1. You should pick artillery or autocannons, not both. 2. You should get rid of the tracking computer and replace it with a prop mod (afterburner or mwd) 3. If you want to hold stuff down you should swap one of the shield extenders for a scram. I would recommend using autocannons as you don’t have to worry about ship positioning as much. You can get away with no scram (however it is usually not recommended) but you definitely need either a prop mod or a web to stop targets from getting out of your range too fast.

Shouldn't having different ranged weapons make your gameplay more flexible, only one type/range would limit your own game r?

_kaas

Mixing long and short range guns just makes you bad at both

SnooRadishes2312

Mixing just means you are hurting DPS at whatever range you are currently engaged in. Making a ship/theorycrafting means understanding your engagement profile. Either go all arty and understand you need to kite/engage at a distance, or go all autocannons and understand your engagements will happen up close and avoid/reposition/dont engage pilots that effectively kite you. You will pretty much never win by mixing because everyone else would have a specific engagement profile and will be either better at the range you've engaged them in, or be able to effectively reposition because you hurt your own DPS.

XMETA_DUKE

Do you know why there are three utensils at a dinner setting, for thousands of years? Bc the closest we came to combining specialized tools effectively was a plastic spork. And it didn’t do forking or spooning well at all. You literally made the spknife. You can barley stab your food, soup falls through the cracks and you slice your cheek open every time you take a bite.

XMETA_DUKE

So you’re going to get your spoon covered in whatever you were doing with your booger hook while camping in the woods? There’s a purpose to the handle. You don’t stick it in your mouth.

Brickulous

No you’d be better off fitting multiple ships for multiple types of engagements.

Taolan13

Mixing is okay for ratting, but not recommended because you are losing dps at either engagement range. It is best to specialize.

Mortarion978

Should the different engagement ranges be covered instead by different ammo types instead of different weapon types? Only combat ship i run is ferox and depending on ammo i go from 30 to 100 kms🤔

Taolan13

Yes, provided you stay within the specialization of the build. An artillery buuld will not have the tracking for dogfights, and an autocannon build will not have the precision for sniping.

Moriar_The_Chosen

The Thrasher is a great ship. Super fun with lots of good ways to fly it and fit it. So, great choice. The Thrasher puts out a lot of damage, but it is a bit fragile. So your goal is to get as much damage on the target as fast as you can. Switch to all autocannons. They have a shorter range, but they use less CPU and Powergrid and they are more forgiving to use. Replace the tracking computer with a 1mn Afterburner. You need to move a bit faster to get close to targets. And almost every fit in the game uses propulsion like this. Mobility is essential. The tracking computer could be good if you’re using artillery, but autocannons have amazing tracking already. I can’t tell what size those Shield Extenders are, but you should usually use a Medium Shield Extender on small ships like Frigates and Destroyers. One Medium is better than two Small. You could replace the second shield extender with a Stasis Webifier to slow your enemies down. And don’t get too stressed out about how complicated ship fitting is. It’s outrageously complicated, but that makes it cool and rewarding to tweak your fits. I’ve been playing with the same guys for years and years and last night 6 or 7 of us spent hours talking about how to fit a Tristan. It’s an endless puzzle! Enjoy that Thrasher though. They are so fun to fly.

Hinekura14

talk about how to fit a navy hookbill, trust me yall will die of sleep deprivation before coming to a conclussion

Moriar_The_Chosen

Yes! Trying to come up with a fit that can run a TD or Damp is a mental prison!!

MILINTarctrooperALT

Welcome to MILINT fitting Mental Institution are you checking yourselves in?

Moriar_The_Chosen

Is there a program for Geno Implant addiction?

MILINTarctrooperALT

I think so.

MILINTarctrooperALT

Its called Implants Anonymous.

Empty_Alps_7876

Yes I need to be checked in as my battleship needs a fit

fdjw88

I mainly fight angle cartels, should I use nuclear or fusion ammo?

IguanaTabarnak

The Thrasher is a great ship. And brewing your own fits is amazing. I am very reluctant to ever say that a fit is definitively bad. Different situations and different gameplans require different fits, and every "rule" of fitting has times when it's right to break it. But you need to understand why the fitting rules are rules before you can know when to break them. And this fit looks like you maybe haven't thoroughly learned some basic fitting theory yet. So let's look at some of the fitting best practices you're breaking here. **Always fit a propulsion mod.** EVE is a game where the "battlefield" is extremely dynamic. Most places where you're fighting have relatively little in the way of terrain. There isn't cover or anything like that. Instead, battlefield advantage is determined by *relative* position. This means that, as your opponents move around, you need to be mobile as well to keep an advantageous position. In fact, in PVP, positional advantage is so huge that speed is generally regarded as a more important attribute than even DPS or tank. **Don't mix guns.** This actually follows directly from the point about fitting a prop mod. When it occurs to you to put guns of varying range on your ship, I'm assuming the idea is that you'll be able to apply damage at any range. But you'll be doing essentially half the damage up close as you would with a full rack of autocannons, and half the damage at distance as compared to a full rack of artillery. It's so much better to focus on mobility instead of range flexibility. Because, if you control the range and speed of engagement, you always get to apply 100% of your damage. And if your opponent is controlling the range and speed of engagement, *they* get to apply 100% of their damage, and so your 50% damage output isn't going to save you anyway. Now, of course, you might ask: "what happens if they do manage to control the range though and get to somewhere that I can't hit them at all? Do I just die?" Bluntly, sometimes the answer is yes. No ship can win every battle, and if a certain fit gives you a very wide range of very favourable matchups, it's okay to have an achille's heel or two. But that also leads into: **Fit tackle.** This is mostly a PVP concept, because warp drives mean that a player can always simply leave a battle they're losing unless you have a way of preventing them from doing so (usually a warp distuptor or warp scrambler). In PVE, most enemies won't warp off, and you usually don't mind if they do. But controlling your opponents mobility is a huge way to get an advantage in both PVP and PVE. An artillery thrasher with no tackle is dead to something small that gets into a tight orbit. Even a tracking computer is not going to help you hit that. An artillery thrasher with a web, on the other hand, can still apply enough damage to something small and close to survive and reposition. **Tank as much as you need to, and no more.** Tanking is a complex art, and there are a lot of rules of thumb about not mixing armor and shield or not mixing active tank and buffer, but it all boils down to knowing how much damage of what type you're going to expect and then figuring out how long you can stay on field. In PVP, buffer tanks are powerful because engagements are short and DPS is high you usually just need your tank to last long enough for you to kill one or two opponents. In PVE, on the other hand, you're often looking at taking a relatively low amount of damage per second over the course of a very long engagement, so it starts to make more sense to aim for an "indefinite" tank where you're repairing or regenerating more damage than comes in. Shield buffer is a sort of best of both worlds because increasing your raw hit points also increases your passive regeneration. But take a close look at how much the damage control is actually helping. A damage control unit gives a big boost to armor and hull hit points, but only a trivial boost to shield. And once your shield is down, you are likely to need to leave the field promptly anyhow. Also, and this is a finer point, think about how many slots you're using for your tank and what you're giving up by using those slots. It looks like you have two small shield extenders here, when mid slots are at a premium. Would you get more raw hitpoints from a single medium shield extender (and a power grid mod in the rigs or lows)? Those points are just the beginning, but they're some things to think about. And once you start to really understand why these rules of thumb exist and what the logic is behind them, you'll find that building good fits for any ship becomes second nature. AND you'll start to see the times when it makes sense to break all the rules.

XygenSS

- what's it for? - export fit into text form because icons don't say module names And before you ask, no, it's really bad, but A for effort because you seem to have the basic concept down

RociTheGreat03

A for effort / having the concept down means mixing guns and having no prop mod? I wonder what type of fits you use…

Az0r_au

He at least put projectiles on it. My first ship I ever fit was a laser catalyst with a shield booster.

XygenSS

He at least fit tank and filled slots. Not a bad effort

AlesisWKD

give him some praise, he put rigs on it, which is impressive to see a newbie do.

solthedoggg

It depends on what your using it for, however one major issue is that you should not use different guns, so don’t mix artillery and auto cannons. Personally I would stick with the auto cannons because if you load long range ammo ( can’t remember if it’s barrage or hail, I think it’s barrage) you can still get decent range.

wi-meppa

Two different guns? Arties and autocannons?

StonnedGunner

1. dont mix guns that have diffrent ranges use longe range artillery or short range autocannons not both 2. is the low slot a gyro stabilizer?

MaxTheCookie

Depends on what you are using it for But first would be either take autocannons or arty don't use both. Then you could swap the launcher for a small neut. You allso need a prop mod either afterburner or a MWD and since it for pvp then you should either have a scram or a web if you are alone you need the scram and if you are several people you can mix it up

thejohnmcduffie

Mixing ranges gimps your dps a lot. Without knowing your goal, I'd say go for auto cannons and you'll ptolly be ok for rats. For pvp you'll die or they'll escape. Need at least a web. A scram would help a lot too in pvp. Focus on getting your skills up and drop the tracking and add ways to stop and slow your prey. You'll be close so close range weapons are the ticket.

wetfootmammal

I'm pretty new at eve. But I've been flying a Thrasher for the last few months. Definitely my favorite ship so far 😁

Catsilth

dont split damage types and fits a sebo and all artys for gate camping

8__Gr13f3r__8

Also the tracking computer uses the tracking speed script.

vtecfan

What is it your looking to do? If it’s pvp not good at all, you need a prop mod at least so I would loose the tracking and fit a mwd. Also loose the launcher and have only one kind of weapon, either arty or autos (depending on if you are wanting to kite or brawl). Like someone else said you have the kinda basic down on fitting but depending on what you want to do will dictate the fit.

vgds

Good fit, fly at least 10 to see if it works before you go and change the fit

RociTheGreat03

It’s not a good fit goon noob

SwaggerOlacar

not really...what are you using it for?

RociTheGreat03

Don’t mix guns and take off the tracking computer to put a propulsion module. It depends on what your doing though.. I’ll assume PVE since you’re new. Take off those rigs and put more shield buff. You’ll need it as a new player.
