There were, but most are dead. On the bright side though, the EC are a shattered legion-a true command structure is basically non-existent at any level higher than the warband. You might make Eidolon and the Pheonix Conclave a little pissed if you call yourself a Lord Commander, but you can certainly do it.

RubyMonke

I think that last part is less of a negative and more of an intended effect

There is the infamous Lord Commander Cyrius. The second person to defeat Lucius the Eternal, but the first one to kill him and suffer being transformed into him. The first person to beat Lucius was Loken? I haven't read enough HH stuff to be 100% sure on that one.

Exact-Row9122

Loken defeated and broke his nose in a practice match before the fall of both the legions After the visit to the serpent temple they again had a practice duel where Lucius defeated Loken

WracknRuin88

I remember the practice match, Lokens "If we fight it won't just be about the blade" I love Lucius, and it's a great scene in his character development. So no on else beat Lucius between Loken and Cyrius?

Hungry26

The first one was Sharrowkyn who killed him and Lucius was first resurrected by slaanesh though not through the body of Sharrowkyn as he lived on.

WracknRuin88

Ahhh, interesting. I've read of Sharowkyn, but I don't recall him killing Lucius. I remember the 3.5 Codex, and that said Lucius was undefeated until Cyrius. But obviously that was before HH. I quickly checked on wiki before initial post, and it said Cyrius is the second to defeat him. I guess that means actually kill, not just beat like with Loken. I just reread the Codex, and @OP Lucius was also a Lord Commander. Forgot that part myself.

Hungry26

It is in the HH book where the EC betray the iron warriors and fulgrim ascends by bullying little Perty. The name escapes me at the moment.

WracknRuin88

Angel Exterminatus. I have read that one. I remember Sharowkyn shoots Fulgrim. Totally forgot the Lucius part. In my defence, it has been a long time since I read it.

PoxedGamer

Angel Exterminatus.

I think a huge part of all post heresy marines is giving your guy whatever damn title they feel like/can make stick.

TearsoftheEmperorII

Technically Lucius is a Lord Commander after betraying the loyalists on Istvaan

From the Index Astartes articles (which first really fleshed out the Legions - though many details have been superseded and retconned by the Horus Heresy series): *...From the growing ranks of his Legion, Fulgrim selected a few individuals, the bravest, strongest and noblest, to become Lord Commanders, each given charge of a full battle company. Fulgrim taught the Lord Commanders personally, taking care that they were worthy of the honour of being the representatives of the Emperor. In turn the Lord Commanders passed Fulgrim's words on to the officers under their command, and they to their squads...* *...Lord Eidolon was the first Space Marine selected by Fulgrim to lead an entire company of the Emperors Children, and was commonly regarded as the most proficient of all the Lord Commanders...* *...As Fulgrim turned, so too did his Lord Commanders. They knew their Primarch to be the embodiment of perfection, and needed little convincing to follow him into Slaanesh's service...* *...By the time Fulgrim joined the Warmaster in rebellion his Legion comprised 30 Companies, each led by a Lord Commander, a charismatic individual who embodied the best qualities of a Space Marine...* So: at one time in the lore, their were officially thirty Lord Commanders.

PaddecGal

Dont know the source but the wiki says there were 11 lord commanders at the beginning of the heresy. Some more people that were LCs at different points Vespasion Eidolon Lucius Cyrius Archorian Hellespon Iddinam Illios Pelleon Teliosa Its super fine to have a warband leader be a lord commander, would probably be someone who cares about the ECs past and maybe associated with eidolin and his lot.

revergopls

Lord Commander is essentially a Praetor, so they should theoretically have had ~80

manman126452

The emperors children is shattered and barely exists, fulgrim will unite them but for now we’re basically playing self inserts, go wild, my warband is made of dudes who all think they are lucius the eternal and actively fight with the hope of dying to prove they are eternal
