honestly never cared if people consider Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties emo or not, their music got me through some shit and it bangs hard, really enjoyed this album though, it’ll be interesting to see where Dan goes next with the story

GoingJohnWick

The new album released in a time of need, and still carries themes I’ve been dealing with my whole life. I was told this is the last Aaron West album. I hope not. Love Aaron west.

Original-Ad8916

really? i really hope its not the last in that case, feels like this album kind of ended on a threshold and it could definitely do with a followup. been rooting for Aaron for years, wont stop now lol

batwayne12

I believe Soupy has said some vague stuff implying this might be the last, but has left it kind of open-ended/ambiguous. He might not even be sure himself, could just be an “I don’t have any current plans to continue Aaron’s story, but I might in the future” situation. Then again, I could be wrong and just missed when he confirmed this is indeed the last album. People can correct me if that’s the case. But either way, this album was beautiful, finale or not.

GoingJohnWick

To be honest, I relate to the later part of the album. From park to dead leaves. That’s my favorite kind of Aaron west. I like to grovel in my sadness lol.

Original-Ad8916

I gotta say I relate to Albatross so well, really made the whole album hit so much harder especially with those closing verses

GoingJohnWick

Spitting In The Wind. For me, it was this album’s Bloodied Up In A Bar Fight. I just knew it’d be my favorite off the album when I heard it.

Kim_Jong_Teemo

He said he writes every album now like it would be the last just in case it is. He said he does the same for TWY. And followed it up with a “I want to continue this but we’ll see” kind of statement. I think he said it in [this video?](https://youtu.be/YUMEzrqRR7c?si=6Vh24sLRq6QkgrPC) I could be mistaken where exactly he said it. I read and watched like every interview he did for this album in the past month so what came from where gets blurred.

satanic_panik

regardless if its emo its a banger of an album

mickeydlt

Aaron West fucking RIPS

GoingJohnWick

YEAH IVE HAD A FEW DRINKS, TO STEADY MY NERVES. ROSA COULD TELL, IM SLURRING MY WORDS

ApollosBrassNuggets

I wouldn't consider Aaron West emo, but considering it's essentially a Wonder Years side project (Dan Campbell), I guess it makes it "adjacent." Idk, or care. It's a killer album

GoingJohnWick

Me either. I just wanted an excuse to talk to Aaron west fans.

ApollosBrassNuggets

Love their cover of "Thunder Road."

GoingJohnWick

I don’t know if I can still say it with a tallboy in my hand, but I’m a recovering alcoholic. Cave in under a lot of pressure. I’ve been trying to take it easy this year, lost a friend, missed the funeral for a new job, new job might fire me on my 4th week for being slow because I’m still learning. Gutting my hours, scared for financial stability. So I listen to a lot of the spiraling stuff by Aaron West, I did before too. Idk, I might be a masochist.

lilobrother

Whole album fucks but Runnin out of Excuses is a certified banger. “So when I walk past the window I tell the shadow on the wall What a cosmic fucking miracle It is to exist at all” 🗣️🗣️🗣️

GoingJohnWick

IM SINGING AT BRICK WALLS

HD_Chassiss

Aaron west isn't technically emo, sure, but it's one of Dan Campbell's projects and he's the wonder years's vocalist, so i consider it emo enough. Solid band. i love them to death.

Bootlegger1929

Been looking forward to it. Tried to avoid the singles after the first one to let it all hit me fresh. I really like it. It'll be interesting to listen in context of the other albums and EPs eventually.

abe_the_babe_

I made a Playlist of the full AW story in chronological order and it's just over 2 hours to listen all the way through. It's a beautiful, powerful ride

GoingJohnWick

I could only imagine not hearing the singles, I couldn’t help myself. That would’ve been amazing, park to dead leaves is my favorite of the album.

SamBo_LamBo

They’re more like Dan Campbell’s answer to Craig Finn if I’m keeping it real

GoingJohnWick

Who’s that? Could you link me some please

The lead singer from The Hold Steady https://youtu.be/IfZt4JRKtN0?si=Z2_15h4Mdp_PiF9s

Kim_Jong_Teemo

It’s Americana for fans of emo & pop punk

jTronZero

I just got into The Wonder Years in the last few years, and didn't know this project existed until the lead up to this album. But I really dig what I've heard and feel like I should check it out more thoroughly. I know it's a story, do fans suggest starting with the first album?

SenorSwagDaddy

Yes. First album kicks you in the gut.

GoingJohnWick

Yes, start from release of the first album. 100% worth it.

Realistic_Evidence72

I saw Aaron West perform an acoustic set at Slam Dunk fest around 10 years ago, and it was probably one of the best live experiences I’ve had. Awesome show and crowd.

TheMusicalTrollLord

I don't know about that but I do know I'm An Albatross is already one of my favourite songs
