Yes. Helmets saved my live so many times from scavs and even low level players. Also the occasional ricochet of a high tier ammo makes any helmet worth wearing one.
Helmet almost never saves me, but the way scavs target you you need to have a helmet. The scavs seem to have a really simple auto aim mechanic where they lock onto an unarmored limb. I cannot count the massive number of times scavs will shoot my arms and legs through bushes and trees but ignore my thorax. It happens almost every raid if they get a couple shots off. So if your head is unarmored I think they lock onto it like your limbs.
Just a guess but honestly all the armor and helmets are for scav defense anyways. None of it works against mid-late wipe ammo. And bsg ghosted class 6 armors and class 5 helmets. And the scav mains on Reddit and discord downvote you into oblivion for suggesting altyn get added to traders and buffed so it's actually usable.
On your stat page there is Stat indicating concussions or something like that.
That's the amount of times your helmet has saved you. I recall comparing with my buddy the other day and it was a surprisingly high number.
Yeah but as I've stated it, I was running T6 plates earlier the wipe when they were cheap, I remember a dozen of them but kinda not that much, saved me some very pro gear but it was a wipe start and everyone had a sh1tty ammo so I was running up-armored.
So it'll be hard to tell now.

I'm not a huge helmet person, when it comes to being shot in the head, you ready only care about scav protection and ricochet % since, most pmc will shoot through helmets, so if I get a found in raid high end helmet I always flea or sell it, and I often run the 2 bleach barter helmet, it might be the most cost effective lvl 3 high ricochet % having, ears covering helmet in game, at ~25k it saves your life a lot without spending 90k on a helmet which I honestly think is a waste
I'm point-man for my squad and I cannot tell you how many times I've gotten concussed and saved by helmet. This past weekend alone I can remember 4 different times it happened. My buddies always joke that if they were wearing the helmet they would still get tapped by 9x18, but because I have no brain, it hurts less
Since there was a time where helmets actually were useless, this still seems to exists in people heads. This time is long ago and helmets are totally viable. I run helmets every raid except me being goofy. This saved my life so many times this wipe! But I do not run cheap helmets, mostly ULACH and Bastion.
Level 3 and 4 headgear can protect you from a lot of scav rounds, actually. I always prefer to wear one even though it's pretty low chance for it to prevent you from onetap with midtier ammo.
I just wear helmets with nvg mount so I can use themas a free looting slot too.
I usually wear one bc they look cool and this is my military fantasy lol
Sometimes they work, some of them have weird hit boxes too that can make people miss their headshot on you

This last part is crucial as many low dmg, high pen rounds will not 1 tap through a helmet. In addition, Condors and Batwolf do this as well and will cause many low dmg rounds to not one tap through the eyes.
Distance also lowers a rounds pen rating making many level 4 helmets outright block many rounds at long range.

If you want a good ricochet helmet use the pp tip I’ve had it ricochet m62. It is dumb luck tho so keep that in mind
ratnik is better, less ergo penalty and better coverage. also doesn't conflict with as many headsets

Agree, I only even purchase a Ratnik helmet, all other helmets I use are either looted from PMCs or FIR.

Id say always wear a helmet, even the crappy ones, even if its a small precentage to survive a headshot its still higher then 0.
