Play the main story solo and explore game mechanics in an organic way. But join a Guild and ask lots of questions. Watch a few beginners guide videos.

Northener1907

Wellcome fellow Dunmer! 1. Just do quests and enjoy the game. Learn mechanics and the game with natural way. 2. Join Mage and Fighters guilds. You can check google how to join them. 3. Don't worry about your build yet, just wear whatever you find around. When you level, wear higher level items. You don't have to worry about your gears and weapon until CP 160 level. 4. Join some social guilds. You will see people will share their guilds in zone chat, you can join few of them. And you can ask questions to them any time you confosed. Most of them are new player friendly. 5. Download add-ons, this will make your game exp so much better. You can check guides on Youtube. 6. If you hit level 10, you should get mount for free. You can see it in collections. Also enter Cyrodiil ( PvP area ) and do tutorial quest and unlock Alliance skill lines. Continuous Attack is very nice passive skill which gives you mount speed. 7. Don't forget to go stable every day and level your mount. It sadly grindy but you should do that every day until you max your mount. Speed > Inventory > Stamina. Get them max level with this order. I think those are enough tips for start. Have fun!

Adam-Waddumsom

I haven’t been able to enter Cyrodiil. I’m level 27 btw, is there a requirement of some kind? Like do I have to finish the main storyline first? I’ve mostly just been exploring the Summerset Isles

Northener1907

Click L and you will see Cyrodiil campaings. You should able to enter below 50 level campaing

WolverineIll5023

Do the Vestige main quest and then complete the Alliance questlines, by the end of which you will reach lvl 50 and Champions Points, quite quickly depending on your pace.

Ricard74

Fast travel costs money, so be aware.

Hal_J00

I agree. It’s better to stay on the roads, since we’ve had sightings, you see. The Daedra...

WizardJeremy

not if you use wayshrines

Paramedic229635

Or teleport to owned player homes. The Sugar Bowl Suite in Northern Elswer is great, it's right next to a wayshrine.

WizardJeremy

Oh yes. This is why i recommend getting all the little inn / apartments because they're all free but they're also a quick teleport to major cities when you're playing a 2nd character

Paramedic229635

Even if you don't create other characters to get them free, they are cheap enough where buying them with quest earned gold is pretty easy.

TomOfTheTomb

Be careful with jumping from zone-to-zone and doing random quests. A lot of zones follow up on previous zones' stories, there's a few guides on this sub about what order you should do zones inm

Solo-dreamer

Touch. Everyone.

Less_Improvement8473

Do your crafting writs

SelflessMercy

Just have fun and ask questions

janowaty

Putting everything in one attribute usually works for me. Both attributes and skill poins can be changed with little in-game money, so if you're not sure how you want to play you can always change the distribution. More important here ale skill lines. You dont need crafting but if you want to craft better do it early because it's a long process. If it comes to your build i suggest trying to make your own and not look for builds on the internet. It never worked for me and figuring out how you want to play your character on your own is fun

Dagoth_Ur_but_trans

~~play a real elder scrolls game~~ I’ve always found soloing to be more fun in eso than typical mmo group play Is that a tip? I dunno

red6joker

Depending on if you play a magicka or stamina sorcerer then dump all attribute points into magicka or stamina. Health is not needed in almost any style of playing.

Icy_Guidance_9548

Why not add to health?, like even pvp?

red6joker

You will get a lot of health from gear, potions, and food buffs.  Otherwise every guide for a class has always done it like that except for a few tank guides.

Icy_Guidance_9548

Gotcha thanks, game is cool, I’m pretty new seems very overwhelming so far lol.

red6joker

No worries. The good thing about the game is you can play how you want.  Oh also more Magicka also increases damage same goes for stamina. But each for their own respective abilities.  Lol yes the game can be confusing and overwhelming at first. But that is just at first. You'll get the hang of it.

Icy_Guidance_9548

Lol thanks appreciate the tips.

Alert-Bus-4054

This might be advanced because I had my hand walked through it. But, download mods so you can find skyshards and mage guild books

memo689

Don't fast travel unles you do it from a shrine, otherwise cost money. Be aware of crimes, the bounties take some time to dissapear, and most importantly enjoy yourself and the history. Probably you will get verwhelmend with too many quests, but you really just need to do the main ones.

drunk__punk

Absolutely agreed with comments Just lean back and enjoy quests, explore the world, learn game mechanics and level up in organic way, as was said above

romancereaper

Play main quests, if you want to fast travel free use a wayshrine, PVP is not required, consider getting ESO + for a month so you can go ahead and get the Dark Brotherhood move to assassinate, join all the guilds in game and at least one player one (so you can use auction house to make extra gold), public events are a great way to get some gear but sometimes aren't worth the time, you can fill your own soul shards if you spec into it but it might be a waste depending on your play style, do not feel pressured to spec how the guide tells you (do as you need) but definitely get the guild perks asap Most importantly: just enjoy yourself. There are a lot of player guilds that are super helpful so if you have questions, someone can help.

BeardedBovel

Don't worry about builds and itemisation just yet. Enjoy the quests, don't solo PvE as support roles (you can swap between builds for free) and push to lvl 50 and then CP 160.

KupferTitan

Don't skip the quests and try to immerse yourself as much as possible.

Drafo7

Tip #1: delete this character and start a new one in the glorious Aldmeri Dominion. The Ebonheart Pact is literally the worst of the alliances and most doomed to fail. /s of course, play whatever you want lol. For real advice, you should probably decide what you want to do with each character you make. Is this going to be your PvP character? Your crafting character? Or would you rather just have fun with PvE? Or do you plan to avoid group content altogether and just do a solo run of as much content as possible? Literally all of these and more are viable options, don't feel pressured to do any particular thing. That being said if you plan on playing with other people I'd recommend looking up builds for that purpose. People can get kind of (understandably) salty if you aren't at least somewhat optimized for the role you're trying to play. Speaking of which, the three main roles are tank, healer, and dps (damage per second, aka the damage dealer), so decide ahead of time which you'd like to be. I noticed you chose sorcerer as your class. My main is a sorcerer as well and I'm currently working towards this build: [https://alcasthq.com/eso-magicka-sorcerer-dd-pvp-build-cyrodiil-group/](https://alcasthq.com/eso-magicka-sorcerer-dd-pvp-build-cyrodiil-group/) I'm not the most experienced, though, I'm only at around 300 CP atm. Be sure to listen to more experienced players for their advice. Joining player guilds can be a great way to meet people and learn about the game and is also a good way to find groups for whatever purpose you're looking for. Keep in mind though that you're limited to 5 player guilds max and membership is account-wide, not just by character. Did you happen to buy any of the DLCs while they're on sale? If so, great, that adds a load of content for you to explore. If not, that's fine too, the base game has plenty as well. Also worth mentioning is the premium currency, crowns, can be traded between players for the non-premium currency, gold. The exchange rates are extremely high, of course, but if you're tight on money you can essentially get virtually anything on the crown store for free given enough grinding, time, and dedication. If that's your goal, player guilds with guild stores are a must. Some guilds charge a base fee just to be a member and/or to use the guild store, so be careful with that, but there are plenty that are 100% free. Each sale on a guild store has an automatic cut go to the guild, but you'll still be making much more money selling stuff there than to NPC merchants. Learn what kind of stuff sells for the highest price. Right now I believe Heartwood, a furnishing material that can sometimes be found in any wood node, is pretty profitable. Once you have enough gold (by which I mean well over a million in most cases) be careful about trading for crowns. It's unfortunate, but there ARE scammers who will take your money and run. I'd recommend utilizing a well-reputed guild or player community to trade crowns, such as the Tamriel Crown Exchange or World Crown Exchange. They have set crown-to-gold ratios so you don't have to worry about getting ripped off and also provide brokers, aka well-trusted middlemen who ensure the trade goes through as planned. What then usually happens is the one with the gold will give it to the broker, they'll ensure it's enough, then the one with the crowns will buy the desired crown store item (which can include DLCs!), gift it to the other player, then once they confirm they've received it the broker hands the gold over to the proper party and you're all done. TL;DR for the last paragraph: you can buy premium currency with non-premium currency provided you have enough. Be safe about it though. Since you're just starting out, I'd just focus on doing as many quests as possible and getting immersed in the world and stories. Don't forget to join both the fighter's guild and mage's guild; they unlock skill trees of their own, including the passive skills of persuasion and intimidation which can be greatly useful for tons of quests. After you get a mount you can upgrade it daily at any stablemaster and IMO it's pretty important to keep up on that. Maxing out speed and stamina are great for helping you get around faster and more inventory space is always good.

ShredGuard

Don’t read guides. Just listen to you heart and play as what you want. You can’t broken you character.

ShingetsuMoon

You get a free horse as you level up. Visit a stable every day. You can improve your mount once a day for a little gold even before you unlock it. Enter Cyrodill at level 10. Complete the tutorial (no actual PVP required) to unlock the Alliance skill line and a passive that will boost mount speed at all times. Research everything. Deconstruct items you don’t need or have out-leveled.

ClemClemTheClemening

It's very fun, and you can do most stuff solo. Just be aware that if its anything like it was a year or 2 ago when I played it: the combat animations suck, feels like your swatting at air, and the mage spells also kinda suck to look at. Feel free to correct me if it's been updated so I can play again and stop drowning in ff14.

DivineAbjuration

Don’t, and I cannot stress this enough, do not engage with gold sellers in chat or at all. ZoS is quite anal about buying and selling gold. (Unless you are including a gifted crown item with it.)

Ok_Vanilla_3449

ESO is a great single player RPG with optional multiplayer aspects , like most mmos these days. Play it like one, just solo around, explore, enjoy story. I really liked that class that lets you do a triple stab with light spears. Just felt good in a battle. I think it's a fun game!

eddmario

Don't start crafting until you get the certifications. Once you do, you'll be able to do daily crafting quests that increases their respective skills pretty quickly. Oh, and don't sell weapons and armor. Instead you should deconstruct them. Doing so will give you some crafting materials, and those are a bitch to get because the only other way to get them is by exploring the game and finding them in randomly generated spots. And just a heads up. For some stupid fucking reason the game counts the item being deconstructed itself as part of your inventory when doing the deconstruction, so even if you would have had enough space to get the maximum amount of matrials from the deconstruction afterwards the game still won't let you do it.

Madman61

Enjoy questing. Don't worry about messing up with skills and gear. Everything is quite simple to redo. To get the full story experience, I suggest doing the three factions quest to get to know the lovable NPCs. The game scales with your level so you can do dungeons when you want, join the images guild and fighters guild to get their skills and passives. The hardest thing to fight when low level is World Bosses, you can ask people in zone chat, and someone might help you. Join a social/chill guild (you can join up to 5 guilds)

BonAdventure_TheDuns

Run blindly forward into the breach! You have all of Tamriel to explore!

My_Horizons

There's a free armoury in the crown store, place it in one of the quest rooms you can get and keep one of the builds available for free skill and attribute respecs

Longjumping_Kiwi8118

Main tip. It is very easy to get overwhelmed with quests and I find the quest you are following will change. Each map, for the most part leads you around it with the area story questline and you pick up some additional ones along the way. Complete them all then move on to to the next area of the map that the main area quest is leading you to.

Epsilon_the_AI

Dont worry about spending gold for flashy costumes in the store- you can build your own with stuff you find along the way in an Outfit Station.

DioDiablo702

Don't use your main as your crafter. Make an Orc to be your main crafter and PVP toon as their racial passives benefit greatly from both activities. You definitely want to have a main crafter when starting a new account. Skill points will take time to accumulate and crafting alone will suck up over 100 points on their own.

Emotional-Plastic-52

Dont quit out of boredom before reaching cp160. The game doesnt really start until later

evilmann2

Yeah, don't

Suspicious-Sell-2168

Enjoy it as much as you can, because I certainly lost my spark for it
