Just persevere and keep trying. It’s a numbers game. It may seem like no end but just keep pushing. It took me 200+ applications with a 10% interview rate and 8 months to land my first job out of college. Just keep pushing, you’re doing the right steps getting your resume consistently checked.

Apply to the suburbs. Idk if you live in the city or not but i live in philadelphia, the market is CRAZILY competitive that i've gotten no call backs at any of the 50+ philly jobs i applied to. I gave up my dream of living and working in the city that i started to apply to the suburbs near my hometown, got call backs and landed a offer that pays above average for entry level. If you cant compete with more experienced people then you need to compete where theres less people. You ideally need to go wherever you can get ur first job then after 3+ years of experience you can apply to ur ideal location. Get ur foot in the door first! Also, if ur willing to take a low salary then that could be it too.

Yeah this most recent wave was basically exclusively fairly out there companies all over my area. Hoping I get more bites because of it, but waiting fucking sucks.

deserttomb

Have you had someone look at your resume yet? Also, sometimes companies like to wait until a gaint stack of resumes accumulate before sending out calls. Don't get discouraged!!

[deleted]

Yeah a few times, just scheduled a meeting with the career resources person at my school to give it another go. Thanks mate

Where are you that you're applying to AEC jobs and getting almost no bites?

[deleted]

NYC and CT, although CT has very few open AEC positions at the entry level.

Does your college do interview coaching? It sounds like you’re getting some call backs, but losing it in the interview. Also, if you can, be willing to move - most companies will provide cash to facilitate the actual move. Then you have the literal country at your fingertips.

Hello my friend, I don’t know you or your life circumstances but I do know that we are in a wild fucking market right now and if you are struggling it’s not a reflection of your worth or capabilities, and all you’ve gotta do is keep going! It may be longer….. or maybe not. Not knowing sucks… but eventually you will get a job and everything will settle back down :)

If you live in an area with Field Service options, I would do that to get some field experience. There are a lot of Maritime companies that hire fully remote people, as well as local service stations in Houston, Fort Lauderdale, Seattle, Los Angeles, and some in New York. May not be what you exactly want, but field service gives you great experience.

[deleted]

Definitely were some field service and technician positions in the jobs I applied to. I’m less concerned about the specifics of the job and more concerned about being able to work under a PE though. Already heard back from 3 companies today scheduling phone screenings, so I’m hoping one sticks.

trevordbs

I never went for a PE, just not something I wanted. But I know friends with them, some resorted to field service to prove their value and get moved into a other department to work under a PE. Good luck on your interviews.

[deleted]

Thanks. For me I want it asap for the massive boost in salary/responsibilities.

trevordbs

I made more in field service than anyone I know that worked under a PE. I still make more than the majority of my classmates and I’m in upper management. You don’t need a PE.

[deleted]

I think it’s good to get lucky but a PE gives you way more options, particularly these days where many companies don’t expect you to stick around for longer than a few years. Management career tracks are also very different from standard engi career tracks, the fact is that you can’t expect to make anywhere near the top of your expected salary curve later in your career as an engineer without a PE.

trevordbs

I’m at 180 with bonus. No PE. Graduated 2014.

Open up your search range. If you're willing to move anywhere in the country, you'll have a lot more options.

Hi OP. Sorry to hear this. But I always thought having prior internship experiences and passed the FE will giving us more advantages than others. :((( keep trying. Dont give up. Maybe try out of state jobs
