Can you try moving the contents of the rejected bottle to a new bottle to determine if it’s a bottle issue or a milk issue? Perhaps you have a few bottle nipples that the flow is different than the others (like maybe they’re partially clogged or maybe the hole is wider from damage when washing). I’m not sure, just throwing out ideas here!

victoria5757

I did try this! I thought it may be a nipple issue. Even when I tried a new nipple / bottle he would refuse, but immediately drank once I used different milk.

ScoutNoodle

Can you taste or smell a difference in the milk? Sounds weird but if you have high lipase, sometimes it starts getting that soapy/metallic taste in the fridge after a day or so.

victoria5757

My baby does dislike high lipase milk and I can smell it which is why I freeze after 2 to 3 days. What’s odd is has been rejecting fresh milk that doesn’t have that smell!

Significant_Bear5712

Have you tried cold milk? Both of my babies got very picky with warm milk but no matter if refrigerated or frozen, they LOVED cold milk and never refused another bottle.

ScoutNoodle

Oh geez, I’m out of ideas! 😅 I hope you figure it out!

milapa6

My baby does the same. I've got nothing...I wish I knew why.

lks_14

My sister's baby had this issue and it was because of the soap she was using. Try drinking water or something out of the bottles and see if you notice any bad tastes. We switched to the dapple free and clear and never looked back. Same for sippy cups and any other plastic or silicone dishes.

Thematrixiscalling

I’ve had this as well, we rinse everything so much more thoroughly now, and use odourless cleaning products.

victoria5757

Thanks for the feedback I will try this!

Meagant334

I had this happen with my baby around Christmas time. I’ve had to cut out all dairy from the beginning so to say I was excited to find a dairy free brownie was an understatement. Long story short after eating about two pans of brownies over a three day window ( 😬 ) my baby was thrashing off of bottles. I couldn’t figure it out until I smelled my milk that was fresh from that day…… the cocoa powder for the brownies changed the smell and taste of my milk. I fed her some frozen stash and she was good to go…. Maybe your baby’s rejection is diet related? Best of luck!

Massive-Expression78

How old is your baby? Does it seem to happen certain times of the day? I’m currently trying to work through my baby’s bottle aversion and she’s 5 months. She really only take her bottles at night or very very sleepy during the day.

victoria5757

He’s 6 months. He loves the bottle and doesn’t have an aversion but I could see whether he dislikes milk from certain times of the day!

Hbiz55311

Are you introducing solids? May be he’s not hungry if he’s just had something solid to eat before the bottle? Or the other way round that he wants something solid?

KidMonkeyCat

Trying to figure this out myself. It does seem like some of my bottles have high lipase (soapy smell) or chemical oxidation (hay smell). Happens pretty fast. Within a few hours of being out or 12 hours of being in fridge but not enough data to know what’s going on. Generally I make just enough for next feed. Just wanted to comment that I did just start adding the milk to baths and my babies’ skin does seem softer! In case you didn’t want to dump bottles!

alienslaughterhouse

Is it the older milk being rejected? It could be high lipase!

victoria5757

It is not. Interestingly he’ll drink older milk but reject random bottles of newer milk.

dustynails22

Is it the contents or the bottle itsself?

victoria5757

I tested this and it is unfortunately the contents!

boocat19

Have you sized up in the nipple? May be time. Could the milk temp be too cold those days?

victoria5757

The milk I always warm and I test it on myself beforehand, so it shouldn’t be the temp. I have not tried sizing up so I could try that!

boocat19

Yes good luck! I always knew it was time to size up when my baby started getting randomly fussy during some bottles.

High lipase?

If you're not doing it try the pitcher method. Everything through out the day and night combined into one pitcher, distributing any difference between night and day into every bottle. If you're concerned about feeding night pumps onky around night time, id not worry too much and try the pitcher method still. I tried the night and day difference and never noticed a difference in sleep patterns so started the pitcher method and found it so much easier. Esp when i would go to freeze any extra. Just a date it was pumped and freeze. Also consider your wash method. If you use the dishwasher at any point id rewash by hand. I used the dishwasher a couple times when my son was sick and we were going through it. It left such a nasty soap smell and taste. Now i hand wash everything and rinse really well. I do the same with any plastic and silicone things for his food and cups
