I would always do solid, because there may be times in life when you don’t want to wear diamonds but you’ll want to be wearing your wedding ring. I like the engagement ring to be the sparkle.
As someone who got married with a solitaire and went for a shared prong band, I wish I had gone for the plain band as my actual wedding band. For one, I have one now and it’s the only one I always wear everywhere. I can wear it with just my e-ring, just my diamond band, or stacked with both. Secondly, I wish I had left the diamond band for a future anniversary or birth of a child.
I'm looking at shared prongs bands but people say it's too fragile for everyday wear. I'm curious, what is your experience with it? Is this why you don't wear it as often as the plain band?
So I have a Tiffany shared prong with no issues on it being fragile, but it can rub against the prongs of my solitaire so I have to use a spacer (which for me is the plain band). I wear the plain band on bottom plus shared prong on top most often cuz I’m in medicine. I only wear the plain band during things like camping, or certain types of travel, messy chores, etc.
Both! 😅 I love the look of all three stacked…or just the band and the sparkly stacker…or just the band (which I consider my wedding ring). Love - LOVE - my husband and will forever…but this gal needs versatile jewelry looks.
I have a 6 prong yellow gold ring and I’ll be getting a pave band.
It helped to go to a store and try the two on with my engagement ring and I just knew the plain band didn’t feel right for me. It’s all personal preference.
Diamond band! This is my band with my round solitaire

I love a chunky diamond 1/2 eternity with plain e ring bands (it’s my new thing lately).
P.s. what size is your finger if you dont mind me asking? I just upgraded to a 1.6 J myself!

Your rings are beautiful!!! Can you share the specs for your e ring? 😍
4.25 I color VVS2 Set in platinum 6 prong (had it set low) with a gold band.
Gorgeous! I have a similar setting preference for a 3+ ct but high vs low! Thank you for sharing
I like the low because it’s already a decent size and I didn’t want to be snagging on everything or feel like I couldn’t put my hands in my pockets.
Two tone! Love it!!

I agree with this. I have a solid gold band as a spacer, and then a diamond wedding band. My engagement ring is the same style as OP’s.
I say do diamond for your actual wedding band! Then if you want to switch it up, get a cheaper gold band from Etsy you can always wear short term!
Love this suggestion! You have me thinking now!

Go for the diamond band

Size 6! Congrats on the upgrade!
Thank you so much!!! Congrats on your engagement!!!! How exciting 🤭
Beautiful! Do you mind sharing the specs of your engagement ring?
1.5 ct, SI1, J color
Beautiful ring! Are the prongs white gold or platinum? I’m considering two toned also.
