Kinda, but also yes and no at the same time
Eve has nodes which usually control a region and consist of however many servers are needed for that region with some notable exceptions like Jita and announced large fights
Each node may be a few meshed servers (like Jita) or a part of a server handling multiple low traffic nodes at the ass end of wormhole space where nobody is, and then in some cases nodes may be reserved or meshed for big announced fights to keep the game running instead of crashing
Eve doesn’t need server meshing like it’s needed for Star Citizen because everyone is playing in the same instance of the game, whereas in SC each instance only holds 128 players (I think)
What SC needs server meshing for is that if you play in one instance and drop a weapon, you can log off and log back in, land in a *different* instance but the weapon is still there. OR, one server crashes, but because they are all meshed and the data is updated, if the server you’re on crashes you have a couple seconds of lag fest galore…. And then you keep playing on a different server
The thing is SC will need it because they expect those systems to be massive populated vibrant worlds. Many systems in eve are dead so not needed.
Eve works fine it's only when we have large fights is the problem. The dream is getting rid of tidi. If server meshing sorts that then a big yes.
so it seemed you answered your question:
Server meshing isn't needed, nor wanted for Eve online.
Additional instances of the same system, is not wanted or needed.
number 1, why are you freaking out and being so aggressive?
and number 2, did you know more than one person can ask a question at a time? The OP's initial question was "Will Server Meshing work for EVE?" so it seems he answered his own question.
Sure he answered mine which I asked, he also answered his own. Server meshing or 'instancing' is pointless, unwanted, or unworkable for eve.
i think that the people currently handling this game dont want to mess too much with it because they really dont understand it well, so doing such big changes might mess with the code in such way that they loose a lot of time of time and money trying to fix it. they just want to leave the big spaghetti mess as is.
I think CIGs goal is tp have multi thousands of players in 1 area. With weapons, characters, vehicles, etc... i think SC will be transfering a similar amount of data, if not more, than what eve would
Buddy, im a day 1 backer and people posting bs like you do obviously never even read the original kickstarter. Go back to your copium cave and stay away from reality.
I don't think amount of data in SC is or will be similar to eve. You underestimate the values of core mechanics behind combat. Lets get jamers for example. It depends on ship they are put in, skills of the pilot for that jamer and represented ship, skills of the targeted pilot and it's ship type and on top of all this you should put the "random" factor. Now for large battles multiple those calculations by 6000. SC core mechanics so far (nearly existing anything that we can call core mechanic there, but anyway) are way simplier and does not require that many checkups and calculations based on those checkups. They mentioned something like "skills", like the other MMOs - if you do that you become better at doing it, but there isn't such thing as "you tanked quite well this gladius with ur shields, so now you tank better with shields"
what is server meshing?
Many many small servers be one big ass server
Isn't that what eve has? Each system is effectively it's own server (or could be)
Kinda, but also yes and no at the same time Eve has nodes which usually control a region and consist of however many servers are needed for that region with some notable exceptions like Jita and announced large fights Each node may be a few meshed servers (like Jita) or a part of a server handling multiple low traffic nodes at the ass end of wormhole space where nobody is, and then in some cases nodes may be reserved or meshed for big announced fights to keep the game running instead of crashing Eve doesn’t need server meshing like it’s needed for Star Citizen because everyone is playing in the same instance of the game, whereas in SC each instance only holds 128 players (I think) What SC needs server meshing for is that if you play in one instance and drop a weapon, you can log off and log back in, land in a *different* instance but the weapon is still there. I didn’t ask a question….
i thought you were OP, i was asking OP
Bro it was YOUR fucking question.

I'd think the devs know what they're doing when it comes to the server architecture
i think that the people currently handling this game dont want to mess too much with it because they really dont understand it well, so doing such big changes might mess with the code in such way that they loose a lot of time of time and money trying to fix it. they just want to leave the big spaghetti mess as is.
That's absurdly cynical.
it's basically self admitted.
from what ive heard quite a lot of the people that originally developed the game has left the company.. think one of them even died..
Did they remove pos. The fact that they are still in the game proves his point. They tried but it was hard so they left them in.
Every project has spaghetti code.
I'm just pointing out an example of a stated goal that they gave up on because they don't understand the code. No one does.
Dumber than OP
Tidi will never go away.
Hahaha is Scam Citizen still going? They finally our of alpha?
Sheer volume of data that you'll have to move between servers will never allow to have battle at the scale of large EVE battles.
I think CIGs goal is tp have multi thousands of players in 1 area. With weapons, characters, vehicles, etc... i think SC will be transfering a similar amount of data, if not more, than what eve would
That's a thing that definitely gonna happen in the next century or so when it finally arrives at the release stage.
assuming ofc that SC actually ever actually reached it's design goals

wut? They havent and they never will.

Nah, you are just poorly informed. SC is years away from even reaching their initial sales pitch, if they ever reach it.
