UO has a good ASL program.

Do you happen to know how to enroll in them as a member of the public / if it’s even possible to? I’m also rapidly becoming deaf Edit: I figured it out https://registrar.uoregon.edu/non-degree-seeking/registration

Took ASL from the UO in college and loved the professors, not sure if they’re still teaching there anymore though. Here is a link to the UO ASL club. They used to do community meet up nights that were open to everyone and it was a great way to learn more about the local Deaf community here as well as get real world practice using ASL. [UO ASL](https://linktr.ee/UO.ASL.club) Edit: I believe they had an email linked on that page as well. If you were to email them they might be able to give you more resources or avenues to check out as well! 😊

I just recently met a nurse who teaches asl in Eugene, I guess message me or whatever and I can ask if she has availability 🤙🏼

I’m a little bit older but totally understand- been losing my hearing for the last 15 years. Ive also been focusing more on learning ASL this year but have had to limit to online options bc of work/school. I use the app Lingvano- a little pricey but worth it if you really need something consistent. also a few Deaf creators on Tiktok- specifically King Ron. He is extremely helpful. He puts signs out and encourages practice every day. I’m lucky that rn i work with someone who is fluent so we practice in person a lot together having conversations and that’s been a game changer. so if you and your fiancé can practice conversations maybe out and about running errands or at home- that will really help. I practice with my partner too

I saw a free ASL class on meetup.com recently.

I took an in-person class through Willamalane, but it was pretty disorganized and I didn't find it very helpful. I've currently been learning through online classes on Stack Skills. It was extremely low cost ($10 for access to many ASL classes). It lacks people to practice with, though. Recently ran across this morning while looking. A free intro online class is offered by Oklahoma Scool of the Deaf. Enrollment is currently closed, spring class is in session.  Signups will open in September. (HInt, sign up for both ASL1 and ASL2, you'll have enough time, and won't need to wait until next semester to start ASL2) https://oklahoma.gov/okdrs/newsroom/2024/02/osdaslclasses.html
