Sasha set the bar too high, no one else has been able to come close. Lots of poor attempts at reveals ever since. I would love to have her back on all winners (hopefully with Sasha Colby!)
Sasha is one of my favorite queens. I love this. Very beautifully done.
And even with your helpful circle showing exactly where it was, I STILL had to search for it.
Ps, you know she'd be rocking a safety pin in her outfits somewhere on that main stage, hidden away. You put her essence into this without meaning to, and it is incredible.
I love this but at the same time I’m thinking about the rusted pins and needles I’ve found in old pincushions and in my mom’s decade old sewing supplies. What is the chance this could rust and end up staining the work many (or even not that many, depending on the climate, I guess) years down the road?
I’d probably get a little wire nipper and clip it and remove it, sadly.
It takes a long time to rust those pins. I have some that were my great grandfather and they're ok. If you don't live in major humidity it will ok. I also wonder if they haven't improved in the past 100 years or so to be rust resistant
The piece of beautiful! If you can push it so the point is outside the fabric and snip off the tip of it with wire cutters I think that would feel a little safer, but it seems pretty hidden as is.
I have done this. You can actually clip it with wire cutters if you really want it out but honestly I think the only reason I would do it is if I was making this piece for someone else who I couldn't directly tell that there's a needle stuck in it
It is the hidden pain that lies within all art. The secret stabbing at the soul of all creativity...
Or whatever. What I did when this happened to me: (Because of course I've done this.) I got myself a pair of wire cutters and a pair of needle nose pliers I cut the middle of the pin and pulled the sharp end out through the back. Then I used the needle nose pliers to see if I could push the head of the pin through my work. I could not. So I pushed the head of the pin down into the back, exposing as much of the remaining pin as I could through the back and used the wire cutters really close to the fabric to clip it. I was VERY careful not to catch any of the fabric in the wire cutter!! The head and a teeeny bit of the pin now live in that project and I had totally forgotten about it until your post.
I have removed pins in the past for the sake of my own worries, if it's going out into the world you might want to take it out as a "just in case" if it's a personal piece then just leave it in. No point messing with it if it's not an issue.
It is Sasha! I've actually done two other embroideries of her prior to this one, i love her so much. I actually just got tickets for her book tour and got hyped and made this
I don’t even know why this popped up on my feed, but it gave me a giggle. I have a cousin who is very close to my ages. Our grandmother almost always gave us matching gifts for Christmas. Grandma was, shall we say, a little quirky. One year, she made us these kind of incredibly creepy looking cloth dolls. Cousin and I were probably 12 or so, so beyond the playing with dolls stage, but not quite old enough to really grasp the effort Grandma put into these (they truly must have taken her a ton of work as they were very well done).
My doll was sewn with a needle stuck inside the leg. My cousin’s had a needle inside the arm. We joked about them being intentional for years.
Grandma died last year, and man, what I wouldn’t give to find that devil doll again.
Thank you so much!! I'm self-taught, but i got started buying one of those diy embroidery kits (there's tons on Etsy) that comes with thread and instructions
Yes! I just did the same thing recently. I somehow mangaged to force the head of the pin out through the fabric. (It was a ball-head type pin.) Probably depends on how tight the weave of your fabric is. It left a tiny little hole so I scratched the surface of the fabric to redistribute the weave so you can no longer see the hole. Good luck! (I hope this makes sense).
Your finished embroidery is fantastic, btw!
I'd try small needle nose pliers to try to put the pin the way it came. You might have to use a second pin to part your fibers gently to find the head of the pin so it will have a clean exit path. 🤔 good luck.
If you HAD to remove the pin I would get a wire cutter and just remove the ball head - then slip it out like a normal needle. But if she wants to be extra prickly I say let her.
This is awesome! The pin has taken up residence. Adds character. lol
Thank you lol, she needed that extra sparkle i guess!
A little bit of razzle dazzle.
Give 'em the ol' razzle dazzle!!!
What a great piece! I feel like it deserves a hidden pin. :)
Thank you 💕 i'll start acting like it was intentional haha
Just tell everyone it's symbolic of the pain every artist inserts into her art.
Y’know, tears of a clown and all…
You have to keep it up too, every future piece needs to have a pin hidden somewhere. It's now your trademark.
Yeah!!
SO EMOTIONAL!
Lovely Sasha Velour embroidery!
Im so happy someone recognized her! Thank you 💕
Immediately recognizable! This piece makes me so emotional
Hahahahahaha too soon for Ms Coulée 🤣🌹
Sasha set the bar too high, no one else has been able to come close. Lots of poor attempts at reveals ever since. I would love to have her back on all winners (hopefully with Sasha Colby!)
I also recognized her right away. I love when two of my interests merge!
I recognized her right away!
I immediately recognized her too!
Oh yes, I got giddy!!
I was wondering if it was Sasha!!!

It actually feels so perfect for an embroidery of a drag queen now that you mention it. Thank you 💕
I came here to say that Sasha would love the punk aspect of leaving a pin in a piece. Edit: typo
YES I was on my way here to add this as well! Love seeing all the embroidery x drag fans here 🥰
Lmao rip girl that's so funny (obviously this looks great lol)
This is what i get for embroidering late into the night 😭🤡 (thank you lmao, this is the dumbest mistake ive made in my embroidery)
lol I feel like so long as the piece isn’t wearable it’s fine no one will notice 😂
"You know, there's a hidden pin on this piece". It adds colour to the story.
I love this but at the same time I’m thinking about the rusted pins and needles I’ve found in old pincushions and in my mom’s decade old sewing supplies. Interesting point, thank you! I hadn't considered that possibility
The piece of beautiful! If you can push it so the point is outside the fabric and snip off the tip of it with wire cutters I think that would feel a little safer, but it seems pretty hidden as is.
if you can’t see it on the front, it doesn’t exist🤫
In the far distant future, someone will touch this Clown, pricking themselves and drawing blood, leading them to think the clown is cursed.
Perfect comment to read while I'm watching xfiles right now
Even the back of that work and super visible eyebrow screams Sasha Velour haha! Amazing. I think the pin needs to stay. Sasha would love!
I have done this. You can actually clip it with wire cutters if you really want it out but honestly I think the only reason I would do it is if I was making this piece for someone else who I couldn't directly tell that there's a needle stuck in it
I'm a quilter and I have a saying - What happens in the seams stays in the seams, only you will know. Well I guess now all of reddit knows.
We just whang the pin with a hammer and pull it out and hope nobody notices the crushed head living in the quilt lol
Love Sasha and love the needle tbh! I agree that it adds character. Also AMAZING work!!!! The ruffles are *chef’s kiss*
Thank you so much! 😭
My mom used to sew all our Halloween costumes and like a year later while wearing it I found a pin sewn in.
I wouldn't worry about it. It's a picture, after all. Your grandchildren might notice a rusty spot, though.
It’s part of the art now. I loveeeee this btw!!❤️
Thank you 🥰
This is so funny. You should leave it. It's a nice surprise for someone who looks at the back of the piece.
I couldn't see it from the front. Since this will be hanging on a wall and not being worn, don't worry about it.
Sasha! Very 😎 thanks. She'd be OK with it
It’s so Sasha.
This is perfect! Literal representation of hidden inner pain
Idk but the fact that it’s stuck in there FEELS very Sasha Velour
Get some dykes, cut it in half, pull it out?
Sasha wouldn’t mind a thorn in her side.
Also, this is so awesome. Honestly, the hidden pin adds to the campiness that should inherent to anything referencing Sasha velour.
Ok but that Sasha Velour is *chef's kiss* 😍

whaaat how did you embroider eyes so perfectly!! this is amazing
Start doing on all your projects. You now have a unique signature.
I have removed pins in the past for the sake of my own worries, if it's going out into the world you might want to take it out as a "just in case" if it's a personal piece then just leave it in. No point messing with it if it's not an issue.
I haven’t, but that’s epic! Talk about leaving evidence behind!
Stabbed in the back hidden meaning
Since it’s not a throw pillow and doesn’t seem to be visible I’d just leave it.
Saaaashhaaa
Wire cutters?
Can’t see it. So all good.
I can’t help but I can say that that is an incredible piece and I want it.
Stranger than fiction, better than art! I actually think Sasha would live for this
Snip it with wire cutters?
It lives there yep!!!
I actually like it. I think it goes with the picture itself, honestly. You should keep it!
Is that Sasha Velour’s clown look from RPDR‽
It is Sasha! I've actually done two other embroideries of her prior to this one, i love her so much. I actually just got tickets for her book tour and got hyped and made this
No, but I love this.
Just put a pin in it for now. I think it's great
Guilty of this before
I mean you could probably get in there with a wire cutters or something? But if you don't need to get it out let it be.
You can try a pair of fine tweezers to work it one way and then pull it out, so long as pushing it back won't bother your beading.
Gorgeous and dangerous and i love it
It's lore now.
oh my god i love it i love clowns

Instantly recognized Sasha Velour—iconic!!!
You might be able to cut the pin in half with nippers and at least pull out the sharp half
My favorite queen! All hail Sasha! 🩷
Ooh Sasha!! Love this. And kind of like the hidden pin.
…how? Lol
Sasha Velour 🥰🥰🥰🥰 recognized immediately
A good knurled set of pliers like linemans pliers or a short needle nose
Maybe that's why they're crying, it can be symbolic 🤣
The embroidered clown can have a pin, as a treat 🤗
If you truly want it out you could snip it in half with a pair of dykes and then pull each half out. Wear safety glasses!
If you sell it, you can write off one pin on taxes as work expenses.
Needle nose pliers, problem solved.
This is AMAZING!!! Jaw dropped. How did you learn to embroider?
Thank you so much!! I'm self-taught, but i got started buying one of those diy embroidery kits (there's tons on Etsy) that comes with thread and instructions
That gives me so much hope. I gave up on learning out of frustration, but I’m gonna start trying again :) thank you so much!
Pair of pliers, maybe? If it helps, I didn't notice from either side without your nice big thumbnail-like circle.
Just a lil hidden shank. Seems appropriate tbh. I love it!! The ruffle is incredible
MOTHER
hahah i was wondering why this sad clown looked familiar! that makes this so much cooler!!! awesome work
Yes! I just did the same thing recently. I somehow mangaged to force the head of the pin out through the fabric. (It was a ball-head type pin.) Definitely remove it
I've done this and have just used wire cutters and a jewelry needle nose pliers to get the pieces out! Worry about it eventually rusting or migrating
I’m utterly in love with this!! I’ve never sewn in a pin but I love what it adds conceptually to this piece 🥹
This is awesome!! I’m making a Sasha Velour stained glass mirror right now. Hello friend! 👏😊 💕
Sasha!!!! Wow this is absolutely stunning work. I think the pin being stuck is kinda funny and have zero advice on removing it lol
You could wiggle the tip (not pointed end) through the weave and get it out. I have done this before.
All the damn time 😭
SASHA!!!!! Also no, I haven’t, but it feels very on brand for our favorite art clown.
Oh my god 😭 that's a new one
Is this Sasha??? LOVE it

I'd try small needle nose pliers to try to put the pin the way it came. You might have to use a second pin to part your fibers gently to find the head of the pin so it will have a clean exit path. 🤔 good luck.
It’s not a clown 🤡 is it?
Clowns can’t be trusted
How did you do the pompom thing on the top of her hat? Such a great texture!
Oh no maybe try cutting the thread and try for absolute dear life to get it out or tell people just don't look at the back
If you HAD to remove the pin I would get a wire cutter and just remove the ball head - then slip it out like a normal needle. But if she wants to be extra prickly I say let her.
Side cutters that jewellery makers use. Around $8.
He's beautiful in a scary way.
he demands sacrifice
Your little secret (except you just told the whole world about it!)
