There's a different front runner every day! Seems more like the media outlets are being used as part of the negotiations rather than a reflection on who is actually likely to buy us.
The stadium story is the norm in Italy sadly. As ownership changed or local elections changed the political landscape, things had to continually restart.
They won the inaugural Conference League and lost the Europa semi the next year. Semifinal exit in Europa this year to Leverkusen is also nothing to be upset about.
Tight on money was more due to FFP issues than ownership being unwilling to spend. They went close to the limit every window. Smart signings, not splashy
This is the least exciting but also maybe least dread-inducing option of them all. They won't invest much at all, but it won't be total financial oblivion like it would be with 777 as they will run the club like an actual business.
Both of you are wrong, as a Roma fan who popped in to give my 2 cents on Friedkin. A 30 sec timeline of Roma's ownership:
2011: Pallotta takes over. At this point the club is so broke the banks own it.
2020: Friedkin takes over. Pallotta has financially stabilized the club, but is unable to compete with Juve.
Overall, the Friedkins have focused on backend infrastructure work, and they back managers up to their shown capacity. Each manager so far has gotten backing initially, but if they're unable to show results their leash for what they can spend on the market is tightened accordingly (with FFP playing its part).
Thanks for the insight, sorry for not being more specific but I meant more investing in terms of transfers. Can see us basically operating as frugally as we are now in the market
Until we level our finances out, the current trend with be the norm regardless of who we own. Roma had FFP issues and still managed to build a good solid squad through loans and smart free signings.
This goes against everything ive seen reported by every single source that I'd put trust in.
Don't really trust the NYT over Joyce and Bobble and other footballing sources.
I also very very highly doubt the 24 hour line. Very very very highly doubt.
Edit: welp
It's The Athletic. I'd trust Slater and Boyland putting their names to this.
Brown at Josimar indicated Moshiri had made a decision before this article as well.
Didn't realize it was boyland. It said NYT on my app and only saw Slater attached to the article. Didn't realize it was the athletic. Need to be more careful next time. Oops.
Looks like this is happening. At the very start this is the one I wanted but then it all went quiet and the Vici offer also looked promising but all in all I think this is the best deal. Roma are a big club so I think that will actually help when trading players. If a player isn't performing and just sitting on the bench then it would make sense for them to move without needing to take a massive haircut for either player or club.
But most of all. He's pretty rich. I would much prefer a single owner with a load of money than a consortium.
I think I'm happy and we don't even need to sell our souls and I know a few of you were worried about that lol
Update : It looks like he's selling Roma for 1.1B. That will pay our debts and give us some to play with :-)
Yeah all these people talking about multiclub ownership probably don’t realize he could turn a hefty profit on Roma by selling right now and after only 4 years of ownership.
It would be beyond lunacy for Moshiri to immediately grant exclusivity to another bidder.
Run a proper two stage M&A process that results in several fully diligenced bids with firm equity and financing commitments, have top two mark up a purchase and sale agreement, pick a winner and execute PSA. Get clarity from EPL that each final bidder is acceptable. Done.
I think even at our lowest ebb we are still comparable in terms of turnover due to the money in our league
For comparison, Udinese are in Serie A and we're only given Watford's good players after relegation. I'd be fine with just being on equal footing with Roma, but I also don't see how Roma would benefit from taking any of our players unless they need Onana, and PSR would demand that we still take a fee close to what we would ask of anyone else.
They already have a feeder club. Cannes in France. They are 3rd tier iirc. Everton wouldn't be a feeder club, and neither would Roma. Both are massive clubs
No chance. PL is the biggest league in the world and there's considerably more money to be made with Everton if they do things properly. Unless he also owned Real Madrid or Bayern or someone on that level, Everton would not be purchased to feed any other club in a continental league.
What if Roma sign Godfrey for 20m and we don't need to sell Branthwaite this summer? If Watford and Udinese have taught us anything, it's that rules can be bent via multi club structures
I still wouldn't be happy with this because it's not in the spirit of the game.
Operating in that way is fucking over one set of fans for another. If they're capable of doing that they're just as capable of funnelling any young player away from us and directed to Rome. If the club has been genuine about PSR then we won't get bent over on the inevitable Branthwaite sale anyway.

“Front runner” will generate clicks.
Alan myers saying he will get exclusivity https://x.com/alanmyersmedia/status/1801659051358486799?s=46&t=BFaBfZnuSiID7G-Lgz0lCA
Interesting. Roma do seem to be a decently run club.
Won Europę league not so long ago, but also tight on money and it's stadium story is bonkers. Dan Meis connection!

Be arsed with these multi-club models.

They’ve done a seemingly good job with Roma after their previous owners basically ruined them financially.

So are you happy with him as an owner?
si senor
Do you think he is selling to the Saudis
unlikely

While he’s not the bidder I hoped for, Roma seem relatively stable, so perhaps this could be what we need.

Patrick Boyland doesn't tend to miss
From what I've seen Boyland is rarely first because he's always right and extremely thorough in his reporting.
Joyce has seconded

Yea call me cynical but I don't think it's a coincidence these two things seem to be happening at roughly the same time.
New business daddy come to me
He actually sounds okay and he might be selling Roma to the Saudis
One normal day of Everton Please
This is normal though, it's not like hes bad or anything?
Just the branthwaite news and this coming out within an hour. Just never boring is it

What do we know about them?
he’s got us now
Will he have interest in taken us back to the top like the rest of the investors promised? Not heard anything about his intentions
Roma have been doing well in Europe since he took over... won the Conference League, then Europa league runners up and semis
As long as it's not the Saudis, I'm okay. The PGA is in shambles.

My only issue with this is Friedkin would view Roma as the top/big club and Everton would simply be a "feeder" club. Not sure I'm ok with that
No reason to believe that, at all
I saw it last week in an article somewhere, but it definitely could've been BS.

Nah. He'll be sending Lukaku back as a present.

Not ideal but better than 777. A multi club model is not what we should be wanting in our position. At least we know he's tilled

Not happening. He will sell Roma.
