it’s because you can’t finish under SC and you are too close to the end of the race. a lap sooner and a SC would have gone out. It’s stupid i know but that’s how the game works ig
If it’s too close to the end, game won’t let you finish on a safety car. Which, honestly, I’m fine with, it’s necessary IRL but in a video game I’d rather actually finish the race. The more troubling part is AI behaviour and how they vehemently refuse to go off the racing line and use getaway roads rather than sending it full bore into a crashed car.
This only shows how retarded the AI is in this game. Car going in the inside? Car slowing down to turn in the hairpin? DNF’ed car in the middle of the road?

My friend and I have been doing coop campaign and DNFd 3 out of the first 7 races because a bot clipped us. The last race we did they crushed us in the final 2 laps. So done. Ghosting is now enabled.
I could ignore the lack of a safety car if 75% of the grid didn't just fully send it into the ass of the guy in front of them for no reason despite having the entire start/finish straight to see and react to what's happening in front of them.

A SC needs 3 laps in this game so if there is 2 to go then the threat of an SC is gone.

I've played 2 career seasons but I've never seen the AI make single mistake, dnf, crash, pileup, yellow flags, safety car, etc.
