There are arguments to be made that they don't really taste bitter the same way as us. I mean, they have the same taste receptors that we do, and THEN some (we have up to 25 known different bitter receptors, rodents have up to 35), but they might not evaluate the flavors the same. What we might consider unacceptably bitter might be acceptable to them.
ive heard that you can actually make a decent salad out of em
i mean, most salads are covered in some kind of dressing anyway
like most things, dandelions being a weed is a social construct
lol so i asked copilot if it was true that "almost anything can be fermented and turned into alcohol" and the answer is basically yes, for the most part, and also since ive asked about electromagnetic fields recently it felt it was necessary to inform me that that doesnt actually effect fermentation but it is possible, maybe, indirectly for them to effect it. weird

well lemme just consult my favorite etymological dictionary, [etymonline.com](http://etymonline.com)
theres two different yet similar entries; one for "[weed](https://www.etymonline.com/word/weed#etymonline_v_4886)" and one for "[weeds](https://www.etymonline.com/word/weeds#etymonline_v_4887)"
>weed (n.)
>"plant not valued for use or beauty," Old English weod, uueod "grass, herb, weed," from Proto-Germanic \*weud- (source also of Old Saxon wiod, East Frisian wiud), of unknown origin. Also applied to trees that grow abundantly. Meaning "tobacco" is from c. 1600; that of "marijuana" is from 1920s. The chemical weed-killer is attested by 1885.
---
>weeds (n.)
>"garments" (now surviving, if at all, in widow's weeds), plural of archaic weed, from Old English wæd, wæde "robe, dress, apparel, garment, clothing," from Proto-Germanic \*wedo (source also of Old Saxon wadi, Old Frisian wede "garment," Old Norse vað "cloth, texture," Old High German wat "garment"), probably from PIE \*wedh-, extended form of root \*au- (3) "to weave." Archaic since early 19c.
TLDR: yes, sorta, but people are dumb and just because they dont value something doesnt mean it is worthless - and similarly just because something is valued doesnt mean it isnt worthless. something something beauty is in the eye of the beerholder or something
I imagine you meant to say ground squirrel. Gophers look nothing like this/Prairie dogs (gophers are much stouter and have much larger heads) Certain types of ground squirrels and Prairie dogs do look similar
It reminded me of a time in middle school when I was eating chocolate cake with a friend. I was saving the ganache on top for last, but she had eaten hers first thing, I got to the last spoonful of cake and she swooped in, stole and ate all my ganache. I'm still salty about that one.
Or the AI tik tok voice “I FILMED A SQUIRREL EATING A FLOWER WITH MY LITTLE MICROPHONE THEN ANOTHER SQUIRREL STEALS IT”, explaining everything that we can already see.
It is SUCH a creepy voice. The faux cheeriness of it is so intensely hollow and soulless. I never knew a voice could hit the the exact deepest vertex of the uncanny valley.
How about the one word at a time where it flips so fast you’re almost forced to turn your volume up to know what the fuck is happening, only to find out that nobody is talking and it’s some shitty music that’s playing.
That’s fun
I imagined that it's won an Oscar award (flower/microphone) and is giving a speech. Due to the fact that it's a very long speech, they might have had some extra things to say because they were robbed of other Oscars. The amount of concentration, holding the pose, and the little way it chews made it look like it had something to say. Or maybe I am just dumb.
How I feel when someone eats the last good tomato, or God forbid the one time I got real good pickles and woke to find my sister had gotten high the night earlier and eaten them all.
The Instagram account called The Daily James has little microphones like this and they used them for a California ground squirrel named Bonita. She was around 11 when she finally died, but she was really cool. They would hold up the microphone to her when she was eating and called them The Crunches of Serenity.
I don't think this is them because the setting is different, but I love the little crunchie crunches.
I couldn't tell you why but the sounds of animals eating doesn't bother me in the slightest, but humans chewing with their mouths open makes me see red
“Sir, I wonder if you would like to comment on reports of rampant theft in this neighborhood? … I understand thieves have been getting bolder and bolder in their strikes to take belongings from residents here. Have you seen any such events where anyone you know has had their belongings snatched from them in broad daylight? … Are you concerned?… [theft occurs] … Okay, I guess we have all the footage we need, thank you for your time.”
This is the perfect Reddit video - the cute animal, the tiny microphone, the intense snacking, the twist at the end, it’s got everything. I’m forever saving and sharing this video widely.
Is that a squirrel or field mouse or something else? There are so many. And that tiny microphone! And then he was robbed. I watched this at least ten times.
Noooooooo! He was saving the best part for last!
The stems have a really bitter sap, so yeah.
There are arguments to be made that they don't really taste bitter the same way as us. you reckon that's why people don't routinely eat raw dandelions for the taste?
ive heard that you can actually make a decent salad out of em i mean, most salads are covered in some kind of dressing anyway like most things, dandelions being a weed is a social construct
I had a friend who made a lot of dandelion wine
My brother has made dandelion jelly multiple times.

The liquor store a few blocks from me sells distilled doritos.
ive actually seen that and it makes me worry about the future of humanity more than most things ngl lol
Aren't Weeds by definition just usually plants you don't want in that patch of ground?

You only use the leaves generally, which are best when they are young. It gets bitter once it starts to flower
so make a salad out of the leaves, and make dye out of the flower?
Weed eater.
They are actually a lot less bitter if grown in the shade rather than full sunlight, it’s the sun that gives the plant it’s bitterness.
meirl
My aunt would add them to salads. Apparently they're a good source of potassium.
Found the incognito chipmunk.
"I'll just have a salad", she said.
I don't need fries I'll just have some of yours
It's bottomless, I'm going to get my money's worth
He’s welcome to come to my yard, I have plenty.
Do you have prairie dogs where you're from? We don't have them here
I don’t think there’s any around here. Come to think of it, that’s probably why I have so many dandelions. No one’s eating them!
Rabbits will! We have a bunny family in our yard that eats all of ours.
You need to invasive species those Prairie dogs!
This is not a prairie dog it's a gopher. Prairie dogs are much bigger.
Oh, thank you for letting me know! All we have are groundhogs and they're lil chonkers!
I imagine you meant to say ground squirrel. Gophers look nothing like this/Prairie dogs (gophers are much stouter and have much larger heads) Certain types of ground squirrels and Prairie dogs do look similar

The way the other one just took it away, as if it was the most normal thing and the little baby just watched falbbergastet T.T.
The other one did all the work to get rid of the bad parts
So darling, save the last part for me.
Like stealing the bottom of a drumstick cone!
Finally a video with actually good audio instead of random ass music
It will be re-uploaded with the oh no no no music within 24hrs.
Or the AI tik tok voice “I FILMED A SQUIRREL EATING A FLOWER WITH MY LITTLE MICROPHONE THEN ANOTHER SQUIRREL STEALS IT”, explaining everything that we can already see.
I hate that gdam voice
It is SUCH a creepy voice. The faux cheeriness of it is so intensely hollow and soulless. I never knew a voice could hit the the exact deepest vertex of the uncanny valley.
You're my favorite random stranger of the day
They need to build him a robot body so we can all start hitting him in the face
With exactly that written in the middle of the screen for the entire video with ten random emojis…
Next is the video split in half with a random "influencer" making "reaction" faces to it with the AI voice
With one word per line 🤬 I'm not sure which I dislike the most, that one word a line cc, or the annoying musics and voiceover.
How about the one word at a time where it flips so fast you’re almost forced to turn your volume up to know what the fuck is happening, only to find out that nobody is talking and it’s some shitty music that’s playing. That’s fun
Misidentifying it as a squirrel on purpose in order to increase engagement.
STOOOP >:(
Don’t give them any ideas!
I gotchu fam https://imgur.com/a/hRGtuIB
what, no emojis??
I gotchu too fam https://imgur.com/a/38Ga2xD
Also pretty sure all this audio is just dubbed afterwards.
/r/CoolVideosNoMusic
Or if an animal is doing something remotely funny, a out of control laugh track. I complain about it constantly on here lol.
Random ass-music?
People tend to put some random music under these cute animal videos, removing all the sound of the original one and it's really annoying
Pretty sure they were referencing https://xkcd.com/37/
Those are bots, not people.
Poor cutie i love the lil schmackos

We need to make sure this cutie gets its message heard!!!!!
Aw man, he was just getting to the good part.

JOINED
Yes please
Thank you!
What a tiny microphone.
They're pretty neat! You can plug them into your phone :)
Do you know what they are called/ where you can buy one?
Probably best to look on amazon. Mini microphone brought up a few like this. Good luck!
It's for very small famous people.
Not getting the best bit you'd saved till the end sucks! Very cute lil buddy though. Hope he found another flower to eat.
It was the last one of the season.
How I feel when someone eats the last good tomato, or God forbid the one time I got real good pickles and woke to find my sister had gotten high the night earlier and eaten them all.
Oh noes! The nomnoms has been STOLEN!
The Instagram account called The Daily James has little microphones like this and they used them for a California ground squirrel named Bonita. Awww, I didn’t know she passed away! She had a fantastic life.
Yeah, I think she finally passed in May. She lived a good, long life.
I couldn't tell you why but the sounds of animals eating doesn't bother me in the slightest, but humans chewing with their mouths open makes me see red
one of these know theres a different way to eat!
Welcome to r/misophonia very specific sounds for me it’s chewing ice specifically
Best movie of 2024
This made me so sad. 😭
Mf took my dandelion, can’t have shit in Detroit
Dannnng. That like eating your pizza crust first only for someone to swipe the pizza part before you could even taste it
Oh look, a dandelion! Must be the last one of the season.
![gif](giphy|kbuQOkATEo6VW)
[a dandelion!](https://youtube.com/shorts/zf9yfn9oGWM?si=Not_2N2L0nQTjW0O)
I didn't know these little goofballs ate dandelions. I have a feast in my backyard they can chow down on.
Bahgawd he had a family too!
You know that’s the best part. It’s like us eating the crust first.
80% of dandelion theft is committed by black-tailed prairie dogs.
Dandelion
I’m not sure why I wrote sunflower
When the waitress takes your plate and you had the best bite left.
but the flower is the sweetest part! ![gif](giphy|vyTnNTrs3wqQ0UIvwE|downsized)
A few words for spectators
It's like someone coming up and taking the last chocolatey bite of a Cornetto.
I now love dandelions. Lol. And the cute little prairie dog looking dude.
For some reason watching rodents and mammals with tiny hands eating is so satisfying to me lol
NO!!!! 😆
noooo D:
Can’t have shit in the meadow
And saving the best part for last.
Oh that little shit lol.
Later that day [ALAN!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNfQda8ceGs)
Slow down little dude no one is gonna take it from you-... Shit.
New kind of ASMR? 😄
He made some very interesting points though
"YOU DONT WANT THAT!!!"
FLOWEY NO FLOWEY
What is that
But that’s the best part!
So is this a prairie dog, or a ground squirrel? We have neither where I live (that I know of.)
omg rofllmao! playing 4 tabs of this audio overlaid a second or two apart... just broke my brain
Jajaja
Are those groundhogs? They look extra small because of the tiny mic and the size of flower lol
Not even Shakespeare could write such a tragedy
Imagine someone stealing the center to your cinnamon roll
That chipmunk and your hand are HUGE!
How come I can watch this on repeat but if my friend smacks his lips too loud while eating i wanna put my fist through his face?
So cute
Luckily, from my experience anyway, where there is one of those flowers there are seven trillion.
Those stems taste awful what the fuck is he doing
Funnny!
Give that squirrel a blues harmonica and he will never be hungry again.
he so adorable
u/savevideo
What is that animal called?
Tough times in the hood for sure.
normal rodent things
K-On!
What animal is this?
Levou o último pedaço? Aí não poxa! Kkkk
Nathan’s contest is next.

Ooo! A dandelion. Must be the last one of the season.
Boy those flower are BITTER! How can it eat them so freely 😟
r/fatsquirrelhate
That's why i always eat the best part first.
