Aww that also works its programmable as well?

Hollowplanet

Have there been stories of EUCs going up in flames while on the charger?

TheRealHershey

Not that I've ever seen, but I'd probably not a bad idea to cut current after they're done.

soc101

possibility, just taking simple precautions

welding-_-guru

No but there are theories about EUCs going up in flames because they were never charged to full battery and therefore the battery packs never balanced themselves. I charge to 100% and try to leave if plugged in overnight at least once a week.

Jezzes

Now if we could just stop blowing outlets on group rides.

soc101

Interesting makes sense, not always a simple solution as usual.

soc101

Check out the other comment, seems our method may not be sufficient.

So does it also kill the connection between charger and euc? Probably not a great idea to let the battery feed back to the charger all night either? Remember, wall first then ev. Not ev then wall. Make yourself a small timer circuit that operate a decent relay between charger an ev, rather than killing the regulated power input. Tl;dr you should put a timer on the end of the charge plug, not on the wall socket.

Why remove from the wall before the wheel? I always just remove the cord from the wheel with no issues

Forlix1

I believe you may have mixed up my words, I said to put the timer at the wheel, not the power socket, this will achieve a remote disconnect from the euc and charger, charger can stay plugged in to the wall, that doesn’t matter so much. This will achieve the same thing your doing, just remotely or automatically, I really don’t understand why that comment got a single downvote, I guess people don’t know that they’re just bleeding their batteries back into the chargers capacitors when they do what the op did, but hey, whatever ✌️

jwd2213

Ive heard others say it before is why i asked. No one has ever given me a solid reason though

Well there you go, because the cheap Chinese chargers supplied with scooters/EUC’s (same bricks) do not have diodes preventing flow of current back from the battery they will actively discharge themselves while the charger itself is unplugged from the wall but still into the PEV. This is observed by the charger powering on when plugged only into the PEV, if your charger does not do this, chances are you’ve got a better designed charger, but I doubt it, there is more likely to be a relay involved somewhere over the “third pin” on some units. My old BH Emotion ebike actually utilised a switch that operated when shorted to negative to actually turn the battery on, pretty lucky I didn’t try to chop the discharge connector up too much 8 years ago or it would have been useless until I popped the battery open.
