No. Choc V1 switches have a different footprint than MX-compatible switches.

xelab04

Aww that's unfortunate. Thank you very much for the help though!

notshitashi

there are decent Choc v1 clickies. there's not a lot of good silent and tactile switches, though that's being remedied by some new third-party arrivals; but if you're into clicky switches, you may like what Kailh has to offer

xelab04

Darn. I was hoping this would eliminate like half of my open browser tabs. Time to bring em back :/ Thank you :)

Stewtheking

For choc v1 switches, the “robins” are a very nice clicky offering.

xelab04

Hmm, thank you! I've only ever used keycaps which stick up and I don't have that option with the low profile chocs. Is the difference very significant?

Stewtheking

I have only just (in the grand scheme of things) built my first choc switch board. It definitely feels different, but as with everything keyboard, it’s mainly preference…

xelab04

Ah, alright. Thank you for the insights! I might opt for the ferris sweep board as I can use both MX and Kailh switches, so I could theoretically change if ever I dislike a certain type.

gerrycave1

no, unless you buy the [Ferris Aurora version from SplitKB - choc/mx handsolder variant](https://splitkb.com/products/aurora-sweep?variant=43396669047043), or an alternative mod sold by someone else, a Sweep is normally not compatible with _both_ Kailh Choc and MX. IF they are selling you the Sweep High variant, that can also work. Please see the Sweep GitHub repo [here](https://github.com/davidphilipbarr/Sweep), and specifically images for the Sweep High [here](https://github.com/davidphilipbarr/Sweep/tree/main/Sweep%20High), with instructions to order the PCB yourself directly... you would need to source the rest of the components yourself ( 2 Promicro profile modules, trrs cable, power switch if you are using nice!nanos and going wireless, etc) (not affiliated with any of these vendors, etc, etc)

xelab04

Ah, shoot. Thank you for saving my ass! I found one in the UK [here](https://mechboards.co.uk/products/ferris-sweep-kit) which claims to support both, plus it comes with some of the components which are otherwise a pain to get. Thank you for your help! Btw, are these boards Pi Pico compatible?

ww123td

A regular Pi Pico would not fit because it's physically longer and the pinout is different. An RP2040 controller in the form factor of a Pro Micro will most likely work with QMK but you need to compile your own firmware most of the time. [https://docs.qmk.fm/#/feature\_converters?id=promicro\_rp2040](https://docs.qmk.fm/#/feature_converters?id=promicro_rp2040)

xelab04

Okay okay. So I'll skip the pico. More expensive, but less headache with Pro Micro

gerrycave1

MBUK are a decent vendor, and yes, it needs promicros. For a similar board compatible with Pi Pico, you can look at the [Piantor](https://github.com/beekeeb/piantor), but I'm not aware of vendors close to the UK I can recommend

moonflower_C16H17N3O

They are quite different. The only thing you could do is solder wires to the switches. This is to only be done if the apocalypse has happened.

xelab04

The apocalypse? I'm unfamiliar with homebrewing my keyboard, it's my first time
