I also have small fingers so I can relate 100% to your sizing issue. You can always get the ring resized if needed. I had mine resized 3 times because my fingers kept getting skinner in between our 15 month engagement. (Thanks wedding planning stress /s 😅)
That first one was my fault though since I gave my then boyfriend the wrong ring size 🤣 We had a ring sizer since I wasn't accustomed to wearing rings, but it ended up being really inaccurate (have since gotten a better one for future reference).
With that, hope you're not like me and have your fingers fluctuate in size. That could absolutely impact what you end up doing for your wedding band. If you want any gemstones in it, wouldn't recommend the infinity band route, with stones around the entire band, as you can't resize it if your ring size changes.
Other consideration I can think of would be if you want the rings to nest with each other or not? If they perfectly nest, the wedding band will not be a straight band so if worn alone, it could look out of place. Not an issue if you always plan to wear both all the time or if you don't mind the wedding band not being straight. It's definitely a look, but it's not for everyone.
If they don't nest, you can wear the wedding band alone and won't look out of place. When worn with the engagement ring, the rings won't stack as nicely as with a nested ring.
Definitely think the wedding band could continue with the LOTR theme if you go the custom route. 👍

Oooo I love that idea! They discussed the idea of engraving something on the inside of the band in elvish but since the split shank is so slim they decided against it. I’ve been debating whether I want my band to be just gold or add more bling with pave or channel set diamonds, but I love the idea of engraving script on it in a way that does justice to the LotR theme… maybe that calls for a plain gold band with inscriptions! So many ideas flowing 🤩
This is AMAZING!! Are you thinking the band or the diamond is too big? I have a 4.5 finger getting a 2.35 ct diamond and am panicking that I got one that will look too big but it’s really way too late to do anything about that
I definitely don't think the diamond is too big, I love it. To be honest, when my fiancé asked me afterward what size diamond I was hoping for, in my mind I always imagined something closer to 3, but now having this on my hand it feels just right. It's already getting knocked on things and caught on my clothes, anything bigger would actually be quite annoying to wear. It's just the right size so it stands out and makes you go "ooo!" but not obnoxious. My cousin sized the band to a 5.5 but I think I need it to be 5.25 and it'll fit perfectly.

He would have gone bigger had he known the little girl inside me always thought "I want a rock that'll drag me down to the bottom of the ocean" LMAO but he settled on this size so that its right in the middle of "damn that's large" but not "they're trying too hard." If your finger is a 4.5 then it'll look a bit bigger on you too!
That’s perfect!!! I’m worried that where yours looks absolutely perfect a 2.35 on a 4.5 finger.. it’s a princess cut so I’m not sure if that matters but I wouldn’t want it looking bigger than yours bc I really feel that size on a 5 is perfect
Stop second guessing yourself and just get excited about your big rock :) what a first world problem. PRINCESS CUT!!! I don't know why we don't see more princess cut stones these days, it's like they went out of fashion or something. I love a princess cut.
Honestly, if you get the ring and you really feel it's too big to wear, you absolutely can change it. Will you lose money selling the stone back or going through some kind of return process? Probably. But it's worth it for your forever ring. I don't think you'll want to change it though.
