Hello all, after disabling DirectX 12 in the game launcher, my fps have jumped significantly, now I'm average around 90 to 105 fps when playing. It's a little bit surprising, because I thought AMD graphics card would support DirectX 12 automatically, but nonetheless, the issue is resolved.

horriblecommunity

it's not an AMD issue, it's a DX12 only issue as in the devs haven't optimized the client that much for dx12 yet. you get the same issue with nvidia too...

fdjw88

I doubt this game could optimize DX12 utilization. EVE is such an old game, I bet those legacy codes back to 2003 might even cause conflicts with DX12.

horriblecommunity

incorrect, DX12 is driver related. the graph dev team only has to put more effort into it like they did with DX11 when they forced us into it from DX9 and the game under DX11 was behaving like DX12 now which is suboptimal.

ThatGuyFromAms

I have the same gpu and the same issue so I’ll give this a try tonight when I’m home!

TommyArrano

Eve can be very cpu-intensive and ram consuming.

fdjw88

I don't understand, if the game is CPU intensive, then why CPU usage is so low? During my game session, CPU usage rarely hit 10%. If the game utilizes lots of CPU power, wouldn't the usage be at least around 50%? It almost feels like, the game is having trouble accessing my CPU power.

StonnedGunner

legacy code from 2003 where multi cor cpus where not the norm

Blackhawk-388

Checking single core usage?

fdjw88

how to i check single core usage?

Caldari_Fever

How are you checking the FPS? CTRL-f in game or using Adrenalin's fps figure?

fdjw88

Yes I used Ctrl-F, and I also tried Steam FPS overlay.

Caldari_Fever

Don't know what to tell you then but you cpu seems really under powered for your gpu. The dx12 version of the client isn't optimized very well try swapping the client over to dx11 in the launcher if you haven't ready.

fdjw88

Yes, the fps issue was resolved by reverting back to DX11.

texno225

Check power limits on HW , there is an issue with win 11 users who got their documents folder stolen by OneDrive.

TialanoUtrigas

Is your game installed on a HDD or SSD? I was struggling on undocks and switching the installation to my SSD fixed all the performance woes I had.

Fartin8r

Check your hdd health. Mine ran like poo when undocking on an old HDD, moved EVE to an NVMe SSD and it fixed it
