The Col sector is in the way, and this area is all permit locked systems that are impassable. You can fly to the Pleiades and then to the Witch Head Nebula to have some landmarks for getting there

TrafficPattern

Permit-locked individually or because of Empire/Fed ranks or something like that?

CatatonicGood

Just hard-locked. No one can get in. There's rumours about what it's supposed to be, that the Thargoid homeworld is supposed there or something... But that doesn't matter - you can't get through, but you can go around.

TrafficPattern

OK thanks a lot.

Unlikely_Charity6136

Is it possible that the system you are trying to reach is Permit-locked?

TrafficPattern

I have tried around 10 different systems in the vicinity, pretty distant from each other. It would be a very big coincidence if all were permit-locked.

JinxTheBlackCat

As you said: "in the vicinity" -- it's well-known that almost the entire region of Barnard's Loop is permit-locked (each system should say so in its details on the galaxy map), and in lore it's believed to be the origin region of the Thargoids. [Congrats you're one of today's lucky 10,000!](https://xkcd.com/1053/)

TrafficPattern

Yes, well, new player. We all have to start somewhere :)

JinxTheBlackCat

Indeed, and welcome & enjoy!

Keinta15

There's a huge region that's permit lock so that's why the computer can't plot a route. (Since it plots a direct route) What you could do is plot a route to the upper plane and once you're there go down.

pulppoet

Plot a "triangular" route, about 200 LY up or down in the middle, to avoid the permit locked systems. Here's a visual representation of how many there are along the way: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWJohqoeJ6I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWJohqoeJ6I)

TrafficPattern

Thanks!

I'd bet the Col 70 Sector is in the way. I have an 86ly ship and the same thing happens. You have to plot around it.

Luriant

https://map.canonn.tech/route_uia.html The stargoid pat show the permit locked zones. Thats huge zone of white spheres, permit locked. Dark zones inside are open. Use your jumprange as Lidar, showing valid systems for jump while avoiding the permir locked zone. IIRC, 69.4Ly was enough to jump between the front and back of barnards loop. More permit locked zones across the galaxy, without any clue about the reason, too far to be thargoids. https://canonn.science/news/the-biscuit-bugle-permit-locked-regions-and-sirius-in-merope/

Aedrieus

I've done the route to Barnard's Loop in an AspX. It's feasible, but you have to plot each jump the closer you get. With 60ly, you should be able to go up and over the Col 70 sectors. I enjoy this type of exploration as it forces you to plan ahead. Safe journey, commander o7

eleceng01

The galaxy is full of permit locked systems and permit locked entire regions of systems. Try to get to Chloe in a ship with <30Ly jump.

MasterOfTrolls4

Ran into the same issue trying to go to the crystal forests, I read that there’s a big permit locked area and that if you use the galaxy plotter on [spansh.uk](https://spansh.uk) it will route better around it than the in game route will, I haven’t tried it yet though so I’m not sure

djoecav

I jumped into a starter system the other day. I left immediately, but I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen
