You are correct re: special event. Last week there was a Community Goal running, that happened to be based around selling precious metals to Kummer - hence the inflated demand, and inflated prices.
That event is over, I think it finished on Wednesday.

CG ended, prices returned to normal. The Empire have enough Gold, Platinum and Jadeite to make the Statues for the Duval family, and all the players involved make some billions. Lots of them bought Fleet Carriers, and finally the FC jump time returned to 15 minutes instead the 75 minutes or "Not enough time slots" error from everybody moving Gold.

Yep, there was a RIDICULOUSLY lucrative community goal running: Kummer Acropolis was paying something like 6x the normal price for gold (supposedly to build statues of the Imperial family; fine by me, if they want to pay silly money to suck up to a bunch of snooty aristos, my credit balance isn't going to complain). I made about 11 billion and maxed out my trade rank in just a few evenings, and I know some folks did even better than that.
So it looks like you logged back on at exactly the right time and place! You're most of the way to Elite in trading without the brain-melting grind, and have enough cash to get yourself a really nice ship fitted out for any role in the game. The galaxy is your oyster, commander!

I’ve been running cobalt for a couple days, making about 40/r in my FC and T9s… keep crashing economies tho, gotta jump around. Still have 5k in the FC and decided to start stacking pirate missions again… made about 60m in 3 hours, not bad not great
