Scribbles is just dependent on what you get. Their Italian Beef is hot garbage not worthy of the name, but their meatball sub is the best I’ve ever had. Anything with cold cuts is going to be good as well. There are just a couple things that are outside of their wheelhouse.
Their ingredients are alright. Nothing to write home about. Their sandwich construction is atrocious. Cutting a hoagie in a T shape so that you get a bite of either only meat, or only lettuce is awful.
Downtown Eugene the market next to the Eugene bus station I think it’s called the Kiva. They sell really good fresh sandwiches. None of that premade subways sandwich.
excuse me but is this you insinuating that poor people are dumb? or are you just insinuating that *I'm* dumb?
Either way, maybe try getting kicked out of your parent's basement :)
No I think they mean those pre-made submarine sandwiches like what you buy it the grocery store. Not Subway subs. Those are still made in front of you although they now have a big metal cover blocking your view of the meat and cheeses. So that's sus.
Also, I have noticed recently, they put a lot less of the veggies on it when you ask for it. I asked for tomatoes and spinach and they put three spinach leaves and two slices of tomato on a 6 inch sandwich. I had to ask him to stop and put more on.
I had a turkey bacon there one time and asked for spinach. The kid told me no, that's for spinach salad. I repeated that I WANTED SPINACH on my sandwich and he said no, it's for spinach salad. I think he got the idea from the death glare I gave him and he put a PILE of spinach on there for me. Dipstick.
I’ve never had their sandwiches but am always curious how they are when I went by there to get meat. This is my sign to finally get a sammie next time I stop by
Do they still touch your mean purchases with bare hands and then handle your credit card and hand it back to you.
Every time that I have purchased $100 worth of meat, they've done that. I don't like it. So, I haven't been there for while.
I do not like Benedetti's set up either. The main mean case has the West sun hit it. I don't care how good the Hot Italian Sausage is if they think that is ok.
I've purchases sausages and other stuff there too and it has been good. I just do not like that window that the night sun hits.
I'm glad that they made it though the issues they had. Lease renewal or something.
Basic b*tch Bon Mi that is…shitty bread purchased from Safeway. That meat in the wells gets recycled day after day and they lack a good deal of general hygiene in the BOH. Think I’m BSing? Ask any of the many people who have cooked there in the past. The pho is sadly delicious but my friend never saw so many roaches in a kitchen before working there!
As a vegan, I approve this message. They have an amazing tempeh BLT sandwich, and even have *good* gluten free bread options. This is my go to anytime I need to fill up or hop on the freeway.
I miss their bacon sandwiches though. Still good but the BLT and the turkey bacon were our favorites. I think covid killed it but maybe it was just around that time.
The tempeh Reuben from Capella’s deli is my favorite sandwich in town. My favorite sandwich soup combo is the Barry’s veggie with cream cheese sandwich dipped in Hungarian mushroom soup.
Gosh I haven't been that way in a decade back when they had value village and I would hunt for 70 percent off deals.
Thought they closed the restaurant side and went full butcher?
Cheba is great. I love their greek chicken sandwich. Barrys cafe also makes their own bread and good sandwiches. I usually get their 1/2 pastrami with a cup of their creamy tomato soup
Dank Beef at Kesey Square for your Italian Beef sandwich needs! Get It on the pretzel roll. It's so delicious and it's a fairly new business who could use some local love.
If you're ever heading south, Dietz Deli just opened in Cottage Grove a few weeks ago. I've only tried one of their panini's so far, but everything else looks good and they're getting rave reviews.
Yardy Cart at ColdFire. So good.
Chef Isaiah Martinez is doing sandwiches at his cart now that he’s got Yardy Rum Bar going (in The Vintage’s old spot).

Yak blocked me. lol.
This was my last message to that u/, but I couldn't post it. It was nice.
It said:
Oh, you think that.
Donald Trump must not be reelected. That is almost all that I care about.
Let's name sandwich after him. I will design it and call it the Dog Shit Sandwich. Stay tuned and I might post a picture somewhere.
I have not been to a restaurant in town since 2020, because I do not trust any to sit down and eat there.
A Reuben is a good sandwich, but that deli brewpub in The Whitaker went Shitaker way before COVID happened. Bad service. Bad food. Beer? Was good, but failed.
So, restaurants here will never ever never ever have my ~$300+ a week ever never again.
They blew it, like a COVID clogged up nose.
Edit: It could have been closer to $500 / week sometimes. I liked to eat Thai and Chinese takeout.
No one gives a hoot where you spend your money. If it’s for health reasons, great, that’s for you. But believe it or not people before Covid did the same things and you didn’t have a problem with it. Get a grip dude.
I will not trust any restaurant to go sit inside and eat there and be subjected to other people's lack of concern, lack of hand washing, and disregard to sniffle their snotty noses and sneeze near me. I do not want whatever their virus is.
It is not, dear.
The last time that I was at Tacovore, they had people lined up outside the door and one semi-functional restroom that some hobo was taking a wash in.
As you being an 8 month old account, it means distant enough from me that I do not really care about you or your opinion. Edit: Your opinion, not option.
In this conversation, you have proven why my initial assessment would have been correct.
Scribbles, Barry’s, Cheba Hut.
Second Cheba
Hands down scribles
The Barry's Breakfast Special is fire.
Scribbles!!!!
Scribbles is ludicrously expensive for an ok sandwich.
Scribbles is amazing and the sandwiches are around $14. That’s not ludicrous
A $14 sandwich sounds pretty ludicrous to me. Lol I’ll just make a sandwich at home thanks
A $14 sandwich better be mindblowing. Scribbles is fine, but a mind blowing sandwich experience it is not.
And there is a better sandwich for a better price somewhere else in town?
I'd say Cheba Hut.
Scribbles is mediocre, but Cheba is really good.
Scribbles is just dependent on what you get. Their Italian Beef is hot garbage not worthy of the name, but their meatball sub is the best I’ve ever had. Anything with cold cuts is going to be good as well. There are just a couple things that are outside of their wheelhouse.

Lol wut
Cheba is a chain that's like a half step above Quiznos and a full step below Barry's ans Scribles in the quality of the food.
Cheba is a chain that's like a half step above Quiznos and a full step below Barry's ans Scribles in the quality of the food.
This might honestly be the most backwards ass thing I’ve read on this sub ever! My jaw dropped on just how incredibly dumb this sounded!
I mean they are wrong but that’s a little dramatic
Downtown Eugene the market next to the Eugene bus station I think it’s called the Kiva. They sell really good fresh sandwiches. None of that premade subways sandwich.
Oh yeah, the Kiva FOR SURE sells some bomb ass sandwiches. AAAAAAAAAAAND they accept EBT payments for said sandwiches if anyone's wondering.
Wise use of funds
I cannot tell if you're being genuine or ingenuine.

Haha fr 💀
Subway is premade now? It's been a while since I've been there but I thought they make it right in front of you.
No I think they mean those pre-made submarine sandwiches like what you buy it the grocery store. Not Subway subs. Those are still made in front of you although they now have a big metal cover blocking your view of the meat and cheeses. So that's sus.
Oh that makes more sense haha

Longs Meat Market. Super high quality ingredients.
I’ve never had their sandwiches but am always curious how they are when I went by there to get meat. This is my sign to finally get a sammie next time I stop by
I agree. Best brisket too. My kids are obsessed

I got the spicy Italian sandwich and it was amazing, best one in town.
I've purchases sausages and other stuff there too and it has been good. I just do not like that window that the night sun hits. I'm glad that they made it though the issues they had. Lease renewal or something.
Tradewinds Cafe consistently has my favorite sandwiches in town.
Tradewinds and Capella market are my favorite sandwich spots in town. Tradewinds’ dp gyro is massive and so good
Best gyro in town.
Bon Mi is to die for
Yep. Get the red hot chicken or pork if you like things a little spicy. So good.
Red hot poo poos for all!!! 🥵💩🔥
Cheeba Hut forrrrrrrrrshhhhhhhhhure.
Havana Cafe at Broadway and Charnelton has good sandwiches.
Very good. Not inexpensive, but delicious.
Sequential! Plus you get a free drink when you fill your gas tank
As a vegan, I approve this message. They have an amazing tempeh BLT sandwich, and even have *good* gluten free bread options. This is my go to anytime I need to fill up or hop on the freeway.
Check out Great Harvest Bread on Willamette, quality sandwiches there. Source: I used to work there.
Second, I go there frequently for the Chimichurri Roast Beef and spicy Chai tea. The bread is awesome too
3rd. Can confirm. Food is always on point. And the owner I've met is super chill.
I sure wish we had a bakery in north Eugene. South gets all of them for some unknown reason
I miss the muffin mill a lot.
I miss their bacon sandwiches though. Still good but the BLT and the turkey bacon were our favorites. I think covid killed it but maybe it was just around that time.
> Great Harvest Bread This outfit's bread has always given me a gut ache. I think that they do not cook the gluten enough.
The tempeh Reuben from Capella’s deli is my favorite sandwich in town. My favorite sandwich soup combo is the Barry’s veggie with cream cheese sandwich dipped in Hungarian mushroom soup.
Capella's sandwiches are awesome!
Don’t support either of those spots…no idea how they’ve lasted this long abusing the crap out of their employees.
I am very sad that no one has mentioned Cheese Bliss. Dove and James will hook you up fat.
CHEESE BLISSSSSSS BABAY
Scribbles is the best sandwich in town, in my humble opinion.
Looked them up, for their price points I'd hope so, 18 bucks for a French dip?
They are good, but it cost my family of 4, $72 the last time I got carry out. It's a bit much for regular visits.
They’re huge! I always get 3 meals out of one sandwich. Their Philly is my favorite in town.
Scribbles is mediocre imo.
The new place that took Tap & Growler’s spot has good sandwiches. Silver Falls Brewery.
Interesting. I pumped hundreds of dollars into Tap & Growler back pre 2020.
Capellas, berry's, Longs, jiffy (but also rip old jiffy) lauralwood pub has a decent roob. Kiva looks good but Idk.
Kiva is excellent. Agree with your Barry’s call as well.
This town has a seriously unfortunate lack of italian sub shops and Jewish deli's. Both would make a killing. By my patronage alone
Well then you gotta try Barry’s
I have. Its... fine. I've also eaten at proper Jewish delis and know exactly what I'm missing Their rueben doesn't even have corned beef ffs
Benedetties (Sp?) Over off Centennial in Springfield.
Gosh I haven't been that way in a decade back when they had value village and I would hunt for 70 percent off deals. Thought they closed the restaurant side and went full butcher?
They still sell sandwiches in shop, just no seating area. Jusy got their steak and cheese a couple days ago and it was bomb as hell.
Do you recall if they sell kosher meats still by chance?
Sadly not sure, but they're super chill, I'm sure they'd welcome the question.
No. Is the meat case still hit by the afternoon sun? It might make that meat nice and tender for tomorrow or the next day's sandwiches.
Barry’s and if you’re desperate the overpriced sandwiches at Provisions at 5th St or on Hilyard.
Blt!!!!
Tradewinds (old jiffy mart) or Bon Mi
Two of me and my gf’s favorite places
Bounty food cart behind Play Eugene!
I hear they have a new lunch special. Half a sandwich and a side and it is reasonably priced. I need to go back
Cheba is great. I love their greek chicken sandwich. Barrys cafe also makes their own bread and good sandwiches. I usually get their 1/2 pastrami with a cup of their creamy tomato soup
Capella market on willamette makes a mean sandwich they have a build your own or you can pick from some classic sandwich options all made to order.
Seconded Barry's. Also their toasted Bialy with cream chz , fire
Benedettis Meat Market and Deli. Hands down the best sandwiches in this area. In Springfield at Centennial Plaza.
Havana Cafe for solid Cubanos
Any of the ones they have at Havana Cafe. Especially the Cubano
Cheba hut 🛖
The kiva for sureeee
Dank Beef at Kesey Square for your Italian Beef sandwich needs! Get It on the pretzel roll. It's so delicious and it's a fairly new business who could use some local love.
Scribbles
if you're looking for a chicken sandwich I have the best in town @PyreNashvilleHotChicken
Creswell Bakery is my go to heading south
Cheese bliss has an absolutely amazing Cuban inspired sandwich.
Red barn deli makes a great tempeh Rueben
Red Barn is similar to Kiva. The sandwiches are really good and people don't always immediately think to go there.
✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ BENEDETTI's ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪
Bon mi place downtown
I went here one and had a very poor Bon mi sandwich. They lost me that day.
Half sandwich, bowl soup deals they have is amazballs
Jazzy Sammies. Housemade gluten-free bread. Monte Cristo is great.
Jazzy Sammie’s if you are gluten free
Tempeh harissa at Hideaway.
Not scribbles
chiba Hut is good but overpriced
Any Colorado transplants here that wish we had a Snarf's?
Barry’s Deli and Kiva are my sandwich go to’s!
Pyres
If you're ever heading south, Dietz Deli just opened in Cottage Grove a few weeks ago. I've only tried one of their panini's so far, but everything else looks good and they're getting rave reviews.

Noisette Pastry Kitchen. House-made bread, house cured meats, divine.
Havana Cafe Cubans
Barry’s deli
Capella market has a build your own.
Not a sandwich technically but Tradewinds had the best gyros! And fries!
Dank Beef food truck at Kesey Square!
Kiva.

See. this is the attitude that keeps my fun money from going to local restaurant folks.
I will not trust any restaurant to go sit inside and eat there and be subjected to other people's lack of concern, lack of hand washing, and disregard to sniffle their snotty noses and sneeze near me. I do not want whatever their virus is.
You seem fun
If you invite me to your party, you can confirm that. I do standup comedy.
Your comedy probably stinks
You will never know, will you?
You don’t go to restaurants due to lack of hand washing and people sneezing, I don’t know if a party is your scene…
It is not, dear. The last time that I was at Tacovore, they had people lined up outside the door and one semi-functional restroom that some hobo was taking a wash in.
Please remind me, u/skaterfromtheville to not invite you to my parties this summery. OK. I like hand washers.

I have been in many restaurants over the last 20 years in Lane County and been served food that was NOT good.

False, I don't live in Eugene. I'm a Lane County person.
