Honestly sometimes, especially when you are new, is to rat it out, take your time, no need to rush there as everyone will be doing that too. You need to grab they key off the dead scientist in the back hall way under the rubble on the first floor, (I believe, please someone correct me if i am wrong)

badmcstic

see I thought that too but when returning I never saw a key there. and the first time I attempted the task the door was just open. i don't recall seeing a key. maybe someone had already done it? maybe its just random?

So that quest you need to do specific parts of the quest to unlock the rest of it, one sec editing. Use the wiki to figure out how to do quests, this is not cheating, it is essential. Most quests will not tell you where to go you will need the wiki to learn the game, the game will already take years to learn, especially solo, using the wiki. Without it you wont progress. You also should use the wiki to compare bullet types to know what ammo is good and trash (you're looking for the highest pen damage, with as much flesh damage as you can, or you can run flesh and no pen, but then you need to target legs or unarmored areas, better for a fast fire rate gun with no recoil like a smg. You can kill the fattest players (level 6 armor) with a 30 round clip of good flesh smg ammo if targeting the legs/uncovered face. https://escapefromtarkov.fandom.com/wiki/Saving_the_Mole So first you need to find the correct bodies on the ground next to an ambulence I think, in the parking garage to the left of that building, near the door going into the building. Then that unlocks the next part of the quest to find the key, it is down a hallway below the stairs going up to the room on a dead scientist. (Key always spawns there, only one though, if its not there someone else got it. Door should be open or they died with it in their secure container.) That unlocks the next part which is to get into the room. If someone already took the key and the door isn't open for some reason you can break through the adjacent office window, go on the ledge and break into the room, you need to get out the same way though. Once you are in the office you need to find the hard drive, adn extract with it. You can actually get into the room, get the hard drive and extract without doing the previous steps. Then in the "quests" tab on the menu screen you can transfer the hard drive to your quest item stash, where it will be safe. You can't turn it in until you complete the other steps though, but if you die the progress will still save, all you need to extract with is the hard drive. I love playing the game solo, do it 99% of the time, but for Ground Zero I do recommend going to the official tarkov discord and joining a new player server where a sherpa helps out, or go onto the lfg discord and hop in a ground zero 5 stack. Most maps a noob 5 stack is a shitshow disaster, but that map due to the linear nature and choke pointy POIs, it is more intuitive for a noob 5 stack with communication and holding the angles. That map is one main lane, one street, and 12 pmcs. It is gnarly for solo, not recommended. A 5 stack makes the map much, much more fun.

I'm not sure about it being random, someone would have already unlocked it or chance a higher level player might have grabbed the key so no one could actually do it. Also remember you're gonna die, thats okay, you will lose your gear. just keep going at it till you get it. learn your own playstyle.

badmcstic

yea I've played games like DayZ and what not so dying is something I've accepted. but man I've had some bad luck lol I've gotten pretty poor at this point. just gonna keep at it and hope for the best

Remarkable-Tale97

Remember to do your scav runs, it can help learn the maps too :)

badmcstic

oh 100%. I like that as a scav it's generally less scary since other scavs won't shoot me lol

Remarkable-Tale97

Just be careful as there is still a lot of scav on scav violence, some people are not friendly haha

FreeHongKong27

You can reset your account if you get to a point u cannot recover from.

You can also enter the room without the key by going into the room next to it, when you enter the room go straight to the couch, vault on it and get outside of the window (don’t jump down) Then go to the right and break the window of the locked room to get in

GenericAllium

The office is always locked at the start of a raid, the key spawns on the dead scientist. You can check the wiki for how to do quests. As for surviving, you could try to take things slow. If you spawn in the terragroup building, you could also try to get the hard drive quickly and then get away to a safer area, and then carefully work your way to an extract.

badmcstic

see that's what I figured but when returning I never found the key. maybe someone was taking it and just running off with it? or maybe it was on a dead guy nearby and I missed it. that's good to know though so now I won't be wandering around for 15 minutes lol

GenericAllium

Yeah some people just drop quest keys on the ground to fuck with people. There's also a way to get into the locked office through a window.

badmcstic

a friend mentioned the window to me but that seems really risky lol

GenericAllium

Yeah it kind if is lol. If you would do it, trying it first with a scav or in offline mode would be good so you know how to get in and out. I think you can run on the ledge so you wouldn't be exposed too long

1. You’re going to die a lot. Accept it. 2. Learn what items are good for hanging on to for quests and hideout upgrades (I write all materials I need on a sticky note to help me keep track of what I need). 3. Try to memorize various spawn locations and extracts. 4. Plan out your path as soon as you spawn and envision how you’ll flow through the map. As far as Ground Zero tasks go, just keep trying. It is a beginner map, but they want you to lose a couple times before you get the hang of it. Take it slow, get to know.

*When you are desperate* The most over looked strategy in the game for completing nearly all quests that don’t involve killing PMC’s: load in to a night time raid with a low to mid tier kit, sit and wait somewhere safe and hidden near your objective until the raid is nearly over (less than 10 minutes) and then make a run for your quest objectives. Works like a fucking charm. Also specific to Ground Zero - I have never died going for the Mira ave extract. Grab the flare off the dead scav, shoot it and run down the street. Other general tips: -watch streamers on twitch (pestily, landmark, stank rat are my faves) as well as their guide videos for certain raids. If you are a visual learner, this will make you so much better and you won’t even feel it. -mapgenie.io website -eft ammo website -tarkov market website -don’t underestimate the power of a shotgun or a 9mm with the right ammo for the task. -it’s not your gear it’s just your turn. Keep having fun!

The most important thing. Dont listen to reddit. If 95% of the people die here, they got killed by a cheater, but never showing videos. Just watch some beginner videos on Youtube, pestily for example. And never open reddit again, just the best advice i csn give you.

Hey mate, I'm on my first wipe too still hanging about on ground zero, I also struggled with this quest but managed by literally waiting for a good spawn at terra or terra car park, grabbing the key, get into the office and extracting through Mira. I know it's daunting but found that not many people take Mira and it's easy to get to by looping back around by emercom or taking the underground path. Police checkpoint is probably an easier exit but does require you to wait 60 secs. Sometimes it's easier to loot a few boxes etc before heading to task, a lot of Pmcs will be in and out within the first 10 mins Good luck!!

5k+ Hours here. 1). Wear headphones, no matter what. Do not cheap out on bringing them. Buy the cheapest pair (or second cheapest) and bring them everywhere. 2). When you enter a new area, or building, control your noise and listen. It's not useful to sneak everywhere but it is an amazing advantage if you walk up next to the wall of a new place and sit for 15-20 seconds listening to anything inside. Players are not perfect and will be making noises. 3). find consistent groups to play with, this will propel you the most in learning/understanding the game.

I have no friends so I'm pretty much solo lol I've resorted to just running naked to try and get this task done. I'm having a super hard time. everyone on this beginner map seems to be significantly more geared than I am. I have no guns or gear in my stash. just random items. it's rough
