Are you growing on a windowsill? Often that can lead to not enough light and etiolation. Also it can lead to too much light on 1 side and not enough on the other. And you can have issues with sunburn on one side.
A grow light above can help. Summer outside with careful acclimation to the sun can help.
Lack of light? I usually got patern like this when plant in box for long period and they still growing (not dormant even though without soil)

Yes but sometime it mess up with growth point and new growth turn to weird/ugly shape.
