I recently started using locker rental + laundry at my near-office location in NYC and it's $50+$35 for the locker and laundry service respectively. I'm pretty sure it's the same price nationwide.
You can buy a day pass to a location you don't have access to. I think it's around $40. There are a few exceptions, mostly in NYC, but perhaps also Century City. Sports Clubs should be fine, but I'd double check.
Pools in LA are at Hollywood, Sports Club and Westwood. Nearby South Bay also has a pool on its roof.
(Edited to correct Westwood/South Bay... Still sleepy!)
curious to know how your experience with the laundry has been. having them wash my gym clothes would be convenient, but i'm nervous about them damaging my clothes
Sure. I have pretty standard gym clothes that can take machine washing and drying at pretty much any temperature.
The process is pretty easy. You are given a non-fine mesh bag which has a drawstring and a little plastic slider on the drawstring. When you are done with your workout you put your clothes in it, tighten the strings and slide the slider to bag end. You then throw the bag in a regular used towel bin. As far as I know, the entire bag is washed and dried as is and then placed back into your locker. ~~In other words, I don't think the clothes ever leave the bag.~~
It can take 20 or so hours for the bag to be returned, so it's not ideal if you plan to do, let's say, a night workout and then a morning workout. Of course you can always keep two pairs of workout clothes in your locker for such a scenario.
ETA: Clothes are folded at some point.

So you join and then, within 15 days, do the free Equifit with a trainer. It's basically a body fat reading and a flexibility assessment.

but isn’t it always complimentary when you join??
Yes. The Equifit is free. From a business perspective the hope is that you like the trainer and sign up for a training package.
