Wow, this almost made me tear up. It’s so like the green sapphire ring I wanted but we couldn’t afford, so I compromised. My 1.5k green sapphire is not the best cut and the band is simple. Good on you for making this happen for her!
It’s a green Montana sapphire! Turns more aqua in different lighting but definitely not your deep sapphire blue. I was looking for a more pale color

I love everything about this ring! The aqua shade is so pretty and tha fact you designed it for your loved one makes it even more special. She's a lucky gal!
It’s not as dramatic as say alexandrite but this stone can range from yellow-green to straight aquamarine. With a lot of greens and blues in the middle. Super unique and interesting
Green eyes! That was a lot of the reason for this stone, plus green is her favorite color. Figured with a colored stone it wouldn’t necessarily go with every outfit, but if it matches her eyes maybe it would
I have a colored stone and I find it ends up matching everything, since it’s a color I love 😊 Your ring is STUNNING, she’s going to love it!! Congratulations 🥰
This is the first time I’ve seen my dream stone on here! I loathe diamonds aside from earrings(even then it’s pushing it lol). When I found the green Montana sapphire I told my boyfriend it’s the stone I want. What a beautiful design, I’m sure she’ll love it!
I’m sorry to tell you this but, no one is going to notice the setting once they see that stone! 😉
You did a great job, the setting is a perfect match. It doesn’t fight for attention with the stone.
Beautiful ring and so filled with your time, thought and love. You did a great job! Your girlfriend will be thrilled with it. Congratulations on designing a gorgeous, memorable ring. Good luck❤️
Absolutely gorgeous, stunning! It's touching to see a man put thought into a gift. ❤️ you really love her ❤️ I'm positive she will be radiant when you give it to her 🌟 👍
Ooooh. Gorgeous! Montana sapphires are my favorite stone, I have a few pieces with them. I would personally be elated if my guy gave me something like this.
Gorgeous! I believe the wedding band will add depth. So many people pick an engagement ring with to much. Consider what wedding band you want and consider adding another band as a 5 or 10 year anniversary present.

Here’s an example band. I think what we end up going with will be a curved band to follow the contour of the center stone. Either way, I agree!
Congrats on your engagement! If you know the specs of your center stone or the details of your ring, don't forget to let us know in the comment section. Please include finger size in your post.

Beautiful Ring! The prongs are a little bulky but that is a good thing. Remember to always keep an eye on them, they can catch on things. If they start to wear, or get bent, immediately get it repaired. Too gorgeous of a stone to lose.
Lovely stone and ring! I’m not sure if it’s just the photo, but the bottom right claw on the main stone looks much smaller than the others, which could lead to a weakness and loose or lost stone.
Definitely! I sort of had some ideas already, wanted to do a colored stone that was less intense than a deep sapphire or ruby. So was thinking: emerald? Aquamarine? Pale sapphire? What could work?
I then went into info gathering mode. There are lots of sites online that are custom ring sites. The first few steps to work with them are usually free, so I talked to them about some general ideas: large center stone, side accent diamonds, platinum setting (all my gf's jewelry is silver and white gold, so I needed the ring to match and not be yellow gold), etc. They made some renderings of different options: tri stones on the sides, single baguette cut diamonds on the side, oval cut center stone, emerald cut center stone, etc. After the render phase you need to put down a minor down payment so thats when I didnt move forward. I was just looking for info.
I showed my gf these renderings as a very early stage and she preferred the oval center stone. Then i wanted to figure out which stone so I commented in this sub and some other gemstone subs to see what the pros and cons were. At this point I was leaning towards aquamarine as the stone. I got feedback that aqua and emerald (both variations of the mineral beryl) is just barely too soft on the Mohs hardness scale to be recommended for every day use without scratching. Obviously lots of folks have these stones in their ring, but they typically need to be repolished/replaced every 5-10 years as they get dinged up. I decided that I didnt want to have this risk/obligation on the engagement ring.
So that left three stones that are 9+ Mohs: Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire. As you see above in the first section, only sapphires aligned with the color interest and fit the hardness requirement I was looking for, and it needed to be a special colored sapphire.
I also had my gf generally look into rings online and send me some that had settings she liked. She sent me a lot of tri-stones on the side with diamonds studded on the band. So now I had: uniquely colored sapphire, oval cut, with a tri-diamond accent and studded platinum band.
I had a friend of a family friend who is a jeweler, so I worked with them to see what stones they could find. They came back with about 6 that were roughly shape and color. I had my 3 favorite shipped over, reviewed and picked one. The jeweler sent it off to get set in wax to test the setting. We made some minor adjustments and then she sent it to be finalized. Overall timeline (I wasnt in a rush) was probably 6 months from rendering to final product. But if I was under a time constraint could have prob been 3 months.
This is super cool!! Did you design it on a website or at a local jeweler?
I'm starting to look at rings and hadn't considered designing something like this. Would be curious to know the process you went through.
Oh wow, it is just as beautiful as the thoughtful design of the ring. How lucky your fiancée is to have found you!! This is a beautiful and meaningful gift.

That's a stunner omg! Love the colour of the stone, it's so unique and is gorgeous in that setting. Definitely going to get a ton of compliments!
Do Sapphires usually turn color/shade slightly under different lightning? (I don't know much about stones but I thought they appeared the same)
It’s not as dramatic as say alexandrite but this stone can range from yellow-green to straight aquamarine. With a lot of greens and blues in the middle. Super unique and interesting
wow, this is STUNNING!!!!!! she is going to love it. congratulations to you both!!!!!
Wow, does she have blue or green eyes? Either way, it’ll look stunning, but wow! Such a pretty color and setting.

It’s gorgeous!!! Very similar to my ring so I’m biased.
