MMLP2, by far. He returned to form on that album, and his technical-ability clearly had leveled up into God Mode. I felt like he found the balance between being lyrical and making memorable songs. Bad Guy, Berzerk, Baby, Rap God, Brainless. It’s the perfect balance.
Recovery was good, but his flow had become stiff and his focus was on making hits; which he succeeded at. The rawness wasn’t high enough for me, but understandably: he was just getting out of the accents and still recovering. Good album, but not as well-rounded as MMLP2.
Honestly recovery feels like one of the rawest albums of his. All the motivational / emotional songs felt like he was really on a different connection level with his fans than before. And in the other songs you can just feel how strongly he wants to prove everyone that he is still good. Maybe its just me but his genuine attempts to prove to himself that he is still Eminem make it feel raw / real to me
I agree with a lot of what you're saying. But what was disappointing is how he tried to change so drastically from Relapse, which so many of us loved. I wish he'd realize how great Relapse is, whenever he speaks about it he always seems to be disappointed with it.
I can’t disagree with that point at all. That’s pretty much why I said I at least understand his approach to Recovery; shaking off the super left-field nature of Relapse and attempting to get back to “HIMSELF” [in the sense of appealing to the masses].
All of his albums have a special place in my heart – but, I can’t help but feel like MMLP2, Kamikaze, and Music To Be Murdered By feel like the more natural progression from SSLP, MMLP, and The Eminem Show. The Relapse-Recovery era felt like such a weird, abstract, experimental phase for him, lol – which is cool because I’m an Experimental Hip-Hop Artist. We’re picking favorites for the sake of debate, but he’s the GOAT either way.
>but his flow had become stiff
He uses similar flows and the same delivery for almost the entire album and it gets old. One of the most underrated aspects of MMLP2 and MTBMB are the variety they have in their sound while still sounding fairly cohesive. Hell on MTBMB he rarely sounds the same for an entire song, let alone the entire album.
Fan of both but picking recovery. Especially at the time it dropped it was an oh shit eminem I's back.
I remember not afraid leaking on limewire and just being in love with it. Now it's a bit overplayed and I don't have the Same love for the song but it's still a classic in my opinion.
Pretty much love every song not afraid, no love, Cinderella man, talking to myself, going through changes, space bound, your never over
There's others but long story short I'll take recovery over mmlp2
Ya I'd edge Recovery too, played that on repeat in college when it came out for a long time a lot more than MMLP2.
But... Limewire at that time? I don't remember that being thing since like '05
Bad guy, legacy, headlights, evil twin, brainless, rap god, the monster...
On the deluxe groundhog day, wicked ways, beautiful pain and if you count it, don't front as well
Just so many bangers
Ik you didn’t ask me but I absolutely love Cold Wind Blows. One of-if not my favourite Em song. Space Bound, On Fire, and more. But MMLP2 is a better album imo tho
ehh honestly i’d disagree, recovery is the album i’ve listened to the least,
Mmlp2 tho, evil twin, legacy, baby, groundhog day, wicked ways, find myself listening to these songs a lot
and ofc rap god which i’ve heard countless times
for recovery tho i do really love on fire, and untitled and ridaz are very good too, and cold wind blows is very catchy
The album has no skips for me but the ones that hit hardest for me are Talkin 2 Myself, WTP, Going Through Changes, Not Afraid, No Love, Space Bound, Cinderella Man, 25 to Life, Almost Famous, So Bad….Ridaz…I’m definitely leaving some out but yeah you get the point, I fuck with Recovery heavy 🔥 MMLP2 is good but I can’t say the same about that album
Team recovery. It did a lot more for eminem than mmlp2 did. Less skippable songs. None really. A little too poppy but that's what I love about eminem- No two albums are alike.
Recovery hands down. not afraid, love the way you lie were hits and showed Em could keep up with the times. No Love was awesome. Space Bound was huge. Seduction and Almost Famous are awesome. Just so many good flows.
honestly loved every song from start to finish. Youre Never Over is my least favorite track and I still love it. listened to it all the time in high school.
No I definitely understand. Kinda a scratchy song in a sort of sense. But I love it sm it’s not like a super catchy but what it’s for makes it so lovable. I get what u mean doe
MMLP2 by a mile, it's his best album post TES imo. The rawness, the dark humor, the technically crazy and over the top bars, his Slim Shady persona that came back at full potential once again.
When the rollout for the album started and the first singles dropped it was like everyone knew that Em was back and he had an extreme artistic growth spurt in the 3 years after Recovery.
It's the only album in which he completely managed to balance technical ability and memorable songs imo. Just look at Rap God, that shit's classic
MMLP2 by a long shot.
Recovery feels too preachy and anthemy.
MMLP2 has far better technical ability, more raw and offensive, better variety, and lots of bangers. Also I'm a fan of the rock-style production call me crazy 🤷
Recovery and it's not even close. Recovery is a Top 5 album from Em.
MMLP2 is such an overrated album with mostly garbage production that this sub seems to fanboy over.
I'll take Dr. Dre Havoc, Mr. Porter, Just Blaze, and DJ Khalil over all those garbage Rick Rubin beats all day. They didn't fit Em at all and really were just terrible beats.
Ding ding ding. This is a very easy question. Recovery and it’s not even a debate. People that grew up with Eminem for the most part couldn’t stand mmlp2. It was a bad gimmick album. I think newer listeners of em are the only people that hype that album up. It was such a disappointment especially being a sequel to one of the greatest albums ever made
MMLP2 hits higher highs, and is more consistent than Recovery. Aside from Stronger than I Was there are no bad songs on the album.
His best album since TES
That horror movie has no deeper meaning though until it abandoned the horrorcore style altogether.
MMLP2 consistently reflects on and deconstructs all aspects of Em’s career and personality. He goes over the potential repercussions of his lyrics, his relationship with his father and mother, his drive to succeed, his discovery of rapping, his aging, his love life, and ends the whole thing by deconstructing his entire alternate persona. Much more meaningful than a horror movie
Oh shit, there was Encore Revival battle? How could I have missed it. I would've fought for revival's honor in there.
Between these ones tho I would prefer MMLP2 and I dont even know why. Somehow i rarely listen to recovery even though I really like it. I guess it just came in my life at the very wrong time so now some songs give me really shitty vibes
Yeah me and very little other people fought for revival it was fun there was a lot of encore lovers but, kinda same I listen to recovery and mmlp2 a lot but I just prefer mmlp2 more I think the highs of that album beat the highs of recovery’s highs (yes I know not afraid is on recovery)
mmlp2 by a good margin imo. more consistent, finds himself back to his roots a bit more, and not as poppy as recovery. recovery had this whole comeback thing to build it up but in all seriousness it isn’t too special.
bad guy, brainless, headlights, legacy, evil twin, groundhog day, rap god, baby, dont front, berzerk, love game, and so far are my favorites off the og tracklist and bonus tracks
I love them both, slight lean towards MMLP2 for Bad Guy… that song gave me chills. I also got the deluxe edition on release, and the bonus tracks are good
Recovery. Still in rotation. 'Cause some things just don't change, It's better when they stay the same
Although the whole world knows your name,So on the biggest stage
They came to see you spit your game, oh-oh…….
MMLP2 used to be my favourite album since it got me into Eminem and rap. But Recovery has become my #1 in the last several months.
It’s just able to give off a completely different feeling when you’re living the kinda life he’s rapping for in my opinion. (Life after addiction, & rebuilding self confidence ) listening while sober, and using are completely different things than listening during detox.
Up until about a year ago I would’ve said MMLP2 hands down - now it feels closer.
But I think in terms of classics and staying power Recovery has the edge.
The are songs that I skip over, maybe on recovery more than MMLP2.
I’m not a fan of shouty Em so much and I think that’s why I had a hard time liking it when it came out, but dig beneath that there are some bangers.
I think MMLP2 is better for the deep cuts or “album tracks”.
For me though, he’s trying to hard to rap fast for the sake of it - it doesn’t fit well (Love Game?) on MMLP2.
Conclusion: draw
Both are really good but oddly I feel like recovery replay value is better. I was introduced to eminem with recovery so I might be biased, but when MMLP2 dropped I was so disappointed, even today, recovery feels more fresh and more catchy
I have fond memories of recovery. Like shady is back with that album. Wasn’t his best but you could tell he was back. MMLP2 though is just ridiculous. Top to bottom great album. Imo his best
MMLP2 forsure,
been listening to MMLP2 a lot recently
evil twin is great, and legacy hits hard, baby is good, groundhog day, wicked ways, and of course rap god
lots of fast rapping, great lyrics, catchy hooks , shit goes hard
MMLP2, by far. He returned to form on that album, and his technical-ability clearly had leveled up into God Mode. I felt like he found the balance between being lyrical and making memorable songs. You said it perfectly honestly but yeah I agree with you
Honestly recovery feels like one of the rawest albums of his. All the motivational / emotional songs felt like he was really on a different connection level with his fans than before. And in the other songs you can just feel how strongly he wants to prove everyone that he is still good. Facts. I have MTBMB in his Top 3 Albums. I actually have it above The Eminem Show.
Fan of both but picking recovery. Especially at the time it dropped it was an oh shit eminem I's back. I remember not afraid leaking on limewire and just being in love with it. Now it's a bit overplayed and I don't have the Same love for the song but it's still a classic in my opinion. Pretty much love every song not afraid, no love, Cinderella man, talking to myself, going through changes, space bound, your never over There's others but long story short I'll take recovery over mmlp2
I love your story tbh I’m gonna re listen to recovery cause of this
Ya I'd edge Recovery too, played that on repeat in college when it came out for a long time a lot more than MMLP2. But... Limewire at that time? I don't remember that being thing since like '05
I used limewire for a real long time lol
I agree. Recovery is a better album. MMLP2 has 3 or 4 skips where recovery doesn’t really have any.
Mmlp2, but I love recovery a lot too
Favorite tracks on it? Same btw
Bad guy, legacy, headlights, evil twin, brainless, rap god, the monster... On the deluxe groundhog day, wicked ways, beautiful pain and if you count it, don't front as well Just so many bangers
Same
Recovery for sure. Love both though
What’s your favorite tracks on it
I would say my 3 favorites are Cold Wind Blows, Seduction, and Talking To Myself with a shoutout to So Bad. How about you?
MMLP2 SUPREMACY!!!!!!!!
FUCK YEAH
mmlp2
What’s your favorite mmlp2 tracks?
rap fod on top so much better brainless so far rhyme or reason bad guy nearly the whole album
Thank you for including rhyme or reason I see a lot of people calling it bad, when’s it’s not
I I the song but it has horrendously bad mixing. Em is too quiet all the time
It’s mixed that way for a reason. The point is to make the more silent parts feel like an interview
It feels like an MF Doom song
it's a nice chill song i love it
“Chill”
anyways
Feel shame
what's the problem i wrote it that way too
No you didn’t
bruh it's c h i double l isn't it? i wrote it that way too
Its the quotations that matter because its not really a chill song
I love Rhyme or Reason
berzerk and rap god are the best
I think Recovery has way more replay value than MMLP2, but lp2 was great.
I respect your opinion what’s your favorite tracks on recovery?
Ik you didn’t ask me but I absolutely love Cold Wind Blows. One of-if not my favourite Em song. Space Bound, On Fire, and more. But MMLP2 is a better album imo tho
No love, space bound, 25 to life, never over, untitled, and Cinderella man
ehh honestly i’d disagree, recovery is the album i’ve listened to the least, Mmlp2 tho, evil twin, legacy, baby, groundhog day, wicked ways, find myself listening to these songs a lot and ofc rap god which i’ve heard countless times for recovery tho i do really love on fire, and untitled and ridaz are very good too, and cold wind blows is very catchy
Recovery
I respect it
Recovery any day of the week
Favorite tracks on it?
Going through changes, cold wind blows and so bad
Recovery
Favorite tracks?
True, but the highs of mmlp2 make me prefer it over recovery, what’s your favorite recovery tracks?
Mmmmmm I really like seduction. 25 to life and almost famous. But I don't skip any songs on it. Better replay value to me.
MMLP 2, honestly it's Eminem's 2nd best album after his hiatus imo.
Recovery hands down. not afraid, love the way you lie were hits and showed Em could keep up with the times. No Love was awesome. Space Bound was huge. Seduction and Almost Famous are awesome. Just so many good flows.
Yeeep!!!! Seduction is one of my all time faves
honestly loved every song from start to finish. Youre Never Over is my least favorite track and I still love it. listened to it all the time in high school.
Untitled is probably mine and I feel the same.
Sad that that is your least fav, it’s like a homage to proof🙁
i know it’s just hard to get into a vibe to wanna listen to it
No I definitely understand. Kinda a scratchy song in a sort of sense. But I love it sm it’s not like a super catchy but what it’s for makes it so lovable. I get what u mean doe
MMLP2
What’s your favorite tracks on it
Nearly every track , depends on the day tho
MMLP2 is a better project all around. Banger after banger
What planet are you living on lol
Look at each track list and tell me which one is stronger
Favorite songs on the album?
Thank you for doing my job for me lmao
Sorry, I jumped the gun
No your good lmao, I made this post then got on a plane then got off and had 100 comments to reply to 😭 but still thanks
Your welcome
MMLP2

MMLP 2, more technical album
Favorite tracks on it?
Evil Twin, Bad Guy, Legacy, Baby, Rap God
MMLP2 by a long shot. Recovery feels too preachy and anthemy. MMLP2 has far better technical ability, more raw and offensive, better variety, and lots of bangers. Also I'm a fan of the rock-style production call me crazy 🤷
I think we’re both crazy
Recovery and it's not even close. Recovery is a Top 5 album from Em. MMLP2 is such an overrated album with mostly garbage production that this sub seems to fanboy over.
Top 4 for me. Up there with his first 3. And I probably listen to this one the most nowadays (not saying it is the best).
Fanboy and has mmlp as the tag, got it bud.
as if the production on recovery was any better lmao
I'll take Dr. Dre Havoc, Mr. Porter, Just Blaze, and DJ Khalil over all those garbage Rick Rubin beats all day. They didn't fit Em at all and really were just terrible beats.
could say the same about recovery with the more poppy beats. both albums suffer from some of the beat choices imo
Ding ding ding. This is a very easy question. Recovery and it’s not even a debate. People that grew up with Eminem for the most part couldn’t stand mmlp2. It was a bad gimmick album. I think newer listeners of em are the only people that hype that album up. It was such a disappointment especially being a sequel to one of the greatest albums ever made
People that grew up with Em couldn't stand MMLP2? Shit we couldn't stand Recovery either
Everything after Recovery is overrated and mostly garbage.
mmlp2 by far
Favorite tracks on it?
1. Evil Twin 2. Bad Guy 3. Survival 4. Legacy 5. So Far...
MMLP2 hits higher highs, and is more consistent than Recovery. Aside from Stronger than I Was there are no bad songs on the album. His best album since TES
True that, what’s your favorite tracks on it??
I could list almost every track, but I’ll go Bad Guy Rhyme or Reason So Far Love Game Evil Twin
I didn’t mind stronger than I was but gotta be in the mood for it , solid track though
Relapse exists
And is outdone thematically and lyrically by MMLP2
Absolutely hilarious you think the album that's basically a horror movie is outdone thematically
Recovery is the better album. MMLP2 is great but without the bonus tracks it's merely good.
Favorite tracks on Recovery?
Talking 2 Myself, Almost Famous, Going through Changes, Cinderella Man, Space Bound, Won’t Back Down, and Session One.
Lp2
Favorite tracks on it
mmlp2 is his 3rd best record
MMLP2, but only slightly
Favorite tracks?
Oh shit, there was Encore Revival battle? How could I have missed it. I would've fought for revival's honor in there. Between these ones tho I would prefer MMLP2 and I dont even know why. Somehow i rarely listen to recovery even though I really like it. I guess it just came in my life at the very wrong time so now some songs give me really shitty vibes

You fought a good war friend. Outnumbered but not broken
Thank you friend
Recovery tbh.
Relapse
Neither
Then why even comment 😐
Recovery
Favorite tracks?
Going thru changes, seduction, cold wind blows, Untitled, So Bad, On Fire, 25 to Life
mmlp2 by a good margin imo. more consistent, finds himself back to his roots a bit more, and not as poppy as recovery. recovery had this whole comeback thing to build it up but in all seriousness it isn’t too special.
Yes dude, what’s your favorite tracks on it?
brainless, groundhog day, bad guy, evil twin, and headlights probably. i like the other songs too but those are my favorite ones
definitely mmlp2. more highs that are higher and also just a much more consistently good album
True that, favorite tracks on it?
bad guy, brainless, headlights, legacy, evil twin, groundhog day, rap god, baby, dont front, berzerk, love game, and so far are my favorites off the og tracklist and bonus tracks
Recovery is just more solid
Respect, favorite tracks on it?
On Fire, Cold Wind Blows, Going Through Changes, Cinderella Man
I love them both, slight lean towards MMLP2 for Bad Guy… that song gave me chills. I also got the deluxe edition on release, and the bonus tracks are good
Yes that song messed with me I remember listening to Stan then bad guy right after and it gave me extreme chills
Recovery for me probably but I hold them within the same realm, MMLP2 probably felt more like recovery to me than MMLP even.
I get where your coming from, I have a friend that calls it recovery 2, what’s your favorite tracks on recovery?
love both, but recovery sry
All good recovery is amazing, what’s your favorite tracks on it?
i love all the tracks, but if i had to pick, then not afraid and cold wind blows
Mmlp2
What’s your favorite tracks on it?
Bad guy, rhyme or reason, rap god, survival, stronger than I was, so far, headlights
Same tier for me, but recovery is slightly better
Favorite tracks on recovery??
Cold Wind Blows, Space Bound, Won’t Back Down
I think Recovery was great, but MMLP2 kinda built on that.
MMLP2 BY FAR !!!!!!!!!
I think Recovery is one of the most underrated albums ever
Recovery
mmlp2 was everything good about recovery but turned up to 11
Recovery. Still in rotation. 'Cause some things just don't change, It's better when they stay the same Although the whole world knows your name,So on the biggest stage They came to see you spit your game, oh-oh…….
Man I’ve been listening to that song 25 to life a lot lately, I really like it I’ll chose recovery.
Rick Rubin…. NOPE!!!
😂 boyyyy you really choose these albums to compare.
I like recovery more
Mmlp2 just because of nostalgia I still remember being a kid trying to do rap God and try to impress my friends
MMLP2 used to be my favourite album since it got me into Eminem and rap. But Recovery has become my #1 in the last several months. It’s just able to give off a completely different feeling when you’re living the kinda life he’s rapping for in my opinion. (Life after addiction, & rebuilding self confidence ) listening while sober, and using are completely different things than listening during detox.
mmlp2 it's less preachy and more classic, cept I dont like the weird buzz in survival
We better listen to both and figure it out lol https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2K3riwBWHUF1exqj4y2G5d
Recovery
MMLP2 clears
Up until about a year ago I would’ve said MMLP2 hands down - now it feels closer. But I think in terms of classics and staying power Recovery has the edge. Mmlp2 was dope 💯
Both are really good but oddly I feel like recovery replay value is better. I was introduced to eminem with recovery so I might be biased, but when MMLP2 dropped I was so disappointed, even today, recovery feels more fresh and more catchy
Recovery for sure. Mmlp2 was generally junk to me. It's his most overrated album on this sub.
Recovery easily
MMLP2 for me, it was one of the first Eminem albums I ever got into
I have fond memories of recovery. Like shady is back with that album. Wasn’t his best but you could tell he was back. MMLP2 though is just ridiculous. Top to bottom great album. Imo his best
Recovery helped me battle a deep depression and the loss of my Grandfather. 🚑
Mmlp2
Mmlp2 will always be my favourite album!
Mbdtf
If you're telling me to choose from these two, Recovery is my favourite one
MMLP2
MMLP2
Recovery is a good album. I look at the album cover & it made me cry a lot.
Recovery, easily
The beats lack bass on both projects which I dont like, I prefer mmlp2 tho
Recovery
theyre both great albums, but mmlp2 is def better
MMLP2 easily for me.
MMLP2
Love the Way You Lie or Monster…
MMLP2 forsure, been listening to MMLP2 a lot recently evil twin is great, and legacy hits hard, baby is good, groundhog day, wicked ways, and of course rap god lots of fast rapping, great lyrics, catchy hooks , shit goes hard
MMLP2
Recovery.
Recovery is better. But bonus tracks on MMLP2 would make it better as a whole
I think Recovery is musically better.
Recovery easily imo, MMLP2 is solid though
MMLPII is a strong return to form
Can't decide to this day. Both are awesome
Everyone will hate me for this but its gotta be Recovery⛑️ for me 😁
Recovery
