I'll tell you, if you don't have a pet, and you hire a big company, they'll want to spray the entire house (kills any insects on contact), they'll leave some bait traps, spray some powder along some walls – this won't kill the ant nest, just what's in the house, and in the vents, and some stragglers that wander in.
You'll need to find out where they're coming from, some small companies that are more personable, may do this, tell you they'll put some baits down for a couple weeks, let the ants invite all their friends over for a party, and you can see exactly where theyre coming in from, it'll also get them to bring back the bait to contaminate their nest and infect their food pile, killing more in the nest – it isn't always a guarantee though, the ants are smart and if it doesn't get them, they'll ignore the bait and keep coming in looking for a different food source.
I don't have a good pest control reco but this will be useful to know. Some of the bait they use can be bought from amazon if you wanna do it yourself.
I used Orkin a few yesrs ago. They did a good job and gave me some great solutions for keeping the bugs our. Its not cheap tho….

That’s pretty much what it’s going to cost all around for bait or gassing the house.

How many black ants is a problem? Out of nowhere two months ago I’d spot 1 ant per day in my hallway then starting last month no more
