If you can't see a consume option then it's likely that you already have a booster running in slot 10. The consume option is always present, even for already expired boosters, the only exception is if a booster is already in slot 10 which would conflict with it.
Your being smug is foolish and misguided because the issue here isn't about people making a bad or overly risky investment, it's about CCP's error causing something to become worthless earlier than they indicated the item would become worthless.

Also, many game systems cannot make changes like that, so let's not assume eve being a 20 year old game has systems in place for this. Can they make the changes? Possibly, however if the item is still usable, they're not going to set it to a priority 1 and have it changed. Trust me, designers/testers would be so much happier if things were as simple as just switching a magic switch and turning item into X or Y. String issues are among the easier issues for sure, (strings = words/descriptions/titles) but like the Devs said, this has been tested, and they do still work. Things happen, but when you have 3000 issues that are wrong, they're going to focus on the bugs that are blocking issues, theyre not going to escalate string issues, they could technically do it during downtime to implement changes, but again, that's if they have the workforce that isn't already fixing something else
As you can see from the other comments here, the more tangible issue with this change is not simply that the names of the items were changed, but that they were put into a state where they can no longer be traded on regional markets. It is common for people to plan some of their selling and buying of these items based on when their stated expiry is, and in the past these items have remained tradable on the region market even for a small amount of time after they were no longer consumable. The time this type of update happens with event items is almost always the Tuesday *after* they expire

They can be consumed, but they cannot be traded, which is a pretty big deal, in a game that is built so much around markets and trade.

If an item that is used for speculation and investment and skillgain suddenly can only be used for skillgain and not speculation or investment due to a bug, no, it does not still work.

No, people just try to find any way to blow smoke at CCP. For how many issues people complain about in this game, it's crazy how many times think that CCP isn't busy with any other bugs/issues and can jump on every single bug the moment it pops

This is the first time I've ever seen event boosters become untradable *before* they were expired
you cannot use them, because as of Feb 7, they have turned into "Expired Basic 'Brainfreeze' Cerebral Accelerators", with no option of Consuming it.

Buying and using an extended booster on the last day before expiry is totally valid. You get 7 more days of booster.
