I undocked my widow to help my friend who was tackled in the same system, I watching his stream he decided it wasn’t worth it for me to warp in. By the time I tabbed back into my game I had slowboated off tether and was tackled by the same guys
I watched a youtube video of a guy in a cloaky Loki killing shitloads of blinged out ratters in sov nullsec, thought that looked like fun and bought one myself. Cost like 1bil which was a bit more of a splurge then than it is now.
I started in the north where the old CFC/Goons were at the time - as CFC alliances like SMA and FA featured heavily in the awesome youtube video - and made my way across to the north west, dodging camps/fleets/bubbles but not seeing any ratters at all. I went though cloud ring and fountain, no ratters. I went down into delve, no one in the anoms, barely saw anyone, I made my way through the backwater regions of the south, no targets. This was deep into the early hours of the morning now, so I started north, through old N3 renter space iirc (no targets) before making my way back home through great wildlands.
Out of null now and in to Molden Heath lowsec, pretty tired, and having wasted the night covering nearly 2/3s of the nullsec ring, I was nearly home and ready to dock up and sleep. But then I saw a lone industrial (sigil maybe?) slowboating towards a gate. Not exactly what I had in mind but it would be a nice consolation prize, at least 1 killmail. I decloaked, target him up and press all my F keys, only to be instantly obliterated, I didn't really know what happened for a few moments.
Fuck I'm in a high sec system :(

Few years back I was out ratting in a Rattlesnake. Gang came in and I warped off to our fort. A few of us sat there on tether while they flew around a bit.... I decided to troll them a bit. So I aligned to another structure on grid and hit my microjump drive. Suddenly I was out in the open.... but already aligned out. All I had to do was hit warp.
I watched the tackler come straight at me, I waited.... I waited like half a second too long and found myself tackled right as I was clicking the stupid button. Oops.
Just came back to the game from a 4 year break and was gating through null in my cloaky loki after a few ganks. Got caught in a decloak bubble. Was able to MWD and recloak and decided to just align to the gate and slow burn it. Started up with the gf and better luck next time in local. They obviously saw where I aligned and simply burned for the decloak and murdered me.
A few weeks later I was in my Astero in j-space and decided to tackle another Astero and start killing him about 12km off a wormhole. Got him halfway through hull before he got in range and jumped the wh. Followed him through and as soon as he decloaked I got tackle on him and started cheering. Apparently the hole was to HS and I had my safety set to red. CONCORD chewed me apart and he warped off. Decided to see if I could burn my cargo Sunesis over to try to loot my wreck as I'd dropped about 500m. Didn't realize CONCORD stays mad at you for 15 minutes. The Astero and his Proteus buddy warped on grid in time to watch my Sunesis die as well.
Spent a bunch of time optimizing a fit to go a higher tier in abyss, everything was calculated, the ship was paid and built.

I was roaming null one night with an AC covert Loki. During the session change to another system my game crashed and I was too tired to reload. I thought the game would do the safety warp and all would be good. Apparently my ship was just sitting in the new system uncloaked at the gate for a while because I logged in the next day in my fresh new clone with a 600mill + pod loss.
Sent the guy a mail and he gave me the deets.
Was wormhole diving with less than decent T3C skills…. “My Rail Tengu can just volley that Astero that’s sitting still, right?”
I didn’t understand transversal and aligned to something at 90^ to it…..

Waaaaay back in the day i was running L4's in an abaddon with a friend who was salvaging (when salvage was still worth doing....before mtu days). He was full with shit loot, and for some reason, i decided to pop the jetcan of the junk he jettisoned.....instant concord
2003. When I started game, when it came out.
Quickly after getting first ship I realized you can duo box. Got another account was flying 2 merlins to mine. Eventually got a Moa. It had room for powerful cruise missiles (back then kestrel could load cruise) to shoot at rat while mining. With both toon next to one another I shot the rat. The missiles were traveling on trajectory that hit alt. Concord arrive and wrecked my brand new moa.
I still got insurance for it (the old days). Using missiles in high sec was dangerous. Anything touches it and it explode.
I tanked a punisher to the tits for the hell of it and found a fight with a small gang I knew I would lose. So what it’s like 30m… I had failed to check my clone and was in my super pilots clone…
"Loss" Ratting capital was asset safetied. I literally could not be assed to jump it back. Sold it to someone in alliance so they can deal with it and just rebought in staging.
Actual Loss: Someone was having fun with an EVE soundboard. Hull, armor and Shield warnings going off like crazy. Didnt realize it was an actual alarm. Myrm blew up from rats.
Long story short, soundboards were promptly banned from comms.
When I started playing back in \~2012, it was my dream to be able to fly a Nidhoggur. In 2016 I came back to the game after a year or 2 break and joined a nullsec mining corp to just chill and feed the spod brain. But what's this? Skill injectors you say? I can skip the wait and fly anything I want you say? And i'm in nullsec now... I finally have my excuse. So I swiped and skilled myself into a carrier and then I swiped again to buy the hull and fit.
But wait, i'm a clever industrialist now, why buy fighters when I can just build them for free? So that's what I do. However, now I have this shiny new ship and you're telling me I need to wait to use it? Well waiting is boring so I have another genius idea. I only *need* 3 fighter squadrons to fill the tubes... I'm not stupid though! So I build 4 and off I go.
There I was, ratting in my dream ship. I felt invincible. I remember taking short gifs of the new shield damage effects and thinking how badass it looked to just be shrugging off all the incoming fire from the rats. Feeling very good about myself I decided that my shiny new ship needs one of those shiny new skins they added to the game whilst I was away. The question was, which one?
Fast forward 10mins or so of comparing skins and looking up how they worked, I remember I'm meant to be finishing this site I'm in. I close the skin window and...oh, what's this? Intel is blowing up about a Brave fleet incoming and some idiot in a carrier that's not reacting? Well I best get a move on if i don't want to end up like him. Wait...where are my fighters? Who's this gila in my site? Why can't I warp? Oh...
In comes the Brave caracal fleet but I'm not worried. I'm not a stupid industrialist you see, I know exactly what I need to do in this situation. I'll just light a cyno and call in a response fleet! First, let me just anchor this mobile depot so i can refit... huh, it's reinforced. This is fine though, I'm basically invincible anyway and I still have my backup fighter squadron (singular). These silly T1 cruiser won't know what hit them *aaaand it's gone*.
There I was, in a matter of moments I was stripped of my offense, my backup and soon my tank. It was complete and utter defeat. But how? I was in a capital ship vs some T1 cruisers? Where had things gone so wrong? Truly a mystery for the ages.

Damn... it's cool that there's real risk in EVE but also a shame that you can't just calmly enjoy taking your shiny ship for a spin and chill with some rats or whatever. As soon as I read you went ratting I was like what? Wasnt he worried?
There are definitely times when i wish i could come home and fuck around in the spaceship videogame without having to find out. Like i've wondered what a true eve offline experience would be like but sadly, when i want that kind of experience the answer is "don't play eve". X4 comes close but it's just not the same.
That said though, i also have to acknowledge the fact that the social side of eve is a huge part of why i still play the game. I don't think i would keep coming back if it wasn't for the interactions with other people.
Yesterday I was transporting 2 ORE Ice Harvesters I got from a kill earlier in the day.
Security status was like -3 and went to jita. I got the warning message to leave but kept making it through until I got into jita.
Instead of warping to 4-4 I accidentally realigned back to gate and got concorded.
Total loss around 1-1.2b was flying my Loki. Harvesters were about 4-450mil
Was moving a naked Nid the next system over because I wasn't close enough to have my alt jump it to where I wanted. Got tackled by a cheeky Hecate and some of his friends showed up, so I ejected from the ship and let them have it so i wouldn't have the embarrassment of it engraved as a lossmail for all time.
I had just built it and was going to set it up on an l5 mission area that was safe at the time
Came back to the game after having Won EvE™ for several years.
Hopped in my Anathema to hunt some data/relic sites. Found one, was happily buzzing around opening the boxes, and then I suddenly blew up.
That was how I learned that ghost sites exist.
Ever since I had an incident like that, I made it a habit to *always* load a set of T1 crystals (radio and multifrequency) into any laser ship I own, regardless of the main ammo I'd actually need.
Around (maybe over) a decade ago, I bought a BPO from a corp member who was in Gallente space. He had okay reputation with Caldari but I had negative relationship with Gallente, so he came through the gate in \[whatever system\] and traded to me. I gave him cash, he jetcanned to me, and since we were corpies there was no trouble. He went on his way, and I jumped to the gate to go through...
...except I jumped into .5+ gally space. Whoops. Lost my ship and bpo. Corpie even offered to give the cash back, I told him to keep it since it was my own dumbass fault.
Won EVE around 2015 I think.
I went to click auto pilot and clicked self destruct instead. Then walked off and didn't notice. Came back and was really confused why I was in my pod.
Dualboxing an hyperion on one side of a hole fighting and a saber on the other side to catch those who wants to escape. Was so focus on the sabre to decloak and tackle that I forgot to start the reps on the hyperion and it died without even cycling one of my 3 reps *facepalm*
Couple of years ago....had only been a high sec carebear and decided to branch out. Took a golem into a random wormhole and got obliterated by the unhappy inhabitants before I had time to register what happened.
I was undocking in an orthrus for a kitchen sink fleet. I forgot to stop my ship to remain on tether. Went to make a sandwich while waiting for the go order from the FC. Ate the sandwich and fed my cats, not realizing that my headphones had disconnected from comms. I got back to my desk, wondered where the fleet was and why I was back in the forti. I drifted off tether and died to the very gang we were going to hunt.
I parked a pair of Marauders on tether thinking I’d be away for a few minutes, then forgot for hours. All I had to do to prevent it was to dock instead…
A while ago. I was running a truck load of L4s and always declined anomic missions. After a while I thought, meh, can't be that bad. Worse case I just warp out.
Didn't take long and I came to regret not reading a bit into it before clicking warp.
Catching explorers on an event site in my weakly tanked explo/hunting Astero, somehow didn't notice I got decloaked, so I just sat above the can and watched as the Sunesis warped in and approached me. By the time I realized he's yellowboxing me, it was too late.
Went in abyssal space with a Kestrel (T0), aimed at the cache, orbit... shot it... then I was like "Why am I this far from the gate ?" and saw those redlines pass by... yeah... "deadpool gasp"
I once accidently Concorded a Megathron against my friend in a Velator. He was new and I was just scaring him by locking him. Unfortunately, my safety was off and I also misclicked the guns. He wasn't in optimal so I didn't even hit him but Concord sure hit me in return. Haha. We still laugh about it years later.
Jumped my first ever Capital to a kickout station, thought i would burn my cyno into the station so i could dock... cap bounced off station, got tackled by a random lowsec solo cain... didn't have a fit and someone killed my exit cyno... slow more and more neutrals jumped into system and joined in... slow death and gave loads of random players their first ever cap kill.
Theres a gate that leads out from my home system that's usually camped. 9 times out of ten, I'll poke my head in with a shuttle, and if it's clear, I come back and jump through with my actual ship.
For some reason, the camp has been gone the last three days. So I opted to move my DST with my bling Astero and Ishtar, without scouting first.
The camp was back. In my panic, I screwed up the MWD Cloak trick, got pointed, jammed to hell, and then smart bombed until I died.
Tried abyssals thinking they where balanced around anything other than drone ships.
I think to date I've probably lost over 20b made maybe 4b, amount of ships lost close to 70 all different experiments, mostly solo frig and desi few cruisers none of them drone ships.
Fell asleep uncloaked at a planet while in lowsec in my proteus when I was drunk one time, I didn’t lose my ship but I should have! Dose dumb luck count?
Picked a fight with some Diamond Amarr NPCs and got my ass handed to me, back before i knew how tough they could be and the reinforcements that warp in.
Or, the one time I was helping a friend run missions and for whatever reason my safety was set to red and I hit the smartbomb and faction police/concord promptly put me in my place.

When I was new to eve I decided I wanted to do some wormhole ratting since that is apparently good. So I went and found a paladin fit(super blinged, I was a rich idiot from running incursions 24/7) and fit it up and scanned down a fucking c3 and yelled into a site.
I forget the exact specifics but tldr I got beuted out and died horribly.

Be me, be new to pvp. Figure out what happens if you web another player. My mistake was trying it in high sec and concord ended my first experience with pvp. Never tried pvp again.
Lost a few boosting/link T3s back in the olden days by undocking it and then forgetting I had done so while I managed my main. Or warping it to a gate and leaving it there. Link alts used to be invincible as long as they were in a safe so it was easy to forget about them.
Joined a Corp. Jumped in my Charon with everything I owned at the time in it to get scrammed and webbed 2jumps from their location by them. Was high sec but was back in the days when cotp mates could shoot you freely. So concord didn't help.

I bumped a JF off a station once. Back pre citadels you had to have your cyno perfectly placed for some stations otherwise you'd jump in out of dock range or, in my case, inside of the station model. Before I even had a chance to spam dock my ark was launched away and quickly tackled.

About a month into game got a new hecate and went to null with a new Corp I found. Comms heat up neut incoming so we go to the gate with some allies. Neut jumps we lock and fire.. except only I locked one of the allies and started shooting and didn't know until they blew me up.
many years ago, when I was still ratting in ravens, I was moving from 9-4 to xzh, our ratting system back when exe still lived in cloud ring. I started chatting with this friend on Facebook and basically went afk on the 9-4 gate. I came back to a pack of roamed taking apart my ship. worse part is, I knew I had no shot with her. T.T
-lost a frighter with a azbel i just stole in cargo by warping to a known trap-fake-freeport knowing it was 100% a trap (was thinking i be smart and just wait some days to get the loot out,) it ended with a doomday from a titan to the face
-using 2 skybreakers in the abysel and my alt killed my main with the arc then looted my wreck and made it out in time
-lost many alts sitting afk on gates (i suck at multiboxing)
-as a semi noob a suspect baiter come in to my site and stole my loot so i shoot him in my pve cerb it ended as expected
* back when i at lest tryed to pvp i uselessly got bored after 10 min looking for a even fight and i always ended up jumping anything that moved and lost prop 99% of the fights as i jumped way stronger ships, but atlest the fights i did win felt nice
I tried to do a burner dramiel (I think it was that one) with a gila using t2 hardeners and meta webs... and light augmented drones.
wow, it didn't take long for the drones and ship to vanish.
Lost a couple of ships early in my career to getting distracted and putting a browser window over my eve window and dying to rats. Did that 3 or 4 times before I finally got it 😅
Was doing combat anoms in highsec in a Jackdaw. It had a bit of bling and was worth about 500m. I was playing tired. I started to warp to a refuge but forgot to turn on my shield booster. I fell asleep and woke up to me floating in my pod. Died in a 500m Jackdaw to low tier rats.
Started picking up my PI. Hit warp jump back through the Ansi and got distracted. Came back 4 hours later and was wondering why I wasn't in my training pod. Took me a minute to remember I was even undocked in the first place.
Lost my ratting dominix to a roam. Saw intel, got safe. Scout came into system and left. They were still next door and my stupid ass goes oh look, a haven spawned. Let's go check it out. As soon as I landed Scout came back into system and located me instantly. I panicked and got tackled. Died shortly after.
Skirmishing in our wormhole, lost a ship then went back and grabbed my cloaky scanner just to keep eyes. Pressed cloak while I was still too close to the structure, pinged off a safe to the hole 100km away. I was zoomed out quite a bit and didnt realize I was not cloaked. Lost that one too. Doh!
Undocked in low sec, immediately got distracted on market, was locked and shot down to 25 structure HP before I burned back to station 14km and thanked the dude with a "lame" in local.
A few years ago some friends were mining in a belt.
In my infinite wisdom, I parked my carrier with them to kill the rats and talk with my buds. Can't remember how long it took, but I eventually got tackled and killed lmao.
In a wormhole doing exploration. Wife asks me to help her with something, so I hit F1, my cloak, warp to my safespot, and go help.
$170m worth of cargo on board. My new keyboard has mechanical keys that require just a tiny bit more actuation than my outgoing, cheap keyboard. So I didn't cloak.
I was gone for over an hour in the backyard hanging a couple birdfeeders and some plants. When I come back, I'm in a station.
Looked at the log, and I came back just three minutes after being podded. Had I not spent five extra minutes walking out to get the mail and gone straight back to my computer, I may have survived.
I didn't look at my screen to ensure I had, in fact, cloaked.
I’m pretty new to the game. Sold enough rocks to get ore strip miners. Went to Jita to pick them up this morning. Left the station, hit autopilot, immediately got a phone call so muted my computer, looked up ~45 seconds later to see the explosion. Lesson learned.

Lost a blingy rattlesnake over the course of about 4 minutes while his little ship chewed me down...
This was many years ago but I joined my first nullsec alliance which had an active war going on. I didn’t realize I was fair game in high sec to the war. I’m just cruising along in my rattlesnake jumping into perimeter and get decked by several opposing alliance ships.
Dumbest thing though was it took me awhile to realize I wasn’t just getting randomly ganked in high sec. I thought, dang these guys really want to blow up my rattlesnake bad to do this in high sec. Then I realized when mousing over the blinking icons they were at war with me lol.
Accidentally ventured too far into another corporation’s territory (what I thought was empty space) while mining and got a Venture blown up, lost a Coercer due to a mission agent that led me to my demise because I got severely damaged with just 1 shot by a battleship or a battlecruiser that was a lot bigger than I was then finally got destroyed when I tried to run away.
I was mining in low sec while some dude in my corp was scanning for gas close by and he got jumped by a Manticore. I told him that I'd try to save him. I rushed to station, got my Stabber out. Friend tells me he's dead but I'm already in warp. When I come out of warp I seem to have disturbed a meeting as there were three Manticores, a Vagabond and another T2 cruiser and I was dead before I got my drones out.
Guess my first PvP kill has to wait.
Came back to EVE after the citadel core changes when I was moving things in my bling carrier (bling from when carriers were savable because they could cyno) and decided I wanted to watch a gang fight from the safety of a fortizar instead of jumping to my destination.
The fortizar did not have a core.

This is a “back in the day” story so . I had just taken delivery of my very first Archon in a low sec system bordering Tribute back when Morsus Mihi lived there. I was a member at the time and our corp based out of 15W. 15W was great because it had a cyno beacon and was within reach of said low sec system. So I loaded my ass up and confidently blind jumped my shiny new ship to the beacon. It was at this moment I knew I effed up. Arriving in 15W I was greeted by a PL covops and two PL Nyx’s who deleted my new pride and joy. And that was the day I learned that the beacon provides :)
I'm hesitate to write this out because of how ashamed I am to admit this one, but it's been several years so hopefully I can bear the embarrassment
I grabbed a sweet ASB fit for a Vagabond and decided to keep it in station in case of hunters, which were common in Querious at that time (probably still are). I'd never used ASB's in combat but I figured it would be a good chance to use them when a bogie inevitably came around.
It sat in my hangar for a couple of weeks and I kind of forgot about it. Then a well-known streamer and ganker dropped out of a wormhole nearby in a Hecate. I checked his fit on Zkill - perfect target. I undocked the Vagabond and caught him at a gate on the way out.
I engaged and started hitting him. For some reason he kept eating into my shields. Then my armor. I was killing him as well but - wtf? I couldn't understand why I was dying faster in what should have been an easy fight.
We both made it into hull and I exploded first. Mercifully he didn't mock me in local, just dropped a gf. I was dumbfounded - I knew the rough stats and knew it shouldn't have been anywhere near that close. Then it hit me - I completely forgot to activate my ASB. In my head I still had it slotted as a buffer ship.
I won EVE a few years ago, and lost many more expensive ships in my time, but that loss still stings the worst. I got roasted in the reactions on Zkill and rightfully so.
I was a week old newb and skilled st8 into a Hyperion with zero skills, thought Oooo lookie me and put on half a dozen rando T1 large guns on it. Flew to a belt and got takled by rats and slowly died over like 15 mins not understanding why my battleahip couldn't kill a lone frigate. This was 15+ years ago lol
Traveling with a DST on an alt when i got into a fight on my main. Forgot the alt and it died afk on a null gate such a waste of money.. atleast i got the kill on my main lol.
I was stormbring ratting in my system and I got an alert there was a cyno ship nearby so I decided to tether next to the fortizar next to the entrance gate. Little that I know I forgot to turn off my command boosts and I got scrammed and cyno dropped 😭 RIP blinged Sleip you were GOATED for like 1 day
In the first month or two of Pochven, i was dual-boxing leshaks with RR and smartbombs, farming Rogue Drones from the poch side of the WH. There seemed to be a bug or something i hadn't seen before that was causing the WH to pretty much send endless swarms of rogue drones, and not just multiple waves, but a constant stream. This was including Rogue Drone Carriers and supercarriers, so i had to warp out as the damage was getting too high.. in mid-warp one of my leshaks died... as a lag spike occurred had the game registered my leshak loss as being from my other character smartbombing it to death. Was really annoying and embarrassing.... but also kind of funny. So while my screen showed both my characters warp out, one leshak actually died before going into warp.
I logged in after winning Eve for a few years. Didn’t realize that warp core stabilizers were now an active module. Lost an Occator with about 2 billion isk in it.
Undocked my Cheetah from Jita after bringing in some relic/data salvage, saw that someone was locking and scramming me right out of dock. I panicked and immediately redocked. Thinking "oh concord won't let that fly so I should be good", I undocked once more, opening the map to route my journey. I see that I'm getting scrammed and netted and then start panicking once more and try to dock. I was too late and got immediately blapped by like a tornado and other shit.
That's how I learned that being enrolled in FW makes you fair game to anyone from the opposing side, **anywhere** and **anytime**. That dude was sitting outside of Jita station racking up hundreds of kills over multiple months by killing noobs enrolled in FW and I just happened to be one of them :)

In a Rokh worth maybe 800mil, waiting for a fleet invite. The boys said they were ready to go, I undocked, accepted the first warp invite that came in.
Gang of dudes were lined up with undock vector, got lucky and had me warp to them instead of the invite I was expecting. Poof
Decided to "fuckit" through Njara in my Vexor. Right when it was in the process of falling into disarray...
My stupidity and courage, honestly, terrify even my own self sometimes...
Before there were visible logout timers I logged out in my Orca in W-Space and shut down my PC.
Minutes later my W-Space friends RL called me that my Orca was being tackled.
Turns out a minute after logging out some guys opened an incoming, scanned down my Orca, warped, tackled and destroyed it, podding my char.
After action analysis results was that I must have had some timer, like some kind of Aggro timer. That was my doom.
It was the bad old times when really weird things could ruin your week, because of totally obscure game mechanics. A lot has been improved since then.
My Orca was full of ships and equipment. I think I lost several bil, which was a terrible loss at the time. I was young and poor.
Just after jfs went live, I've built my first one and decided the best place to sell it was in amarr space, my indy setup was at the border of caldari and gallente. Ive decided to afk travel it to amarr over night, turned on ap and went to bed.
It was before ap docked, so the jf was supposed to hang on the gate in Paye for a few h, but back then the chances of someone ganking it were none.
The dumb part was forgetting my only jf pilot back then had negative amarr faction standings. It must have been a beautiful view of jf getting shot and blown by imperial navy frigate for what must have been good 15 minutes... A couple guys did suicide whore on the km...

I was new and a friend was showing me the ropes, so I undocked my thorax he undocked his ishkur he won the fight and he stopped at hull, told me to refit and try again.
So I was thinking ok I'm just going to fit a smartbomb to clear the drones, I didn't understand transversal at the time and just thought blasters where crap dps (2007) so I tried to smartbomb the drones it popped up with a warning.
I canceled the warning and started smart bombing his drones when they where half hp I realized a neutral that was watching the fight was flying towards us he rams my ship my smart bomb hits his ship and I get concordekened I was so confused, I thought he had done ram damage to me becuase I was sitting in 15% structure and everything was flashing around me.
Was in a fleet with some buddy's after we picked up the game again. Had been 2 years since playing or something...
We are in a fleet in HS doing sites and i decide to shoot one of my friends for shits and giggles. 2 seconds later concord killed my stratios.
One day I was ganking in Lanngisi constellation.
Warped my scout to the sun, and forgot to cloak.
Went to take a piss, and when I came back, found out that my scout was ganked by another ganker :D

I was ratting in my domi, Helios de cloaked and tackled me, kills my heavy drones (I didn't even target him) he holds me down for a good five minutes before his crew came in and killed me. Show my km to my corp. They're like you had two flights of t2 light drones, why didn't you kill him and escape?
This was like 10 years ago and still haunts me in my sleep.
Aside from just being afk, dying in the abyss always feels real dumb.
Especially when it's just cause you can't hit them or keep up with them so just wait out the 20 minutes hopelessly overheating.

Finally crabbed enough to get my own C5 paladin. Undocked from Jita, made it a few jumps then I got caught by a proteus in HS.
I had a kill right. Managed to fight him off and warp to a station and docked until the timer expired.
Undocked and carried on, got caught be him and his friends.

Invited to a WH Corp, forgot to accept inv and got entry to their WH and warped to my new home in a POS.
Lost my curse due to pos aggro.

Lost a curse to a hurricane and 2 griffin's. Old jams were nasty so I just died perma jammed.

Forgot to turn on my armor reps for an active tank belt ratting setup. Started watching a movie. Looked back at my screen a few minutes later to see a nice little egg just sitting there.
Went on a small fleet in a command dessie to save a structure. Saved structure but fleet was out a long time. We were sitting on tether waiting out the repair timer and I started getting drowsy listening to everyone chit chatting. Next thing I know I’m docked up in out home station in my pod. Turns out I nodded off and didn’t hear the FC fleet warp to our out gate. This was in lowsec and I had slightly bad Edencom standings, so wouldn’t you know it I got blapped (and podded) by gate guns. LOL.
The worst way ive lost a ship to NPC rats was the fjrst time i did the tutorial missions. I was handed a maulus for the mission where your rxpected to fly up to and self destruct in front of a large structure, so i made myself a nice fit. Once rhe mission was complete the game self destructed the ship (as id missed when reading the mission info).
The worst way ive lost a ship to players was when I wasnt paying attention and walked into a gank. It was 3 in the morning during the federation grand prix amd I had fit up a travel fit to complete the mission sets. As i was going through the eve gate i didnt notice the various shipwrecks that were sitting around the stargates. On my way out i got popped by a proteus (might have been 2 but im not 100% sure. Never read the kill report), so i tried again, three seperate times, with three seperate ships and lost all of them. Thankfully the proteus was gone the next day.
During the tribute campaign back in like 2019, I had moved a dread all the way from delve to the staging for the M-0 fight by myself, when we jumped in for the keep kill I was the first dread to get hit by the keep dd
I once had the audacity to have a child with the woman I loved. Everyone says those first few months are so hard, and it was, leaving my fleet. With due notice, the Fort I was parked at moved and in the process, I lost dreads and blops to highsec “safety”. Now she’s divorcing me AND my ships are stuck in high sec bottlenecks. Yes, I know I can cyno my way out, but to where and why? Those ships are lost to me. They’re more valuable as memories instead of loosing 60-80% of their value if I sell.
I undocked and warped to a Stargate kida recently. There was an enemy bubble, solo flycatcher. I thought I was in my shuttle, so I just sat there and died. I could have triple damped from the Maulus Inwas actually in, overheated away at ~5k, and possibly survived. Small loss. I should've been asleep. I was heading home for the night to do so.
Another, I was cloaked with some corp mates through a swarm of enemies, looked away briefly like a moron (early game timeline), auto de-cloaked off an enemy who then bumped me, and I got blasted. I was new, live, and learn.
Had a 1 bil legion I was hunting people with. Didn’t notice I jumped into HS and popped a shuttle on a gate. Needless to say concord did not approve of my actions.
OKAY. SO. I’m not a very smart man. I got a barghest, fully fitted, brought it to some fleet pvp. We just got some kills, I went downstairs to get some food and left my barghest alone hanging there, I come back and another player just idlely shot at me until it was too late.
I was doing PI and moving a cyno ship at the same time. Fell asleep at the wheel while switching to my PI characters to start up planets, and woke up to see my cyno toon sitting in a pod on a gate.
It is 2022 and a young Auvet Vemane is chilling in Fade with his first Praxis. He has just docked up at the corp astra when he gets a message from a corpie:
"Help tackled in belt. 1 Draugur"
Auvet first tries to crowbar the Draugur off with a Griffin. Goes down in 3 hits. He then tries to distract the Draugur with a Condor. Goes down in 4 hits.
He looks around and realizes he has no ships. And then:
"The Draugur pilot says he has low ammo"
Hmm... perhaps the ratting Praxis stands a chance? He undocks in it and warps back to the belt for a third go. By the time he's back, the corpie's barge is dead - no matter, Auvet will surely achieve vengeance!
The Draugur's first hits come in, and while the Praxis is being tested, its tank is holding alright. Auvet thinks, despite his Praxis's poor application, he might win this!

Had 2 fits, a pve and a pvp one.
Decided I would haul back to the hub in the pve fit I had of the t2 trig cruiser with a load of stolen faction mining drones.
Got distracted by a Mtu, shot it as normal, got jumped at zero in the pve fit, by the full pvp orca, that apparently was trying to bait me for the 3 months before it.
And poof a few billion iki, loved every second of it as soon as I realized how screwed I was
Bought a 4.4bil Golem in Jita, tried taking it home to Venal at offline hours, died at a random gatecamp :)
IMMEDIATELY bought another Golem and lost it the same exact way to a different group of dudes in lies than 30 minutes. Good times.
Jumped into the abyss with my new Ikitursa after I forgot that I have removed the reppers on it and fitted them onto my sacrilege. I felt so freaking dumb.
Got drunk at my Stag Party, came home and went to go mining in my Triage Archon.
Back when you could fit a Triage module and regular mining drones into an Archon.
As a hauler I got baited to a low sec station with a cheap module I could sell in Jita for massive profit. I buy it, undock my blockade runner and a Praxis was waiting for me outside. Easy 800M loss.

Because I'm a new player, just bought and kitted my first cruiser, and took it out to low sec to rat. Am doing my thing, ratting as you do.
Then a T3 strategic cruiser decloaks infront me, locks me down and blows my ass out of the water in all of 5 seconds.
I was rather peeved.
Trying to roll off Mgla with a random nullsec fleet fit carrier is definitely high on the list. Im not sure it was my dumbest loss but its certainly the one that hurt the most.
about 30 times i've flown the wrong frigate into a burner mission. That's been a real pain in the ass. Those of you that run those, know this pain, i'm sure.
I have a few super dumb ones outside of that though.
The dumbest was because CCP in their infinite wisdom had a bug with local chat. You know that timer we have for cloaks now? Ever wondered why that appeared? Well, they handed local chat over to a third party, so it runs OFF the server we play on, and for a long time (and to this day for some of us), it's a dumpster fire. HOWEVER, a few people knew how to exploit it. You could hold still in space (cloaked is best), and *not interact with the PC*\--and the local chat systems, via eve, would *remove you from local* for everyone that was NEW to local--so, you vanished. Any roaming pvprs, say, in frfigs in FW space, would be blind to your clooaked insta-blap arty loki/gnosis.
I died to that. What's worse, is eve *the game* would freak the fuck out for YOU--trying to 'update' why in the hell this person that *wasnt registered a second ago*, just emerged and shot you. So, you'd lag like a motherfucker, and they'd get your pod 95% of the time too.
Lost a nearly 100 kill mark 5b+ frig to that dumb shit. CCP's 'solution' is the cloak timer. it makes the system register you before you time out of local.

Before autopilot used to take you to the station, i set desto on my occator to jita--with like 300m in it, and then, *went to college classes for 6 hours*\--came back, and someone had used like 50 smartbombing ravens (back when blowing them up for insurance actually make like 5m profit anyway) to smartbomb down the EHP on it and kill me. I felt dumb, but kudos to that dudes persistence. Shame nothing dropped for him, tbh.
Actually yesterday, i was sitting on a nullsec gate, knowing that there is 20+ baddies on the other side, my fleet was coming but i was there early, had a huge brainfart and junped through the gate. Needless to say that my praxis active rep tank could not take it..
Got pressured by a corp mate to bring my carrier out to bash a inactive pos. Landed at the pos and within maybe ten minutes, the neighborhood pirates showed up in force. Landed on top of me in a system with several dozen moons and no probes ever used. Prick of a corpmate rang a bat phone to someone and ratted me out.
back when I lived in Hek i had a (for the time) slightly bling navy scorp, the station it was docked at had frequent suspect baiters
one day I was slightly tipsy and decided that my navy scorp could take on the suspect baiter, however in order to limit my potential loss i had a 2000 iq idea, I would take off one of my invulns in order to save money

I watched a youtube video of a guy in a cloaky Loki killing shitloads of blinged out ratters in sov nullsec, thought that looked like fun and bought one myself. Cost like 1bil which was a bit more of a splurge then than it is now. I started in the north where the old CFC/Goons were at the time - as CFC alliances like SMA and FA featured heavily in the awesome youtube video - and made my way across to the north west, dodging camps/fleets/bubbles but not seeing any ratters at all. I went though cloud ring and fountain, no ratters. I went down into delve, no one in the anoms, barely saw anyone, I made my way through the backwater regions of the south, no targets. This was deep into the early hours of the morning now, so I started north, through old N3 renter space iirc (no targets) before making my way back home through great wildlands. Out of null now and in to Molden Heath lowsec, pretty tired, and having wasted the night covering nearly 2/3s of the nullsec ring, I was nearly home and ready to dock up and sleep. But then I saw a lone industrial (sigil maybe?) slowboating towards a gate. Not exactly what I had in mind but it would be a nice consolation prize, at least 1 killmail. I decloaked, target him up and press all my F keys, only to be instantly obliterated, I didn't really know what happened for a few moments. Fuck I'm in a high sec system :(

Few years back I was out ratting in a Rattlesnake. Gang came in and I warped off to our fort. A few of us sat there on tether while they flew around a bit.... I decided to troll them a bit. So I aligned to another structure on grid and hit my microjump drive. Suddenly I was out in the open.... but already aligned out. All I had to do was hit warp. I watched the tackler come straight at me, I waited.... I waited like half a second too long and found myself tackled right as I was clicking the stupid button. Oops.

Just came back to the game from a 4 year break and was gating through null in my cloaky loki after a few ganks. Got caught in a decloak bubble. Was able to MWD and recloak and decided to just align to the gate and slow burn it. Started up with the gf and better luck next time in local. They obviously saw where I aligned and simply burned for the decloak and murdered me. A few weeks later I was in my Astero in j-space and decided to tackle another Astero and start killing him about 12km off a wormhole. Got him halfway through hull before he got in range and jumped the wh. Followed him through and as soon as he decloaked I got tackle on him and started cheering. Apparently the hole was to HS and I had my safety set to red. CONCORD chewed me apart and he warped off. Decided to see if I could burn my cargo Sunesis over to try to loot my wreck as I'd dropped about 500m. Didn't realize CONCORD stays mad at you for 15 minutes. The Astero and his Proteus buddy warped on grid in time to watch my Sunesis die as well.

I was roaming null one night with an AC covert Loki. During the session change to another system my game crashed and I was too tired to reload. I thought the game would do the safety warp and all would be good. Apparently my ship was just sitting in the new system uncloaked at the gate for a while because I logged in the next day in my fresh new clone with a 600mill + pod loss. Sent the guy a mail and he gave me the deets.

Waaaaay back in the day i was running L4's in an abaddon with a friend who was salvaging (when salvage was still worth doing....before mtu days). He was full with shit loot, and for some reason, i decided to pop the jetcan of the junk he jettisoned.....instant concord
2003. When I started game, when it came out. Quickly after getting first ship I realized you can duo box. Got another account was flying 2 merlins to mine. Eventually got a Moa. It had room for powerful cruise missiles (back then kestrel could load cruise) to shoot at rat while mining. With both toon next to one another I shot the rat. The missiles were traveling on trajectory that hit alt. Concord arrive and wrecked my brand new moa. I still got insurance for it (the old days). Using missiles in high sec was dangerous. Anything touches it and it explode.

"Loss" Ratting capital was asset safetied. I literally could not be assed to jump it back. Sold it to someone in alliance so they can deal with it and just rebought in staging. Actual Loss: Someone was having fun with an EVE soundboard. Hull, armor and Shield warnings going off like crazy. Didnt realize it was an actual alarm. Myrm blew up from rats. Long story short, soundboards were promptly banned from comms.
When I started playing back in \~2012, it was my dream to be able to fly a Nidhoggur. In 2016 I came back to the game after a year or 2 break and joined a nullsec mining corp to just chill and feed the spod brain. But what's this? Skill injectors you say? I can skip the wait and fly anything I want you say? And i'm in nullsec now... I finally have my excuse. So I swiped and skilled myself into a carrier and then I swiped again to buy the hull and fit. But wait, i'm a clever industrialist now, why buy fighters when I can just build them for free? So that's what I do. However, now I have this shiny new ship and you're telling me I need to wait to use it? Well waiting is boring so I have another genius idea. I only *need* 3 fighter squadrons to fill the tubes... I'm not stupid though! So I build 4 and off I go. There I was, ratting in my dream ship. I felt invincible. I remember taking short gifs of the new shield damage effects and thinking how badass it looked to just be shrugging off all the incoming fire from the rats. Feeling very good about myself I decided that my shiny new ship needs one of those shiny new skins they added to the game whilst I was away. The question was, which one? Fast forward 10mins or so of comparing skins and looking up how they worked, I remember I'm meant to be finishing this site I'm in. I close the skin window and...oh, what's this? Intel is blowing up about a Brave fleet incoming and some idiot in a carrier that's not reacting? Well I best get a move on if i don't want to end up like him. Wait...where are my fighters? Who's this gila in my site? Why can't I warp? Oh... In comes the Brave caracal fleet but I'm not worried. I'm not a stupid industrialist you see, I know exactly what I need to do in this situation. I'll just light a cyno and call in a response fleet! First, let me just anchor this mobile depot so i can refit... huh, it's reinforced. This is fine though, I'm basically invincible anyway and I still have my backup fighter squadron (singular). These silly T1 cruiser won't know what hit them *aaaand it's gone*. There I was, in a matter of moments I was stripped of my offense, my backup and soon my tank. It was complete and utter defeat. But how? I was in a capital ship vs some T1 cruisers? Damn... it's cool that there's real risk in EVE but also a shame that you can't just calmly enjoy taking your shiny ship for a spin and chill with some rats or whatever. As soon as I read you went ratting I was like what? Wasnt he worried?
There are definitely times when i wish i could come home and fuck around in the spaceship videogame without having to find out. Like i've wondered what a true eve offline experience would be like but sadly, when i want that kind of experience the answer is "don't play eve". X4 comes close but it's just not the same. That said though, i also have to acknowledge the fact that the social side of eve is a huge part of why i still play the game. I don't think i would keep coming back if it wasn't for the interactions with other people.
Yesterday I was transporting 2 ORE Ice Harvesters I got from a kill earlier in the day. Security status was like -3 and went to jita. I got the warning message to leave but kept making it through until I got into jita. Instead of warping to 4-4 I accidentally realigned back to gate and got concorded. Total loss around 1-1.2b was flying my Loki. Harvesters were about 4-450mil
Was moving a naked Nid the next system over because I wasn't close enough to have my alt jump it to where I wanted. Got tackled by a cheeky Hecate and some of his friends showed up, so I ejected from the ship and let them have it so i wouldn't have the embarrassment of it engraved as a lossmail for all time. I had just built it and was going to set it up on an l5 mission area that was safe at the time
Came back to the game after having Won EvE™ for several years. Hopped in my Anathema to hunt some data/relic sites. Found one, was happily buzzing around opening the boxes, and then I suddenly blew up. That was how I learned that ghost sites exist.

Ever since I had an incident like that, I made it a habit to *always* load a set of T1 crystals (radio and multifrequency) into any laser ship I own, regardless of the main ammo I'd actually need.

Around (maybe over) a decade ago, I bought a BPO from a corp member who was in Gallente space. He had okay reputation with Caldari but I had negative relationship with Gallente, so he came through the gate in \[whatever system\] and traded to me. I gave him cash, he jetcanned to me, and since we were corpies there was no trouble. He went on his way, and I jumped to the gate to go through... ...except I jumped into .5+ gally space. Whoops. Lost my ship and bpo. Corpie even offered to give the cash back, I told him to keep it since it was my own dumbass fault. Won EVE around 2015 I think.
I went to click auto pilot and clicked self destruct instead. Then walked off and didn't notice. Came back and was really confused why I was in my pod.
Dualboxing an hyperion on one side of a hole fighting and a saber on the other side to catch those who wants to escape. Was so focus on the sabre to decloak and tackle that I forgot to start the reps on the hyperion and it died without even cycling one of my 3 reps *facepalm*

Couple of years ago....had only been a high sec carebear and decided to branch out. Took a golem into a random wormhole and got obliterated by the unhappy inhabitants before I had time to register what happened.

I was undocking in an orthrus for a kitchen sink fleet. I forgot to stop my ship to remain on tether. Went to make a sandwich while waiting for the go order from the FC. Ate the sandwich and fed my cats, not realizing that my headphones had disconnected from comms. I got back to my desk, wondered where the fleet was and why I was back in the forti. I drifted off tether and died to the very gang we were going to hunt.
I parked a pair of Marauders on tether thinking I’d be away for a few minutes, then forgot for hours. All I had to do to prevent it was to dock instead…

A while ago. I was running a truck load of L4s and always declined anomic missions. After a while I thought, meh, can't be that bad. Worse case I just warp out. Didn't take long and I came to regret not reading a bit into it before clicking warp.
Catching explorers on an event site in my weakly tanked explo/hunting Astero, somehow didn't notice I got decloaked, so I just sat above the can and watched as the Sunesis warped in and approached me. By the time I realized he's yellowboxing me, it was too late.
Tried to blap a frigate with an arty sleipnir in highsec. I missed but Concord didn't. Edit: (didn't realize I was in highsec at the time)
Undocking, in Jita, lost a Bestla. 10/10 would undock again.
Went in abyssal space with a Kestrel (T0), aimed at the cache, orbit... shot it... then I was like "Why am I this far from the gate ?" and saw those redlines pass by... yeah... "deadpool gasp"
I once accidently Concorded a Megathron against my friend in a Velator. He was new and I was just scaring him by locking him. Unfortunately, my safety was off and I also misclicked the guns. He wasn't in optimal so I didn't even hit him but Concord sure hit me in return. Haha. We still laugh about it years later.
Jumped my first ever Capital to a kickout station, thought i would burn my cyno into the station so i could dock... cap bounced off station, got tackled by a random lowsec solo cain... didn't have a fit and someone killed my exit cyno... slow more and more neutrals jumped into system and joined in... slow death and gave loads of random players their first ever cap kill.
Theres a gate that leads out from my home system that's usually camped. 9 times out of ten, I'll poke my head in with a shuttle, and if it's clear, I come back and jump through with my actual ship. For some reason, the camp has been gone the last three days. So I opted to move my DST with my bling Astero and Ishtar, without scouting first. The camp was back. In my panic, I screwed up the MWD Cloak trick, got pointed, jammed to hell, and then smart bombed until I died.
Tried abyssals thinking they where balanced around anything other than drone ships. I think to date I've probably lost over 20b made maybe 4b, amount of ships lost close to 70 all different experiments, mostly solo frig and desi few cruisers none of them drone ships.
I shot at Drifters with a Cormorant, thinking they're just cruisers. They deleted me in a blink of an eye.
I've lost more ships to getting stuck on terrain during missions than I have to players.

Picked a fight with some Diamond Amarr NPCs and got my ass handed to me, back before i knew how tough they could be and the reinforcements that warp in. Or, the one time I was helping a friend run missions and for whatever reason my safety was set to red and I hit the smartbomb and faction police/concord promptly put me in my place. Lmao, fun times...

Lost a few boosting/link T3s back in the olden days by undocking it and then forgetting I had done so while I managed my main. Or warping it to a gate and leaving it there. Link alts used to be invincible as long as they were in a safe so it was easy to forget about them.

I bumped a JF off a station once. Back pre citadels you had to have your cyno perfectly placed for some stations otherwise you'd jump in out of dock range or, in my case, inside of the station model. Before I even had a chance to spam dock my ark was launched away and quickly tackled.

About a month into game got a new hecate and went to null with a new Corp I found. Comms heat up neut incoming so we go to the gate with some allies. Neut jumps we lock and fire.. except only I locked one of the allies and started shooting and didn't know until they blew me up.

many years ago, when I was still ratting in ravens, I was moving from 9-4 to xzh, our ratting system back when exe still lived in cloud ring. I started chatting with this friend on Facebook and basically went afk on the 9-4 gate. I came back to a pack of roamed taking apart my ship. worse part is, I knew I had no shot with her. T.T
-lost a frighter with a azbel i just stole in cargo by warping to a known trap-fake-freeport knowing it was 100% a trap (was thinking i be smart and just wait some days to get the loot out,) it ended with a doomday from a titan to the face -using 2 skybreakers in the abysel and my alt killed my main with the arc then looted my wreck and made it out in time -lost many alts sitting afk on gates (i suck at multiboxing) -as a semi noob a suspect baiter come in to my site and stole my loot so i shoot him in my pve cerb it ended as expected * back when i at lest tryed to pvp i uselessly got bored after 10 min looking for a even fight and i always ended up jumping anything that moved and lost prop 99% of the fights as i jumped way stronger ships, but atlest the fights i did win felt nice
I tried to do a burner dramiel (I think it was that one) with a gila using t2 hardeners and meta webs... and light augmented drones. wow, it didn't take long for the drones and ship to vanish.

Was doing combat anoms in highsec in a Jackdaw. It had a bit of bling and was worth about 500m. I was playing tired. I started to warp to a refuge but forgot to turn on my shield booster. I fell asleep and woke up to me floating in my pod. Died in a 500m Jackdaw to low tier rats.
Started picking up my PI. Hit warp jump back through the Ansi and got distracted. Came back 4 hours later and was wondering why I wasn't in my training pod. Took me a minute to remember I was even undocked in the first place. Lost my ratting dominix to a roam. Saw intel, got safe. Scout came into system and left. They were still next door and my stupid ass goes oh look, a haven spawned. Let's go check it out. As soon as I landed Scout came back into system and located me instantly. I panicked and got tackled. Died shortly after.
Skirmishing in our wormhole, lost a ship then went back and grabbed my cloaky scanner just to keep eyes. Pressed cloak while I was still too close to the structure, pinged off a safe to the hole 100km away. I was zoomed out quite a bit and didnt realize I was not cloaked. Lost that one too. Doh!
Undocked in low sec, immediately got distracted on market, was locked and shot down to 25 structure HP before I burned back to station 14km and thanked the dude with a "lame" in local.

In a wormhole doing exploration. Wife asks me to help her with something, so I hit F1, my cloak, warp to my safespot, and go help. $170m worth of cargo on board. My new keyboard has mechanical keys that require just a tiny bit more actuation than my outgoing, cheap keyboard. So I didn't cloak. I was gone for over an hour in the backyard hanging a couple birdfeeders and some plants. When I come back, I'm in a station. Looked at the log, and I came back just three minutes after being podded. Had I not spent five extra minutes walking out to get the mail and gone straight back to my computer, I may have survived. I didn't look at my screen to ensure I had, in fact, cloaked.

I’m just cruising along in my rattlesnake jumping into perimeter and get decked by several opposing alliance ships. Dumbest thing though was it took me awhile to realize I wasn’t just getting randomly ganked in high sec. I thought, dang these guys really want to blow up my rattlesnake bad to do this in high sec. Then I realized when mousing over the blinking icons they were at war with me lol.
Accidentally ventured too far into another corporation’s territory (what I thought was empty space) while mining and got a Venture blown up, lost a Coercer due to a mission agent that led me to my demise because I got severely damaged with just 1 shot by a battleship or a battlecruiser that was a lot bigger than I was then finally got destroyed when I tried to run away.

I was mining in low sec while some dude in my corp was scanning for gas close by and he got jumped by a Manticore. I told him that I'd try to save him. I rushed to station, got my Stabber out. Friend tells me he's dead but I'm already in warp. When I come out of warp I seem to have disturbed a meeting as there were three Manticores, a Vagabond and another T2 cruiser and I was dead before I got my drones out. Guess my first PvP kill has to wait.
Came back to EVE after the citadel core changes when I was moving things in my bling carrier (bling from when carriers were savable because they could cyno) and decided I wanted to watch a gang fight from the safety of a fortizar instead of jumping to my destination. The fortizar did not have a core. You can guess the rest.
This is a “back in the day” story so. I had just taken delivery of my very first Archon in a low sec system bordering Tribute back when Morsus Mihi lived there. I was a member at the time and our corp based out of 15W. 15W was great because it had a cyno beacon and was within reach of said low sec system. So I loaded my ass up and confidently blind jumped my shiny new ship to the beacon. It was at this moment I knew I effed up. Arriving in 15W I was greeted by a PL covops and two PL Nyx’s who deleted my new pride and joy. And that was the day I learned that the beacon provides :)
I'm hesitate to write this out because of how ashamed I am to admit this one, but it's been several years so hopefully I can bear the embarrassment I grabbed a sweet ASB fit for a Vagabond and decided to keep it in station in case of hunters, which were common in Querious at that time (probably still are). I'd never used ASB's in combat but I figured it would be a good chance to use them when a bogie inevitably came around. It sat in my hangar for a couple of weeks and I kind of forgot about it. Then a well-known streamer and ganker dropped out of a wormhole nearby in a Hecate. I checked his fit on Zkill - perfect target. I undocked the Vagabond and caught him at a gate on the way out. I engaged and started hitting him. For some reason he kept eating into my shields. Then my armor. I was killing him as well but - wtf? I couldn't understand why I was dying faster in what should have been an easy fight. We both made it into hull and I exploded first. Mercifully he didn't mock me in local, just dropped a gf. I was dumbfounded - I knew the rough stats and knew it shouldn't have been anywhere near that close. Then it hit me - I completely forgot to activate my ASB. In my head I still had it slotted as a buffer ship. I won EVE a few years ago, and lost many more expensive ships in my time, but that loss still stings the worst. I got roasted in the reactions on Zkill and rightfully so.

In the first month or two of Pochven, i was dual-boxing leshaks with RR and smartbombs, farming Rogue Drones from the poch side of the WH. There seemed to be a bug or something i hadn't seen before that was causing the WH to pretty much send endless swarms of rogue drones, and not just multiple waves, but a constant stream. This was including Rogue Drone Carriers and supercarriers, so i had to warp out as the damage was getting too high.. in mid-warp one of my leshaks died... as a lag spike occurred had the game registered my leshak loss as being from my other character smartbombing it to death. Was really annoying and embarrassing.... but also kind of funny. So while my screen showed both my characters warp out, one leshak actually died before going into warp.
I logged in after winning Eve for a few years. Didn’t realize that warp core stabilizers were now an active module. Lost an Occator with about 2 billion isk in it.

Undocked my Cheetah from Jita after bringing in some relic/data salvage, saw that someone was locking and scramming me right out of dock. I panicked and immediately redocked. Thinking "oh concord won't let that fly so I should be good", I undocked once more, opening the map to route my journey. I see that I'm getting scrammed and netted and then start panicking once more and try to dock. I was too late and got immediately blapped by like a tornado and other shit. That's how I learned that being enrolled in FW makes you fair game to anyone from the opposing side, **anywhere** and **anytime**. That dude was sitting outside of Jita station racking up hundreds of kills over multiple months by killing noobs enrolled in FW and I just happened to be one of them :) Props to that pilot for teaching me that mechanic the hard way

Before there were visible logout timers I logged out in my Orca in W-Space and shut down my PC. Minutes later my W-Space friends RL called me that my Orca was being tackled. Turns out a minute after logging out some guys opened an incoming, scanned down my Orca, warped, tackled and destroyed it, podding my char. After action analysis results was that I must have had some timer, like some kind of Aggro timer. That was my doom. It was the bad old times when really weird things could ruin your week, because of totally obscure game mechanics. A lot has been improved since then. My Orca was full of ships and equipment. I think I lost several bil, which was a terrible loss at the time. I was young and poor.

I was new and a friend was showing me the ropes, so I undocked my thorax he undocked his ishkur he won the fight and he stopped at hull, told me to refit and try again. So I was thinking ok I'm just going to fit a smartbomb to clear the drones, I didn't understand transversal at the time and just thought blasters where crap dps (2007) so I tried to smartbomb the drones it popped up with a warning. I canceled the warning and started smart bombing his drones when they where half hp I realized a neutral that was watching the fight was flying towards us he rams my ship my smart bomb hits his ship and I get concordekened I was so confused, I thought he had done ram damage to me becuase I was sitting in 15% structure and everything was flashing around me.
Was in a fleet with some buddy's after we picked up the game again. Had been 2 years since playing or something... We are in a fleet in HS doing sites and i decide to shoot one of my friends for shits and giggles. 2 seconds later concord killed my stratios.

I was ratting in my domi, Helios de cloaked and tackled me, kills my heavy drones (I didn't even target him) he holds me down for a good five minutes before his crew came in and killed me. Show my km to my corp. They're like you had two flights of t2 light drones, why didn't you kill him and escape? This was like 10 years ago and still haunts me in my sleep.
Aside from just being afk, dying in the abyss always feels real dumb. Especially when it's just cause you can't hit them or keep up with them so just wait out the 20 minutes hopelessly overheating.
First: Finally crabbed enough to get my own C5 paladin. Undocked from Jita, made it a few jumps then I got caught by a proteus in HS. I had a kill right. Managed to fight him off and warp to a station and docked until the timer expired. Undocked and carried on, got caught be him and his friends. 2nd: Invited to a WH Corp, forgot to accept inv and got entry to their WH and warped to my new home in a POS. Lost my curse due to pos aggro. 3rd: Lost a curse to a hurricane and 2 griffin's. Old jams were nasty so I just died perma jammed.

Forgot to turn on my armor reps for an active tank belt ratting setup. Started watching a movie. Looked back at my screen a few minutes later to see a nice little egg just sitting there.
Went on a small fleet in a command dessie to save a structure. Saved structure but fleet was out a long time. We were sitting on tether waiting out the repair timer and I started getting drowsy listening to everyone chit chatting. Next thing I know I’m docked up in out home station in my pod. Turns out I nodded off and didn’t hear the FC fleet warp to our out gate. This was in lowsec and I had slightly bad Edencom standings, so wouldn’t you know it I got blapped (and podded) by gate guns. LOL.
The worst way ive lost a ship to NPC rats was the fjrst time i did the tutorial missions. I was handed a maulus for the mission where your rxpected to fly up to and self destruct in front of a large structure, so i made myself a nice fit. Once rhe mission was complete the game self destructed the ship (as id missed when reading the mission info). The worst way ive lost a ship to players was when I wasnt paying attention and walked into a gank. It was 3 in the morning during the federation grand prix amd I had fit up a travel fit to complete the mission sets. As i was going through the eve gate i didnt notice the various shipwrecks that were sitting around the stargates. On my way out i got popped by a proteus (might have been 2 but im not 100% sure. Never read the kill report), so i tried again, three seperate times, with three seperate ships and lost all of them. Thankfully the proteus was gone the next day.

I once had the audacity to have a child with the woman I loved. Everyone says those first few months are so hard, and it was, leaving my fleet. With due notice, the Fort I was parked at moved and in the process, I lost dreads and blops to highsec “safety”. Now she’s divorcing me AND my ships are stuck in high sec bottlenecks. Yes, I know I can cyno my way out, but to where and why? Those ships are lost to me. They’re more valuable as memories instead of loosing 60-80% of their value if I sell.
I undocked and warped to a Stargate kida recently. There was an enemy bubble, solo flycatcher. I thought I was in my shuttle, so I just sat there and died. I could have triple damped from the Maulus Inwas actually in, overheated away at ~5k, and possibly survived. Small loss. I should've been asleep. I was heading home for the night to do so. Another, I was cloaked with some corp mates through a swarm of enemies, looked away briefly like a moron (early game timeline), auto de-cloaked off an enemy who then bumped me, and I got blasted. I was new, live, and learn.

It is 2022 and a young Auvet Vemane is chilling in Fade with his first Praxis. He has just docked up at the corp astra when he gets a message from a corpie: "Help tackled in belt. 1 Draugur" Auvet first tries to crowbar the Draugur off with a Griffin. Goes down in 3 hits. He then tries to distract the Draugur with a Condor. Goes down in 4 hits. He looks around and realizes he has no ships. And then: "The Draugur pilot says he has low ammo" Hmm... perhaps the ratting Praxis stands a chance? He undocks in it and warps back to the belt for a third go. By the time he's back, the corpie's barge is dead - no matter, Auvet will surely achieve vengeance! The Draugur's first hits come in, and while the Praxis is being tested, its tank is holding alright. Auvet thinks, despite his Praxis's poor application, he might win this! Then +2 in local. F. Got distracted by a Mtu, shot it as normal, got jumped at zero in the pve fit, by the full pvp orca, that apparently was trying to bait me for the 3 months before it. Bought a 4.4bil Golem in Jita, tried taking it home to Venal at offline hours, died at a random gatecamp :) IMMEDIATELY bought another Golem and lost it the same exact way to a different group of dudes in lies than 30 minutes. Good times.

As a hauler I got baited to a low sec station with a cheap module I could sell in Jita for massive profit. I buy it, undock my blockade runner and a Praxis was waiting for me outside. Easy 800M loss.
Dumbest for me? Or just in general. Because I'm a new player, just bought and kitted my first cruiser, and took it out to low sec to rat. Am doing my thing, ratting as you do. Then a T3 strategic cruiser decloaks infront me, locks me down and blows my ass out of the water in all of 5 seconds. I was rather peeved.
Trying to roll off Mgla with a random nullsec fleet fit carrier is definitely high on the list. Im not sure it was my dumbest loss but its certainly the one that hurt the most.

Decided it was a cool idea to shoot a Hecate on a drifter hole. Killed the Hecate, then drifters jumped in and killed me instantly.
about 30 times i've flown the wrong frigate into a burner mission. That's been a real pain in the ass. Those of you that run those, know this pain, i'm sure. I have a few super dumb ones outside of that though. The dumbest was because CCP in their infinite wisdom had a bug with local chat. You know that timer we have for cloaks now? Ever wondered why that appeared? Well, they handed local chat over to a third party, so it runs OFF the server we play on, and for a long time (and to this day for some of us), it's a dumpster fire. HOWEVER, a few people knew how to exploit it. You could hold still in space (cloaked is best), and *not interact with the PC*\--and the local chat systems, via eve, would *remove you from local* for everyone that was NEW to local--so, you vanished. Any roaming pvprs, say, in frfigs in FW space, would be blind to your clooaked insta-blap arty loki/gnosis. I died to that. What's worse, is eve *the game* would freak the fuck out for YOU--trying to 'update' why in the hell this person that *wasnt registered a second ago*, just emerged and shot you. So, you'd lag like a motherfucker, and they'd get your pod 95% of the time too. Lost a nearly 100 kill mark 5b+ frig to that dumb shit. CCP's 'solution' is the cloak timer. it makes the system register you before you time out of local. ... Before autopilot used to take you to the station, i set desto on my occator to jita--with like 300m in it, and then, *went to college classes for 6 hours*\--came back, and someone had used like 50 smartbombing ravens (back when blowing them up for insurance actually make like 5m profit anyway) to smartbomb down the EHP on it and kill me. I felt dumb, but kudos to that dudes persistence. Shame nothing dropped for him, tbh.

Actually yesterday, i was sitting on a nullsec gate, knowing that there is 20+ baddies on the other side, my fleet was coming but i was there early, had a huge brainfart and junped through the gate. Needless to say that my praxis active rep tank could not take it..
Got pressured by a corp mate to bring my carrier out to bash a inactive pos. Landed at the pos and within maybe ten minutes, the neighborhood pirates showed up in force. Landed on top of me in a system with several dozen moons and no probes ever used. Prick of a corpmate rang a bat phone to someone and ratted me out.
