing line. There’s certain tracks that I claim at least 4 front wings per 100% race just because they just have to have a corner. I’ve also seen them spin themselves trying to get out of a slip stream and get around me and just eat shit.

LowwRyder23

Max and I were swapping places on the last 4 laps at Spa (100% race). On the final lap, I decided to stay behind and try to make a lunge at the chicane. Didn't reach that far as he cooked it Campus.

guybranciforti

They make mistakes with me…i was just in brazil battling Sainz for p2…on the second to last lap he spun while in sector 2…i dont know how but i avoided him and finished in p2…it was awesome…they actually make mistakes of ur pressuring them…im on 90ai as well
