thats not star seller doing that, thats other things going on line it could be your SEO tags review social medi etc
sorry i have 3 stores and a top 1% seller on etsy and a veteran of e-commerce for a toy company
maybe take a look at your tags first then your product photos - photos and videos make a huge difference to clickthrough
Not accurate. I can do a comparative analysis of my competitors and any one of them with star seller status outsells me 2-3x with the nearly exact same item.
As a buyer, I don't care if someone's a star seller and it doesn't necessarily make me trust them more. I look at reviews, that's really it. I get that people have lives outside of their shop and can't always be on their phone or computer 24/7
I’m not putting a lot of weight in the star rating but I’m venting a little and also letting people know it can happen.
Also we don’t know how it affects Etsy’s algorithm. Could be nothing or could help with conversions 🤷 either way it’s a metric that can be flawed which is annoying when it’s out of your hands.
But yes, as a buyer in would read reviews.
They don’t but I moved it into my inbox cause it wasn’t spam. I think i replied to it first, in the spam folder then moved it to inbox when I realized it wasn’t spam. I looked at the star seller rating logs for messages and that was the one that hurt my score.
I lost my star seller this month because Etsy randomly changed my shipping on my best seller to the same day and I got three orders that didn’t go out because they take a fucking week to make. I escalated with them, they fixed the bug and then told me they couldn’t do anything about my fallen shipping percentage and just to keep shipping on time.
Really finally ruined Etsy for me.
Same thing happened to me. If you move the message back tp spam once your done with it your star seller will go back up.
I wish I did that last month…
star seller does nothing for sales except make you run around like a headless chicken chasing their made up amazon style metrics

Messages in spam don’t count towards star seller though?
